The Good
The 2013 Traverse offers a blend of practicality and comfort. Its spacious interior and smooth ride appeal to families. The V6 engine provides adequate performance, and its relatively fuel-efficient for its size. The design, while not groundbreaking, is inoffensive and functional. It's a value proposition for those needing lots of passenger and cargo space.

What Problems Does the 2013 Chevrolet Traverse Have?
Electrical problems, such as issues with the power windows, door locks, and infotainment system, are not uncommon. The air conditioning system is also prone to malfunctions, particularly with the compressor. Several recalls were issued for the 2013 Traverse, including concerns related to the airbag system, seat belt cables, and windshield wiper functionality. These recalls should be verified as completed before purchasing a used model.
Long-term reliability is a concern due to these issues. Regular maintenance, particularly oil changes, is crucial to mitigate the risk of oil consumption and timing chain wear. Addressing any unusual noises or shifting problems promptly can potentially prevent more significant transmission damage. Due diligence in checking the vehicle's service history and inspecting for any signs of the aforementioned problems is strongly recommended before buying a used 2013 Traverse.

What Technology & Safety Features are Included?
Driver-assistance features were limited, but the LTZ trim offered blind-spot monitoring. Standard safety features included antilock brakes, stability control, and a suite of airbags, including side-curtain airbags for all three rows. Optional safety equipment included rear parking assist.
Crash test ratings from the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) were generally positive. The 2013 Traverse received an overall 5-star safety rating. The IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) also gave the Traverse good ratings in most crash tests. However, it's important to note that safety standards and testing procedures have evolved since 2013, so modern vehicles may offer superior protection. Always verify specific crash test results from reputable sources for the most accurate information.

How Does the 2013 Chevrolet Traverse Compare to Other Wagon?
The Ford Explorer offers a sportier driving experience, while the Nissan Pathfinder was redesigned in 2013, giving it a more modern interior. Price-wise, the Traverse is often slightly more affordable on the used market, reflecting its reliability concerns.
Alternatives to consider are the Honda Pilot and Toyota Highlander, which offer superior reliability. If budget is a major concern and you're willing to accept the risks, the Traverse can be a viable option, but a thorough inspection and budget for potential repairs are essential. The redesigned 2013 Nissan Pathfinder might also be a good alternative to look at.

Final Verdict: Is the 2013 Chevrolet Traverse a Good Wagon?

Looking for answers on my year Traverse!I have a 2013 Chevy Traverse that was taken care of. It has had an Alternator failure, Air Conditioner failure but overall is a fair vehicle for your money. But the other day I had a warning light saying thr transmission was overheated. The truck lost power and had to pull off road and let drivetrain cool off. Anyone know what should be done? I considered a transmission flush and transmission fluid change. Also noted that there are 4 recalls to repair safety issues. How can I find out if they have been fixed already? My registration lists truck as 4W. So do I have a 4WD or FWD? My Traverse has 199,000 miles. Should I trade in my SUV.

Ten Years without a Single ProblemI bought an LT model new in 2013 and have driven it daily ever since. I have not had a single problem of any sort.....no repairs, service, etc. other than oil changes at the proper intervals. The interior has held up beautifully, and the exterior paint has coped quite well with being parked outside in the hot desert sun. The gas mileage is around 16 to 17 MPG, which is rather low, but it is a large vehicle. Acceleration is excellent, but there is a lag before the transmission downshifts for passing. Overall, it is one of the nicest, quietest vehicles I have ever owned.

Local driving terrible on gasThe vehicle itself is a nice comfortable car. Highway driving itβs the best. Inner city driving itβs terrible on gas. Lucky to get 13 miles to a gallon

Great Family Car and still cool to drive to work!Nice, large enough for family and friends, dependable and sleek looking. The vehicle has extras in it that I didn't expected and bigger than I expected. It's great.

Great size. Comfortable ride.Comfortable ride and highway speeds, plenty of room for family of 4. I think the engine is a little under powered for the size of the vehicle, though that's pretty minor

Very ReliableBought certified used with 47000 miles. Have put over 60,000 miles on it with not troubles, only normal maintenance. Looking to get another newer used Traverse.

Transmission problem less than 24 hrsI haven't owned the vehicle 24 hours, tried to take it back the same day but the dealership was closed. Took it back the next day, only to find out the transmission is bad. So now, I have to get money together for car repairs. Have extended warranty but pretty sure claim will be denied due to pre existing condition, that the dealer claim they know NOTHING about.
