The Good
The 2016 Chevrolet Trax offers advantages like good fuel efficiency and maneuverability, appealing to practical buyers seeking an economical city car. Emotionally, its compact size and available vibrant colors can attract those wanting a stylish and easy-to-park SUV. While performance isn't thrilling, the Trax provides adequate comfort for daily commutes and decent value for its price point.
The Bad

What Problems Does the 2016 Chevrolet Trax Have?
Recalls for the 2016 Trax have included concerns regarding the front suspension, potentially leading to a separation and loss of control. There have also been recalls related to the side airbag inflators.
Long-term reliability concerns often center around the durability of the 1.4L turbocharged engine. Carbon buildup on the intake valves can be an issue, leading to reduced performance and potential engine misfires. Owners should also be vigilant about monitoring oil levels, as some engines have been known to consume oil at a higher-than-normal rate. Regularly scheduled maintenance, including oil changes and inspections of the cooling and air conditioning systems, is crucial for mitigating these potential problems. Checking for any outstanding recalls before purchasing a used 2016 Trax is also highly recommended.

What Technology & Safety Features are Included?
Driver-assistance features are limited, with the LTZ trim offering rear parking sensors. There are no advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) like automatic emergency braking or lane departure warning available on the 2016 model.
Safety features include standard antilock brakes, stability control, traction control, and ten airbags.
The NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) gave the 2016 Trax an overall safety rating of 5 stars. The IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) gave the Trax a 'Good' rating in most crash tests, but 'Marginal' in the small overlap front test.
Optional features included all-wheel drive, which enhances traction in slippery conditions, and upgraded audio systems. While the tech and safety features are adequate, they are not as advanced as some of its competitors, especially concerning driver-assistance technologies. The infotainment system is user-friendly, however, and the crash-test ratings provide some reassurance regarding safety.

How Does the 2016 Chevrolet Trax Compare to Other Wagon?
Reliability is where the Trax falls short, with more reported issues compared to the HR-V and CX-3. The Jeep Renegade offers more rugged styling and off-road capability, while the Nissan Juke provides a more distinctive design. In terms of price, the Trax is generally competitive, especially on the used market.
Alternatives to consider include the Honda HR-V, which offers better reliability and more interior space. The Mazda CX-3 is a sportier option with a more refined interior. The Kia Soul is another alternative, providing a similar price point and unique styling. If reliability is a primary concern, the HR-V is a better choice. If driving enjoyment is a priority, the CX-3 is preferable. However, if budget is the main consideration, a well-maintained Trax could still be a viable option.

This is the worst car I've ever had!I've had nothing, but problems since I bought the car. Transmission, engine misfire, paint peeling, parts constantly breaks on the car. The car is serviced timely, flushes, oil changes, etc... It doesn't make a difference. It's a horrible car. I can't wait to get rid of it. Chevy has definitely went down.

Wouldn't recommendI bought my 2016 Chevy Yrax new from the dealership in January 2017 and at first I loved it. Then the issues started (about EIGHT warranty claims in a year or so.) Now it's well out of warranty but has had plenty of issues since off and on. Then when I take it in to be assessed it often will act fine so they can't find the issue. Long story short, NEVER buying a trax again...anyone I talk to including mechanics has recommended against them (wish I knew that before I bought it.)

Great carI’m enjoying the car so far. It only had a couple of minor problems that I got fixed at no cost to me because it was covered under warranty.

Disappointed in my selection of vehicle. Sorry!I just bought this 2016 6 months ago and I have had in shop twice already, had the cabin filter changed and now blower not working good now. I work part time and get a small social security check and i think buying this car was a mistake. Maybe will have to trade it back in. I need a car for my job but not one that will keep putting me in debt.

Turbo problemsMultiple electrical problems and turbo problems that are known to GM and still no recall. GM should be required to at least replace the Turbocharger.
