Analysis
What Problems Does the 2013 Volvo S60 Have?
While not extremely common, there have been reports of issues with the transmission, particularly with the automatic gearbox. It's essential to check for smooth shifting during a test drive and to review the vehicle's service history for any transmission-related maintenance.
Recalls can vary depending on the specific vehicle and its history. It's crucial to check the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) website for any outstanding recalls related to the VIN. Long-term reliability concerns generally revolve around the cost of maintaining a European luxury vehicle. Parts and labor can be more expensive compared to domestic or Japanese brands. Addressing minor issues promptly can help prevent them from escalating into more significant and costly repairs. Pre-purchase inspection by a qualified mechanic is highly recommended.

How Does the 2013 Volvo S60 Compare to Other Sedan?
In terms of features, the S60 offers a good range of standard and optional equipment, especially regarding safety technology. Price-wise, the S60 is often competitively priced compared to its German rivals, particularly on the used market.
Alternatives to consider include the Acura TSX (for reliability and value), the BMW 3 Series (for sportier handling), or the Lexus IS (for long-term dependability). If safety is a top priority and a comfortable ride is desired, the S60 remains a solid choice. A well-maintained Acura TL or Lexus ES (slightly larger) could be considered for increased reliability at a similar price point.

No temperature gaugeWhy they decided to not have a temperature gauge is beyond me. Loved the car but god forbid something goes wrong, It became a money pit and when the radiator fan stopped working I had no idea until the engine overheating warning came on (CRAZY) and now because of this mishap that would have been avoided with said temp gauge, the head gasket blew a couple months later and I still owe a lot of money. Unfortunate because it was fun to drive

Happy I sold when I did!Purchased the car new back in 2013 was an amazing little car up until I hit the 10 year mark I only had put 100,000 miles on it and everything started to go bad as others have said the burning oil was definitely a problem properly maintained at Volvo dealer. Dealer recommended that I sell the car due to them encountering other issues with similar model year. The other thing is apparently the engine is unreliable because the engine was made by Ford. This is for the T5 not the T6

Best car I have owned to dateI have owned my 2013 S60 T6 AWD for a little over 2 years now and it is an exceptional car. The looks, the power, the handling, all around a very solid and capable vehicle. I have taken it on several road trips and every mile is a joy to drive - I have not had any serious issues and have just done regular maintenance. Would highly recommend the 3.0 T6 AWD S60 if you can find one!

VOLVO DREAM CAR NIGHTMARE....Under 100,000 miles and even with oil changes done on point, a engine replaced fuel to using oil!!! The interior leather is a joke, I mean an absolute catastrophe(tearing, falling apart)!! the chrome on the steering wheel appears to be aluminum foil; I WOULD NEVER BUY ANOTHER VOLVO FOR FEAR THEY ALL ARE MADE THIS SORRY

Best driving car I have ownedI love this car; it feels solid like a tank and goes like a missile on the freeway. Cons: no spare tire, small back seat, not fun in parking lots. Pros: handling, power, style, highway mileage good, comfort Tips: Drive in “sport modeâ€, use cruise control for good mileage on long trips. Replace Michelins ($900) with Sumitomo ($500) when replacing tires.

Best car i've owned so farI was on the market for a AWD car for the Nebraska winters and the local Volvo dealership caught my eye. They had listed a 2013 Volvo S60 T5 AWD for a fair price so i test drove it and basically took it home a day later. Have had minimal issues aside from just usual maintenance. The fuel pump went out at around 95k as i got it with 90k miles approx. The car had a bumper to bumper warranty so no out of pocket expenses. I've kept up on my oil changes and other usual maintenace and i'm currently into 18k miles of ownership. No complaints! It puts the power down when needed (i've added a few performance mods) and is decent on gas mileage if you don't have a lead foot like me. The turbo helps with entering the highway or really whenever you wanna do some spirited driving. Would recommend this car to others!
