The Good
The 2015 Trax offers good fuel efficiency, appealing to practical buyers. Its compact size makes it easy to maneuver and park in urban environments. Emotionally, it presents a youthful design and available tech features. While not a performance powerhouse, its ride is comfortable enough for daily commutes. Its affordability also adds to its value.
The Bad
Weaknesses of the 2015 Trax include its somewhat underpowered engine, leading to sluggish acceleration. The interior materials can feel cheap in some areas. Some owners have reported issues with the transmission and cooling system. Be sure to check for any signs of these problems during a pre-purchase inspection.

What Problems Does the 2015 Chevrolet Trax Have?
Another area of concern is the turbocharger, with some reports of premature failure. Check engine lights are relatively common, often linked to these aforementioned issues or problems with the emissions system.
Recalls have been issued for the 2015 Trax, so it's crucial to check the vehicle's VIN on the NHTSA website to ensure all applicable recalls have been addressed. Long-term reliability can be a concern, particularly regarding the transmission and cooling system. Regular maintenance, including fluid changes and inspections, is important to mitigate these risks. It’s worth noting that some issues appear more frequently in higher-mileage examples.

What Technology & Safety Features are Included?
Driver-assistance features are relatively basic for this model year. A rearview camera is standard, while rear parking sensors are available on higher trims like the LTZ. Safety features include ten standard airbags, electronic stability control, and antilock brakes. Optional safety features were limited.
Crash-test ratings from the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) show a 4-star overall safety rating. The IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) ratings vary, so it’s best to check specific reports for the 2015 model year on the IIHS website. While it has a decent set of standard safety features, it lacks many of the advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) found in newer vehicles. Optional features were fairly limited compared to modern subcompact SUVs.

How Does the 2015 Chevrolet Trax Compare to Other Wagon?
Alternatives to consider include the Honda HR-V for its superior reliability and interior space, the Mazda CX-3 for its sportier handling and upscale interior, and the Buick Encore (which shares a platform with the Trax but offers a more premium feel). If reliability is a top priority, the HR-V is a better choice. If driving experience is important, the CX-3 is a good alternative. The Jeep Renegade offers more off-road capability. Ultimately, the best choice depends on individual needs and priorities.

Final Verdict: Is the 2015 Chevrolet Trax a Good Wagon?
Buying used is the most sensible option, but a thorough pre-purchase inspection is crucial. Look for examples with documented maintenance history. The LT trim offers a good balance of features without the higher price of the LTZ. If budget allows, considering alternatives like the Honda HR-V might provide greater long-term satisfaction due to better reliability.

Love my 2015 Trax! Already at 110K miles!I leased my 2015 Chevy Trax (basic trim) new on March 2025 as my 21st birthday present to myself. Since it’s my first official first car purchase, I was on top of my maintenance. I’ve already taken it to a lot of road trips and decided to own it October 2018. Took it to more road trips ever since. The issues I had on it has been the AC. I did a whole 100k service on it as well, and have had to replace the spark plugs. Otherwise, the engine is still running great on me and now at 110K+ ! I am looking to replace this car at some point in the near future though since I’m growing out of it already. But I’m super happy with this car (I named my Trax as Trixie) as it has been reliable on me most of the time. It was fun to drive in my 20s and I personally love the handling on it as well. I’m driving my 2015 Trax till it completely dies on me. Would be a nice surprise if it gives me another 50-100K+ miles— we shall see!

Great carBrought brand new 2015 Trax AWD and now has 91,000 miles. I can't believe what people are saying about problems with there's,.I had to change the radio that cost me 735 bucks changed the transmission fluid and normal tune up along with brakes as normal. I hope this lasts for 200,000 miles as long as I change the oil at 40-50 percent. Best vehicle I have ever brought

2015 traxI bought my 2015 Trax in Oct 2016 with approx 13,000 miles. It was purchased bc of its small footprint to fit in a small garage. It meets all my needs for running errands. I don't do much traveling beyond 50 miles so can't speak to long distance driving. The first couple years I thought the seat was a bit stiff and uncomfortable but it's fine now. Also, the first year or so there was an issue with the tires holding air. It wasn't until I started overfilling a bit that they sealed properly (I'm not recommending others to do that rather just stating it worked for me). The car gets fantastic gas mileage...33-35 mpg. There is adequate storage and hauling capacity if you don't expect too much. It hasn't needed any repairs. Oil is changed every 3,000 miles or so. If this car lasts 200,000 miles as they say it can it'll definitely outlast me.

A recall that can cause death, but they denyI just think it's funny how my 2015 Chevy Trax has the same problem with the control arm that has been recalled. They say my vin number says there is no recalls for my car? Explain that. It can cause death.

Stay away from this turkey!!!I've never owned a car with so many repair issues. I've had it in three times for oil leaks from different areas. With 70,000 miles on it, I've spent over $5,000 at the dealership chasing the leaky engine. What a piece of junk. The shifter broke too--$1,500 to fix that too. Lifelong GM owner, but will be staying away from GM products from now on.

Attractive and fits my styleI love the car. It fits my style. I have always had very small cars. I wanted something a little bigger and a crossover. This fit perfectly. The interior is nicely styled. The exterior is very nice looking as well. It was low mileage. But, due to shenanigans at the dealership, I ended up way overpaying on cost. I still like the car a lot.
