The 2007 Chevrolet Corvette, a continuation of the C6 generation (2005-2013), offered iconic American sports car styling. Available as a coupe (with a removable targa top) and convertible, its key trims included the base model, Z06, and later, the Grand Sport. It stands out for its blend of powerful performance, relatively affordable price point, and comfortable ride, making it a popular choice for enthusiasts. Pricing ranged from approximately $44,000 new to $75,000 for the Z06.
The Good

The 2007 Corvette boasts impressive performance with a powerful V8 engine. It offers a comfortable ride suitable for daily driving and long trips. The design is classic Corvette, turning heads. Reliability is generally good, and for the performance offered, it provides excellent value. Emotionally, it's an iconic sports car; practically, it's a dependable and relatively affordable performance vehicle.

The Bad

Some 2007 Corvettes experience issues with the harmonic balancer, which can lead to engine damage if not addressed. The seats can show wear and tear. Also, be mindful of potential electronic glitches and ensure all features are functioning correctly. Early C6 models were known for some interior fit and finish issues.

What Problems Does the 2007 Chevrolet Corvette Have?

The 2007 Corvette, like other C6 models, has a few recurring issues. A prominent concern is the harmonic balancer, particularly on earlier C6 models. This part can fail, potentially causing significant engine damage if not addressed promptly. Listen for any wobbling or unusual noises from the front of the engine. Some owners have reported problems with the column lock system, which could prevent the car from starting; however, this was more prevalent in earlier C6 years (2005-2006), but can occur.
Other reported issues include problems with the tires pressure monitoring system (TPMS) sensors. Additionally, some owners have noted issues with the interior trim pieces coming loose or wearing prematurely. Check the driver's seat bolster for wear.
While the LS2 engine is generally reliable, regular maintenance is key. The Z06, with its LS7 engine, can be prone to valve guide wear issues, though this is more of a long-term concern and often manifests at higher mileage. Check for excessive oil consumption on Z06 models.
Regarding recalls, check the NHTSA website for any outstanding recalls affecting the specific vehicle identification number (VIN). Staying on top of scheduled maintenance is crucial for long-term reliability.

How long will the 2007 Chevrolet Corvette last?

With proper maintenance, a 2007 Chevrolet Corvette can easily surpass 150,000 miles and provide over 15 years of service. Many well-maintained examples are still on the road with over 200,000 miles. However, neglecting maintenance, especially oil changes and cooling system flushes, can shorten its lifespan. Long-term durability is generally good, but potential weaknesses include the aforementioned harmonic balancer, valve guide wear (Z06), and the effects of age on rubber components like weather stripping and bushings. Regular inspections and preventative maintenance are crucial for maximizing its longevity.

I've owned 1969,1982,1991, and currently 2004 Corvette. Hands down the 2004 is the BEST corvette I have ever owned. I have 33,000 miles on it and it still runs great and everything works as it should.

I bought this 2007 Lemans blue convertible from a fellow in Roslindale, MA 2 years ago. I waited all my life to own one and after literally years of research for the perfect one, I found it. It was worth the wait. This car is such heaven to drive and pure fun, fun, fun. It has 43000 miles and looks like it just came out of a showroom new. It turns heads wherever I go. I love it.

Negative Owner Reviews
Z06 driver
Performance of this Z06 is fantastic. Exterior looks great. Interior is the worst of any car I've ever owned. Unforgiveable on a car that cost close to $100k when new. The seat cushions have collapsed already with only 16,000miles on the clock. Tyre roar is ridiculous (another example of how terrible runflats are). Reliability is not good enough with numerous electrical niggles that seem to be untraceable. Leaks from rear of the car also and this is with the low mileage mentioned above. I'll keep it until after summer and then sell it. Would never buy one again. I could get over some of the problems if it was a cheap car but it's not. So close and yet so far. Try harder Chevy and you'll have a world beater. Until then you have a car that only competes with the best in fanboys heads.

What Technology & Safety Features are Included?

The 2007 Chevrolet Corvette offered a reasonable array of tech and safety features for its time. Standard equipment included dual-zone climate control, power windows and locks, and a CD player with MP3 capability. Some models had a Bose premium sound system. Navigation was available as an optional extra.
Driver-assistance features were limited compared to modern vehicles. It had standard antilock brakes (ABS) and traction control. Stability control (StabiliTrak) was also standard, enhancing handling in slippery conditions. The Z06 benefited from enhanced performance traction management.
Safety features included front airbags and side airbags. The Corvette does not offer modern driver-assistance systems like blind-spot monitoring or lane departure warning.
As for crash-test ratings, the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) gave the 2007 Corvette Coupe a 5-star rating for driver-side frontal crash protection and a 4-star rating for passenger-side frontal crash protection. Side crash protection was not rated. The convertible models have slightly different structural elements that may affect testing results.
Overall, the 2007 Corvette's tech reflects the era. It lacks advanced driver aids but provides essential safety features. The availability of navigation and a premium sound system were nice upgrades for those seeking a more modern in-car experience.

2007 Chevrolet Corvette Prices and Market Value

When new, the 2007 Chevrolet Corvette had an MSRP starting around $44,000 for the base coupe, while the Z06 started around $70,000. Today, used market prices vary greatly based on condition, mileage, and trim. Expect to find base models in good condition ranging from $18,000 to $25,000, while Z06 models can fetch between $30,000 and $40,000 or more for low-mileage, well-maintained examples.
Depreciation has been significant, but Corvettes tend to hold their value relatively well compared to other sports cars. Factors affecting resale value include mileage, overall condition, maintenance records, trim level (Z06 commands a premium), and any modifications made to the car. Low-mileage examples with original parts tend to sell for higher prices.

