What Problems Does the 2009 Volvo S80 Have?
Regarding recalls, it's essential to check the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) website with the VIN to identify any open recalls specific to the vehicle. Common areas for recalls on Volvos of this era relate to fuel pump relays, airbags, or software glitches. Long-term reliability can be a concern due to the complexity of the vehicle's systems, and older models may experience increased repair needs as components age. The V8 engine, while powerful, can be more expensive to maintain due to its complexity and the availability of parts. Regular maintenance and addressing minor issues promptly are crucial for maximizing the longevity of the 2009 Volvo S80.

How Does the 2009 Volvo S80 Compare to Other Sedan?
Reliability is a mixed bag; the Lexus ES is known for its exceptional reliability, while the German cars can be more prone to maintenance issues. The S80 falls somewhere in between, with potential for electrical and mechanical issues. Price-wise, the S80 often presented a more affordable option both new and used, compared to its German counterparts.
Alternatives to consider include the Lexus ES for superior reliability and comfort, the Acura TL for a balance of performance and features at a similar price point, or the Infiniti G35/G37 for a sportier driving experience. If reliability is a top priority, the Lexus ES is a better choice. If you prefer a sportier driving experience, consider the BMW 5 Series or Infiniti G series, keeping in mind that maintenance costs may be higher.

Best Luxury Vehicle- Low MaintenancePerforms better/as well as my wife's new BMW X5 4.4 (sport package) with the fuel economy of a Honda Accord! Best part of this car is the fact that it is a beast of a luxury car without the pretension of a Mercedes. Customers/clients/friends riding in my car say it's one of the most comfortable riding experiences.

Sleek entry level luxuryAbsolutely love this car. Sleek styling, luxurious wood trim interior, seats made in heaven, this car is excellent for long trips. Engine has plenty of go. Only draw back is the fuel mileage, if that's a buying point for you, stay away. 21 mpg on a good day.

Great, comfortable, powerful luxury cruiserThis is one of the nicest cars I've owned. With 281 hp and high torque at low RPMs it's very quick when you need it to be. With all wheel drive it also handles well in all weather conditions. Particularly great in winter because of heated seats and a strong heater-defroster. The minimalist Swedish design interior is striking. I've received number of compliments about the car's design. The only downsides are relatively low gas mileage and the usual Volvo overpricing of parts. All in all a great deal and a source of pride.

Fun. Solid carWe bought this car when looking for a SUV. We needed four wheel drive or AWD. It has been an amazing car for us. Very solid. Excellent winter traction. Great acceleration. Good gas mileage. We have put about 60,000 miles on it. Only issue was we had to replace both struts at about 110,000 miles.

Great carThis car is reliable and efficient. It has low mileage for being a 2009. It gets me where I need to go and is a safe vehicle. I have had Volvos throughout my life and will continue to keep them on my top 3!

I love VolvoMy Grandma traded her 1992 Mazda 626 in for a 2009 Volvo S80 in July 2009. This car is loaded with safety features. The interior is beautifully finished. The car rides like a magic carpet.
