Analysis
What Problems Does the 2023 Volvo S60 Have?
Recalls for the 2023 Volvo S60 have been issued, typically addressing safety-related concerns such as potential issues with the braking system or airbag deployment. It's important to check the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) website for the most up-to-date recall information. Long-term reliability concerns generally focus on the complexity of the vehicle's electronics and the potential for increased maintenance costs associated with the hybrid powertrain in the Recharge models. While Volvo has a reputation for safety and build quality, the long-term durability of newer, more technologically advanced models remains to be seen. Owners are advised to adhere to the recommended maintenance schedule and address any unusual symptoms promptly to mitigate potential issues.
How long will the 2023 Volvo S60 last?
What Technology & Safety Features are Included?
Standard driver-assistance features include lane keeping assist, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and automatic emergency braking. Optional features include adaptive cruise control with Pilot Assist, Volvo's semi-autonomous driving system that can handle steering, acceleration, and braking in certain highway conditions. A 360-degree surround-view camera is also available.
Volvo prioritizes safety, and the S60 is typically awarded excellent crash-test ratings from both the NHTSA and the IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety). These ratings often include top scores in frontal, side, and rollover crash tests, reflecting the vehicle's robust safety structure and advanced safety technologies. These safety features make it a compelling choice for safety-conscious buyers.

How Does the 2023 Volvo S60 Compare to Other Sedan?
In terms of features, the S60 offers a competitive suite of standard and available technology, particularly in safety and driver-assistance. Reliability is generally good, though some rivals like the Acura TLX may have a slight edge. Price-wise, the S60 is typically positioned competitively within its class.
Alternatives to consider include the Acura TLX for its value and reliability, or the BMW 3 Series for a sportier driving experience. The Mercedes-Benz C-Class is a good choice for those prioritizing luxury. If a sportier and more engaging driving experience is desired, the BMW 330i or M340i could be better alternatives. For similar features at a slightly lower price point, the Acura TLX is worth considering.

Final Verdict: Is the 2023 Volvo S60 a Good Sedan?

Subdued luxuryHad a 2014 Honda Sport and decided I to try a luxury car that wouldn't break the budget, so bought the cheapest used Volvo S60. It's great. It's extremely comfortable (with very adjustable seats), the sound system is outstanding, it handles turns really well, is nice and quiet, is really nice looking without being flashy, and it's touchscreen features are very easy to use especially with voice control. I live in a city, so one reason I chose it is because I read that Volvo's are not popular among thieves. Another reason I chose it is that my two friends who have Volvo's (XC models) swear by them, and one is 6'4" with a bad back.

Best car I have ownedFirst Volvo I have owned and I love it, it is the best car I have owned. I previously had Mercedes and BMW, this beats both hands down in looks, equipment and performance. I went for the Ultimate trim level, the dealership had a Plus and the Ultimate available. The plus is great, but the Ultimate has so much more, HUD, 360 degree camera etc. Touches like the fog lights activating at night when you turn the wheel so whichever direction you're turning has extra lighting and the headlight washers that pop up out of the bumper to help keep your lights bright just add to the overall feeling of quality. The exterior styling is striking, and in storm grey with the bright finish it catches the eye and gets compliments on looks. Mine has the Polestar engineering extra which makes performance very entertaining, I have yet to put it in Polestar mode (sport mode) but in normal mode this thing takes off like a rocket.
