The Good
The 2014 M-Class offers strong performance and a comfortable ride, appealing to emotional buyers seeking luxury and a prestigious badge. Practical buyers appreciate the spacious cabin, available technology, and respectable fuel efficiency for its class. While not the most reliable, it provides a premium driving experience and a sense of security.
The Bad
Potential weaknesses of the 2014 M-Class include higher maintenance costs compared to non-luxury SUVs. What Problems Does the 2014 Mercedes-Benz M-Class Have?
Recalls for the 2014 M-Class have addressed concerns such as potential fuel leaks, issues with the brake booster, and problems with the seat belt pre-tensioners. It's essential to check the vehicle's VIN against the NHTSA database to ensure all applicable recalls have been addressed.
Long-term reliability concerns often revolve around the maintenance of complex systems. The diesel engine (ML250 BlueTEC) can be prone to issues related to the diesel particulate filter (DPF) and other emissions components. Oil leaks, particularly from the engine and transmission, can also occur as the vehicle ages. Regular maintenance and addressing minor issues promptly can help mitigate these concerns. Some model years prior to 2014 had issues with the balance shaft, so checking the history of the specific vehicle is crucial. Overall, regular servicing at qualified repair facilities is important for long-term reliability.

How Does the 2014 Mercedes-Benz M-Class Compare to Other Sport Utility Vehicle?
Price-wise, the M-Class sits in the middle of the pack, being more expensive than the Acura MDX but potentially more affordable than a similarly equipped BMW X5. A good alternative might be the Lexus RX 350 for those prioritizing reliability and a smooth ride, or the Acura MDX for those seeking a more budget-friendly option with good practicality. The BMW X5 provides a sportier driving experience, but at a potentially higher ownership cost. Ultimately, the best choice depends on individual priorities and preferences.

Nice car but for big walletI bought this car with 90k miles. After a week start having engine problems.Very expensive cost for maintenance and repairs. In general is a very nice car but not for USA. Except you are willing to pay extreme amount of money for maintenance.

Lot of car for the money$$Have a 14' ML 550, car was 70K new, this one with 65K miles was 27k pre owned. The vehicle is comfortable, deceivingly fast, and feels solid at highway speeds. I had been with BMW 15 years, but these M Class vehicles are more reliable overall and check more boxes with daily drivability. While BMW is certainly a driver's car, the cost to keep up is more. Tires that last only 25k, brakes @ 30k, oil leaks and so on. Audi Q5 is an inferior vehicle, smaller and has a choppy ride, especially on long trips and has a 4 cyl turbo which is loud, unless you get the SQ5. This is the 3rd M Class we have owned and had great reliability out of them into the 200k mile range. I don't see why this one won't as well. Very good ride on trips, has lane assist, active steering, collision avoidance, side cameras, parking sensors, and many other safety features. The 550 has a 4.7 twin turbo V8 that will run with the best on the road, a real sleeper with performance. Very smooth acceleration. Has a lot of features standard that are up charged on the ML350. These are a little hard to find since 75% that were sold were ML 350 V6 models. No substitute for engine size and power out on the highway. If you can pick one up, you will be satisfied, for sure.

This car is not relaible . . . !!!Transmission issues. I didn't that a car bearing the Merceds-Benz badge would have so many issues, but this one is a LEMON trying to squeeze me for juice !!!!
