What Problems Does the 2012 Volvo S60 Have?
Regarding recalls, it's important to check the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) website for any specific recalls related to your VIN. Some potential recall areas could include fuel pump issues or problems with the electrical system.
Long-term reliability can be affected by diligent maintenance. Neglecting scheduled maintenance, particularly oil changes and fluid checks, can lead to premature wear on engine and transmission components. The turbocharged engines require synthetic oil and adherence to Volvo's recommended service intervals. Suspension components and brake systems should also be regularly inspected and maintained to ensure safe and reliable operation over the long term. Regular software updates for the car's computer systems are also advisable to prevent glitches and ensure optimal performance.

How Does the 2012 Volvo S60 Compare to Other S80?
Reliability is a mixed bag. While Volvos have a reputation for safety and longevity, some owners report electronic issues. The Lexus IS, known for its exceptional reliability, might be a better choice for buyers prioritizing dependability.
In terms of price, the S60 was generally competitive, especially on the used market. The Acura TL offered a similar value proposition with a focus on reliability. A similar alternative would be a Lexus IS, offering a good blend of reliability and luxury. The BMW 3 Series is better for driving enthusiasts, while the Mercedes-Benz C-Class offers a more prestigious badge. If reliability is paramount, the Lexus IS is the strongest contender.

Please do not buy!I bought my s60 in 2021 with 89,000 miles. Immediately after purchase it was saying no oil. I took it to dealership, they changed the oil and sent me on my way. The oil was leaking out, one quart a week. They kept saying there was no leak, they didn’t know what was happening. A month in a half later the car stalls out on the highway. I get it towed to the shop and they tell me I need a whole new engine. THANK GOD I purchased an extended warranty but still had to fight with them to replace it. It took them 2 months to fix it. I pick it up from the shop, get on the highway and my coolant level light comes on and says I need to add coolant. After that my car leaked coolant EVERYDAY. My dad helped me get it fixed. New radiator cap. One month later my window went off track and exploded. My brake pedal fell off. The glove box and center compartment broke and this all happened in the span of 6 months. The worst car I’ve ever owned. Please please do not buy this car. One mechanic I spoke with said that the 2012 s60’s were a fluke year. Volvo changed their make up after that year. Also I had 4 recalls while I had it as well. Shew.

Run, as fast as you canThis car is horrendous reliability wise, seriously run as fast as you can if you don’t have the money for thousands in repairs immediately when you buy it. It has a bad transmission and really bad misfiring problems. If you want comfort without breaking down get a Lexus. I bought it at 101k miles and immediately had 4 new problems within 2 weeks, all of which are expensive of course. Don’t even think about it if you wanna get one. I’d hate for anyone to go through the agony of attempting to daily this.

Terrible carThis car was simply terrible, purchased it used in 2015,had MAJOR repairs the last several years that made impossible to own. This year I had $2600,(2022),today I was told I need $1500 for a repair to keep it on the road.I have had three issues that were almost dangerous, leaking breaks, oil were the norm!

A Fun Car To Own!My Volvo S-60, T-5 has been one of, if not the best car I've owned. It is comfortable and has outstanding handling and acceleration with great highway gas mileage. In-town mileage leaves something to be desired but is nothing I can't live with.

This is a winner from volvoThis is a fast car with great all wheel drive system. So comfortable you can do 8 hrs easily. Sound system is great and steering wheel controls make cruising a joy. Power moon roof lets the perfect amount of air and light in for a wind in your hair feel. This car is not slow. Its straight 6 with turbo power has this a sleeper car for sure. If you opt for the polestar software upgrade for 1500.00. Youll make that a lively 350hp and 350lb ft. That mated with an impressive all wheel drive system its get up, pull your dress up and does a full haul to 60 in low 5 sec range. This is a great daily driver. Ive had my 2012 volvo s60 t6 in black for 3 yrs and just fall in love more and more with it everytime i drive it. I just did a rolling 40mph with a newer Camaro rs with the v6 which is 330 or so hp and was over 1 car length in front! She rolls out!!

Most stylish car I’ve ever ownedThis car isn’t like the older square Volvo’s. This one is sleek, quick, and very comfortable on the inside. It turns heads when I drive up in it. I love it!