2007 Chevrolet Corvette Cost of Ownership

The 2007 Chevrolet Corvette is moderately costly to own. Insurance can be higher than average due to its sports car classification and performance capabilities. Fuel costs will depend on driving habits but can be significant, especially with the Z06. Regular maintenance, including oil changes and tire replacements, is typical for a performance vehicle. Repairs can be expensive, especially for engine or transmission issues. While not the most economical car, careful maintenance and conservative driving can help control ownership costs.

2007 Chevrolet Corvette Insurance

Insurance for a 2007 Chevrolet Corvette is moderately priced, reflecting its status as a Coupe with strong safety ratings and
reasonable repair costs.

How Does the 2007 Chevrolet Corvette Compare to Other Coupe?

The 2007 Chevrolet Corvette competed with sports cars like the Porsche 911, BMW M6, and Nissan 350Z/370Z. In terms of performance, the Corvette, particularly the Z06, offered comparable or superior horsepower at a lower price point. The Porsche 911 offered sharper handling and a more refined interior, but came at a significant cost premium. The BMW M6 provided a more luxurious experience, but wasn't as focused on outright performance as the Corvette. The Nissan 350Z/370Z were more affordable but lacked the Corvette's power and refinement.
Reliability-wise, the Corvette is generally considered fairly reliable, but may have some specific issues as noted earlier. The Porsche 911 is known for its strong reliability. The BMW M6 can be more costly to maintain.
In terms of features, the Corvette offered a good balance, but its interior wasn't as upscale as the Porsche or BMW.
Alternatives to consider include the later C6 Corvettes (2008-2013) for updated features, or a used Porsche 911 if budget allows for superior handling and refinement. A Nissan 370Z might be considered for a less expensive, but still sporty, option. For raw performance per dollar, the Corvette is hard to beat.

Final Verdict: Is the 2007 Chevrolet Corvette a Good Coupe?

The 2007 Chevrolet Corvette is a great choice for enthusiasts seeking a powerful and stylish sports car at a reasonable price. It's ideal for those who appreciate American muscle and a comfortable ride for daily driving. It's worth buying if you're aware of its potential issues and are prepared to maintain it properly. A well-maintained used model is the best value. The Z06 is desirable for its enhanced performance, but be mindful of potential valve guide wear at higher mileage. A pre-purchase inspection by a qualified mechanic is highly recommended, regardless of the trim level.

I got my 2007 C-6, in Atomic Orange, in 2020.

I got my 2007 C-6, in Atomic Orange, in 2020. I found out about it from my sister’s youngest son’s girlfriend, who also was my oldest grandson’s pre-school teacher. Her mom was the executor of her cousin’s estate and had moved the car from her cousin’s home to her farm. Yes, it was actually sitting in a barn with a dead battery and covered in dust and pigeon droppings. The interior looked brand new. This was because after putting a new battery in, I saw that this 13 year old beast had only 6300 miles on it! The owner, who had passed away in 2018, had traded her 1992 C-4 in on the ‘07, drove it a few times and parked it because having double the HP scared her to drive it. Long story short, I saw it, drove it, fell in love with it and got it for a song! Took it home and immediately gave it a bath, using a foam cannon and microfiber mitt of course. Four years later, I’ve put another 7K miles on it and I have no plans of parting with it anytime soon! The only drawback is the interior, which is pretty much the cheapest looking interior styling that resembles an old Chevette. Chevy gave the C-7 a complete overhaul of the interior design in 2014. However, the outside looks great, the handling is superb and the 6.0 LS-2 has gobs of HP and torque. Awesome find after being retired for a couple years and living the dream!

Great, once you read the owners manual.

I bought this car, a black C6 Corvette coupe with the removable hard top, primarily for its exterior styling and looks. It caused me some problems in the beginning, I got it in 2010 with 17,000 miles on the odometer and now, 10 years later it sits at 29,000. When you purchase a Vette its alot like getting married. Its for better or worse. It has a mind of its own pretty much. It locked me in it 2 times and I had to call AAA to help me get out. I had a key made to get in the back hatch and learned there was a cable in the cargo compartment you can pull and it will open the drivers door. But its very scary. Sometimes it won't let me in, even with a new fob battery. I still don't know why. It locked itself in park one time and I had to get a mechanic out to tear the console apart and fix it. Then the push button start pushed all the way into the dash and I had to have it repaired. Remember this. If you aren't prepared to put quite a bit of money out to fix these unexpected problems, don't buy one. Several times I came very close to selling it but like a wife, you're willing to go the extra mile to make the relationship work. And when I drive it with the top out on a gorgeous summer day,bit makes it all worthwhile. I also get noticed ALOT. Hope this helps you decide. All in all. I'd recommend it but only if you have alot of money and patience.

Exceptional value for this type of performance!!!

I've owned this car for about a year now and I have NO regrets! Although it is 13 years old, it is still king of the road! The exterior design is FLAWLESS and I get TONS of compliments. Gas mileage is IMPECCABLE especially for a 6 litre, V8! The targa top is an added bonus. Interior is simple. Lacks high quality woods, metals and fibers but these things aren't necessary. If you're considering this vehicle, STOP! GRAB 1 before they're all gone!!!
