What Problems Does the 2003 Volvo S60 Have?
While the 2003 model year didn't have any major, widespread recalls, it's important to check the NHTSA website for any specific recalls related to your VIN. Long-term reliability is largely dependent on maintenance. Neglecting regular oil changes, fluid flushes, and other preventative maintenance can significantly shorten the lifespan of the car. Given its age, rubber components like hoses and belts are likely to deteriorate, requiring replacement. The climate control system, especially the AC compressor, can also be a source of expensive repairs as the car ages.
How long will the 2003 Volvo S60 last?
What Technology & Safety Features are Included?
Safety: Volvo emphasized safety, and the S60 reflected this. Standard safety features included anti-lock brakes (ABS), front and side airbags, and whiplash protection seats (WHIPS). Electronic Stability Program (ESP) was available as an option. Driver-assistance features were limited compared to modern cars, but cruise control was standard.
Crash-Test Ratings: The 2003 Volvo S60 generally performed well in crash tests conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). It typically received good ratings for frontal and side impact protection. These strong crash test ratings contributed significantly to the S60's reputation as a safe vehicle.
Optional Features: Some available optional features included a navigation system (considered basic by today's standards), heated seats, and upgraded wheels. Remember that the availability of these features varied depending on the trim level and specific packages selected by the original buyer.

How Does the 2003 Volvo S60 Compare to Other Sedan?
In terms of features, the S60 offered a competitive set of standard and optional equipment. However, some rivals may have offered more advanced technology at the time.
Reliability is a mixed bag. The Acura TSX is generally considered more reliable, while the German rivals can be prone to more expensive repairs. The Volvo S60 falls somewhere in the middle, with its own set of potential issues.
Price-wise, a used 2003 Volvo S60 is typically more affordable than its German counterparts. If reliability is a top priority, the Acura TSX is a strong alternative. If you prioritize a sporty driving experience, the BMW 3 Series is a good choice, but be prepared for potentially higher maintenance costs. The Mercedes-Benz C-Class offers a more luxurious alternative but shares similar maintenance concerns with the BMW. The Audi A4 represents a balanced option, but may also be more expensive to maintain.

Car is OK, when you take care of it.Bought it 5 years ago for รขโยฌ3K,246000 kilometres on odometer, 13 years in Northern climate(heater is good! ) , installed aftermarket audio system(รขโยฌ3,5K).During 5 years replaced all shocks and coil springs, upper strut insulators, oxygen sensors, front lower control arm front bushings(I recommend use polyurethane, this car really eats regular front lower control arm front bushings)+few other things and regular maintenance(liquids, filters etc.). Now it has 291000 kilometres on odometer and its technically in order. Worst enemy is winter, then is lot of salt and I drive in urban area so in the summer I have to do little bit corrosion protection. Ride is OK, seats are pretty comfy. For that money it's pretty good car and repairs are not too expensive. Manual transmission(it's better for the winter and gives overall more control in my opinion).

Best older vehicle ive driven!Bought the car about 1 year ago with 149k from a Volvo specialist mechanic, and the mechanicals feel like they just came out of the factory. A little slow on the top end, but overall performance and refinement is what you would expect from the Swedes. Overall for $3,000 was a great buy and great value for the money. Would definitely recommend car.. only issue was CAT is bad so find one with a replaced CAT if possible.

Safest car I've ever ownedI was involved in an accident and I would have been badly injured if I wasn't driving this tank of a car. It kept me safe and allowed me to walk away unscathed. Definitely the best car I've owned.

2003 Volvo S60 2.3TurboFantastic car !!! Paid $600, has small amount of damage on R.F. corner. And the radiator is cracked. Need Hood, Hood hinge, Radiator, Radiator hoses & Headlight Lens. (I'm able to make repairs...) Car is super reliable, even with the damages. I'm so in-love with this car, I named it "Jenny". Car has 146,000 mi. , was serviced in Jan. 2017 and had electrical coils replaced. Drives like a dream...

Love this car!I recommend this vehicle to those who love luxury, speed, and comfort. Purchased used, but this vehicle is performing well and I've had no issues with it. Drives smooth, hugs the road, quiet interior, & can "get up and go" when you want to, but it's the feel of it that really has me loving this car. I'm almost 6'2", and fit comfortably, but no one can sit behind me in the back seat because there is only a few inches of leg room.

S60Car is still tight and very comfortable. Back seat is cramped, but I guess that's why they make the bigger car. First long trip in it and it consistantly showed 28 MPG and the math bears that out. Just wonder why these manufacturers keep building interference engines?
