2015 Subaru Outback will be my first and last Subaru I

2015 Subaru Outback will be my first and last Subaru I will buy. New transmission at 120k, all four wheel bearings needed replacement at about 130k, interior fan quit at 105k, and the list goes on. Once the extended warranty is out, so is this car. I think the local dealership’s service department is going to name a service bay after me.

I bought used in 2023 a 2015 premium with 214k miles.

I bought used in 2023 a 2015 premium with 214k miles. I drove it 6k miles and only replaced the CV axle, this isn't impressive sounding but it was going through constant , aggressive off reading due to the rough road conditions I had to use because I live in the rocky mountains. I got in a rollover a 60 mph and I had no injuries, airbags kept me safe. Fuel economy was dismal with 21 in the city and 24 in the highway, safety and reliability are top tier, power was surprisingly adequate, the Bluetooth was appreciated and all the safety tech and other tech was very useable and helpful and accurate. Love the car would buy it again if I had the chance

Best car for my needs.

I bought my 2015 3.6 Limited Outback in 2019. Had 59,000 mi on it. I have driven it 100,000 mi with a small amount of maintenance. Just replaced HID HEADLIGHT BULB…$300. Ouch! After sliding sideways down interstate in my full size van, I decided to research AWD and pick. I am so happy with my Outback, it performs so well in ice and snow. I like to go out and test its ability. At least I know what it will do on bad roads. 160,000 mi and drives like a new one. New tires are always a good help for wheels on pavement.

Not Quite Good Enough

Far and away the most disappointing aspect of owning the Subaru Outback Limited model year 2015 is the constant battery drain issue and a power hatchback that refuses to open and close as you would expect. A ridiculous amount of money spent to resolve the issues, but no resolution. I was left with no other option but to disconnect the power strut and hatch motor so the gate could be operated manually. The worst part is this was a known problem by SOA for Outback model years 2013-2019 and they chose to do nothing about it. Never again.

It's a beast in the winter

I have a 1/3 mile driveway that climbs 400 feet from the street to my house. The Outback with good winter tires (I use Bridgestone Blizzaks) climbs this driveway with 10" of fresh snow on it like a mountain goat. And it's far better as a daily driver on summer days than anything else which would make that climb (4x4 pickup or a Jeep). 85K miles in six years and it's only been in the shop twice, once for a couple of recalls and once for a stuck power tailgate. One day and out both times. Only two gripes. With the 6 cyl mill the gas mileage is dismal, and the seats are too short for good thigh support (I believe they have improved the seats in the newer models)

Son made me buy one

not the tough SUV I was expecting, all kinds of warranty and other service issues, needs new brakes, new rear wheel bearings, etc. all before 60,000

Disappointing

Rear wheel bearings failed at 60,000 miles and again at 120,000 miles. Overhead console failed at 100,000 miles—too expensive to replace. Ridiculous failures for such an expensive car that is advertised to be so reliable. Will consider a different car next time.
