The Good
The 2019 Sequoia boasts impressive reliability and a powerful V8 engine for strong towing performance. Its spacious cabin offers comfort for large families. While not the most fuel-efficient, it provides a sense of security and dependability appealing to practical buyers. Emotionally, owners appreciate its ruggedness and reputation for longevity.
The Bad
The 2019 Sequoia's weaknesses include its outdated design and poor fuel economy compared to newer SUVs. The infotainment system is also dated. Watch out for potential rust issues, especially in areas with road salt. Suspension components can wear over time due to the vehicle's weight and towing demands.

Analysis
What Problems Does the 2019 Toyota Sequoia Have?
- Rust: Rust, especially in areas that use road salt, can be a concern. Check the undercarriage and body panels for rust.
- Suspension: The air suspension on Platinum models can be prone to issues and expensive to repair. Standard suspension components may wear out faster due to the vehicle's weight.
- Fuel Economy: Owners consistently report lower than expected real-world fuel economy.
- Infotainment System: The dated infotainment system can be slow and unresponsive compared to modern systems.
- Transmission: While generally reliable, some owners have reported occasional hard shifting. Regular transmission fluid changes are crucial.
Recalls for the 2019 Sequoia have been relatively limited. It's always best to check the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) website for the most up-to-date recall information using the VIN. Long-term reliability is generally excellent, but preventative maintenance is key. Keeping up with scheduled services like oil changes, fluid flushes, and inspections can help minimize potential problems. Specific model year issues are rare, but focusing on overall maintenance is recommended to ensure longevity.

What Technology & Safety Features are Included?
Driver-assistance features include Toyota Safety Sense P (TSS-P) as standard, encompassing pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, lane departure alert, automatic high beams, and dynamic radar cruise control. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are available on higher trims.
Safety features include eight airbags, anti-lock brakes, stability control, and traction control.
Crash test ratings from the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) show a 4-star overall safety rating. The IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) ratings are more limited, with some evaluations but not a full suite of tests conducted.
Optional features vary by trim but include things like adaptive cruise control, a sunroof, and different wheel styles. The Sequoia prioritizes reliability and space over cutting-edge technology, so while functional, the tech is not as advanced as some competitors.

Very reliable, seats are amazingI’ve always been a gm guy, but they forgot how to build seats after about 07’ or so. My 14 sequoia has been perfect in every way! Very powerful engine as well.

No matter naysayers, this is the best there is!This is the second Sequoia I have had the pleasure, the first was a 2005 work vehicle that I put 60k miles on, every one of them I was trying to break it. The massive unit took gas and oil and was sold at auction for $6500 with 105k miles. Since, I have read all the bogus crap concerning this bullet proof monster and it is all jealous, ignorant lies. I tried the chevy, no seats, 1960's suspension, cheap, same as the ford, overrated, cheap. The Sequoia, built like the Land Cruiser and the Stryker, something if you do keep for a decade it will be like new. Don't want to be on a first name basis with your service rep? Buy the best. My new Sequoia is a 2019 Limited, just an awesome ride.
