What Problems Does the 2007 Mercedes-Benz M-Class Have?
Recalls for the 2007 M-Class have addressed issues like fuel filter leaks and potential brake light malfunctions. It's important to check the vehicle's VIN against recall databases to ensure all necessary repairs have been performed. Long-term reliability is a concern due to the complex electronics and systems. Regular maintenance is crucial, but even with meticulous care, some of these issues may arise. Specifically, the ML350 can experience issues with the balance shaft, leading to costly repairs. The ML63 AMG, while exciting, has increased maintenance demands due to its high-performance engine and components. Early years of the W164 generation (2006-2007) seemed to have slightly more reported problems compared to later years, but that could also be due to the age of the vehicles.
How long will the 2007 Mercedes-Benz M-Class last?
What Technology & Safety Features are Included?
Safety features were a priority, with standard features including front and side airbags, side curtain airbags, and a tire pressure monitoring system. Optional safety features included a rearview camera.
Crash-test ratings from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) show that the 2007 M-Class received good ratings in frontal offset and side impact tests. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) gave it four or five stars in various crash tests. The available tech and safety features provided a reasonably modern experience for its era, though lacking some of the advanced driver-assistance systems found in newer vehicles.

How Does the 2007 Mercedes-Benz M-Class Compare to Other Sport Utility Vehicle?
The M-Class offered a more luxurious interior than some of its rivals, but its reliability lagged behind the Lexus and Acura. The BMW X5 provided a sportier driving experience, while the M-Class aimed for a balance of comfort and capability. If reliability is a top priority, the Acura MDX or Lexus RX would be better choices. If you prefer a sportier driving experience, the BMW X5 is a strong contender. Considering the age and potential maintenance costs, opting for a well-maintained Acura MDX or Lexus RX could be a more sensible decision for long-term ownership. These alternatives often offer a better balance of reliability, features, and price.
