The Good
The 2016 Traverse offers a comfortable ride and generous passenger space (emotional appeal). Practically, it boasts a strong V6 engine for decent performance, acceptable reliability ratings, and represents a good value in the used market. Its family-friendly design and ample cargo capacity are also strong selling points. The smooth ride makes long trips enjoyable.
The Bad
Some 2016 Traverse owners have reported issues with the transmission, specifically rough shifting. The infotainment system can feel dated compared to newer vehicles. Also, fuel economy isn't the best in its class. Watch out for potential water leaks, and ensure regular maintenance to prevent costly repairs. Some early models had timing chain issues.

What Problems Does the 2016 Chevrolet Traverse Have?
Several recalls have affected the 2016 Traverse. Check the NHTSA website for the most up-to-date information, but recalls have included issues with the seat belts and airbags. These are safety-related recalls and should be addressed promptly.
Long-term reliability concerns often focus on the timing chain. While not as prevalent in the 2016 model as in earlier years, it's still something to be aware of. Listen for any unusual engine noises, especially rattling sounds upon startup. Some owners have also mentioned issues with the water pump failing, leading to potential overheating. Regular maintenance, including timely oil changes, can help mitigate some of these long-term concerns. The infotainment system can also exhibit glitches over time.

What Technology & Safety Features are Included?
Driver-assistance features, often optional, include blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and rear parking sensors. Forward collision alert and lane departure warning were also available.
Safety features include antilock brakes, stability control, and a full suite of airbags. OnStar provides automatic crash response and emergency assistance.
The 2016 Chevrolet Traverse earned good crash-test ratings from the IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) and NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration). Check their respective websites for specific ratings.
Entertainment options include a premium Bose audio system available on the LTZ trim and a rear-seat DVD entertainment system for long trips. Note that technology moves quickly, so the infotainment system can feel somewhat dated compared to newer models.

How Does the 2016 Chevrolet Traverse Compare to Other Wagon?
Price-wise, the Traverse is often more affordable on the used market than the Pilot or Highlander.
Alternatives: If reliability is a top priority, the Toyota Highlander or Honda Pilot are better choices, albeit potentially more expensive. If a more engaging driving experience is desired, consider the Ford Explorer or Mazda CX-9. The Kia Sorento offers a good balance of features and value.
The Nissan Pathfinder is another competitor, though its reliability ratings are similar to the Traverse.

I bought my LTZ as a Certified Pre Owned, already 5I bought my LTZ as a Certified Pre Owned, already 5 Years old. I have driven it for 3.5 years and just had to pay for my first Repair - a broken motor mount. It is quiet, smooth and comfortable. I am 6' 4" and go 250 lbs so space and comfort are paramount for me, and I could not be happier.

I will never own another Traverse.I will never own another Traverse. I’ve had so many issues with this vehicle it’s ridiculous. I’ve always been a Chevy loyalist but this vehicle has changed my whole attitude toward the brand!

Best Car Ever OwnedBest Car I Have Ever Owned. Will definitely Buy Same Car Again. This car is well worth the money. It actually gets great gas mileage to be a larger vehicle

Great car for peopleIt’s a great car for every day use but it could have better performance considering the engine in the car. Not gonna lie but it does ok with slight modifications to increase power but would only recommend if you’re looking for a sleeper build lol. Over all it’s fairly comfortable , has its issues but it’s ok. Had to replace the transmission due to a recall. Apart from that it has over 98k miles on the original engine. I love the fun little features with the infotainment systems and the ltz trim was just perfect It does have a Tv in the 2nd row for the little ones I would 100% recommend this car as I got this car brand new with 2 miles from factory. It’s an amazing car.

My comments on my 2016 Chevy Traverse vehicleThis is my second traverse and I’ve never liked the seats in driver & passenger seats. They are uncomfortable getting in and out of. Not much room in back once front seats are adjusted and we’re not tall or large people! The windshield wipers are always noisy & scrub windshield. We purchased traverse as there was not enough room in any of the Equinox that we looked at and drove. Now that we’re older we would not purchase traverse or equinox due to way the seats are. The seating in my 2009 Traverse were much more comfortable and easier to get in and out of as the seats were so different than 2016 ones. Now I need to get recalls completed before we sell/trade! Thanks for reading and hopefully changes will be made in Traverse for the better! I’ve had Suburban that I really liked to as it was very roomy! My husband is a die-hard Chevy-GM customer and he has never bought me anything to drive but Chevrolets to drive.

Love it!I absolutely love my Traverse. It’s beautiful inside and out. I feel safe in this size vehicle after being in a car wreck, in a small car. The gas mileage is the only thing that would be considered a downside. Mine gets about 19 mpg.

Could drive a Traverse foreverWonderful experience and soooo much room for person and items… I have absolutely no complaints other than I didn’t have an automatic lift gate button
