The Good
The 2013 Volvo S80 excels in comfort and safety, appealing to practical buyers. Its refined design and luxurious interior provide an emotionally satisfying experience. While not a performance powerhouse, the T6 engine offers decent power. Volvo's reputation for reliability, combined with the S80's comfortable ride, makes it a compelling choice. Fuel efficiency is respectable for its class.
The Bad
Potential weaknesses of the 2013 Volvo S80 include its somewhat dated infotainment system compared to newer rivals. The handling isn't as sporty as some competitors. Some owners have reported issues with electronic components and the automatic transmission. Regular maintenance is crucial for long-term reliability. Check for any signs of oil leaks.

What Problems Does the 2013 Volvo S80 Have?
While specific recall information can vary, it's important to check the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) website for any recalls related to the 2013 Volvo S80, as these can address safety-related defects. Long-term reliability can be a concern, particularly with higher mileage examples. Regular maintenance, including timely oil changes and fluid checks, is crucial for preventing major issues. The T6 models, with their more complex turbocharged engine and all-wheel-drive system, may potentially have higher maintenance costs compared to the base 3.2 model. The T5 engine was introduced mid-year in some markets, so specific long-term reliability data may be limited, but it represents a more modern and efficient engine design compared to the older 3.2 inline 6. Always obtain a pre-purchase inspection by a qualified mechanic before buying a used 2013 Volvo S80.

Volvo exceeds expectationsI currently own 2 Volvo's. My wife drives a 2014 S60 and I drive a 2013 S80. Both vehicles have by far exceeded all expectations. And the best part is Volvo covers all scheduled maintenance for 4 years and in the 19 months we owned our vehicles after the maintenance agreement was expired it has been repair free with just scheduled oil changes and new wiper blades. I'm satisfied enough to never purchase another vehicle again.

Great carDrives extremely well in all weather. The sound system is the best I have ever heard in a standard piece of factory equipment. Very comfortable car... seat heaters are great and air conditioning is excellent.

Could Last ForeverI've had my S80 for almost 5 years. It has the Inscription package, which means virtually every option that was available for that model year is on the car, except for rear headrest DVD screens. I have had very little trouble with the car. It's quiet, comfortable, generates a lot of power from the 300 hp Turbo 6, and the safety features are almost unparalleled to this day. They include adaptive cruise, low speed crash mitigation, blind spot visual notification, a heads up warning display projected onto the windshield, etc. It still looks and drives like new, and runs on regular fuel. It also is in a discontinued color that everyone thinks is beautiful called "Ember Black," and the interior, which is amber and black "Sovereign" leather, also draws admiring comments. I think it could last as long as I chose to keep it. My wife has a 2011 XC60 and she feels the same way about her car.

Safest vehicle on roadVolvo Village of Norwell is an outstanding dealership. Our salesman was accommodating and congenial. He went well beyond "the call of duty" to serve all our needs , even coming in on his day off. He made himself available everytime we requested. This is the second Volvo we have purchased from him in 2 years.
