What Problems Does the 2014 Dodge Charger Have?
Recalls for the 2014 Charger have addressed issues such as potential fuel leaks, faulty airbags, and problems with the anti-lock braking system (ABS). It's crucial to check the vehicle's VIN against the NHTSA database to ensure all applicable recalls have been addressed.
Long-term reliability concerns include potential engine issues, especially with higher mileage V8 models. Oil consumption can be a problem in some cases. Rust can also be a concern in areas with harsh winters. Regular maintenance and timely repairs are essential to mitigate these risks and ensure the vehicle's longevity. Early model year 2011-2014 Chargers had some reports of transmission hesitation which seemed to be resolved through software updates. Check service records for such updates.

How Does the 2014 Dodge Charger Compare to Other Sedan?
In terms of features, the Charger offers a competitive range of tech and safety options, although some rivals may have more advanced driver-assistance systems. Reliability is a mixed bag, with the Charger potentially facing more electronic issues than the Avalon or Impala.
In terms of price, the Charger offers good value, particularly on the used market. Similar alternatives include the Chrysler 300 (for a more luxurious experience) or the Ford Taurus SHO (for a balance of performance and practicality). If reliability is a top priority, the Toyota Avalon might be a better choice.

Final Verdict: Is the 2014 Dodge Charger a Good Sedan?
A used 2014 Charger R/T offers a great balance of performance and value. A thorough inspection for potential electrical or suspension issues is crucial. Lower trims like the SE or SXT are suitable for those prioritizing affordability and fuel efficiency over outright power. The SRT8 is a performance bargain if you can find one in good condition, but be prepared for higher running costs.

Take care of your car of today if you want it.At 129,000 mi I replaced the plugs, igniti on coils, belt tensioner and belt,PCV,M AP sensor, water pump, new aluminum coolant crossover( by plastic), aluminu m thermostat housing and thermostat ,upper & lower radiator hoses, new all aluminum oil filter housing(by plastic),n ew lower& upper intake manifold gaske ts,cut out the plastic heater core "Tee" and installed a metal 1"x1"x1/2" and ne w hose clamps, flushed and refilled OAT antifreeze, drained trany pan and put in new oil filter and new trany pan"with a installed drain plug" in it,replaced the 3.5 qts of synthetic ATF+4 transmission fluid that come out of it and used the trany fluid check stick at 150° F throug h the "dealer only" trany fluid tube cap to 63 mm measurement trany fluid leve l,replaced both upstream O2 sensors, cleaned the throttle and throttle body, put on a new lower engine oil pan( that the oil change shop stripped the drain plug threads out on) changed the 5W-2 0 synthetic oil,and drained/ pumped out all rear end gear lube oil and put in new 75W-140 gear lube. I figure, that, my 2014 charger SE 3.6L should be good for another 100,000 to 200,000 miles ( of course,I will drain an d refill the trany fluid again after 10,00 0 to 15,000 mi to bring my fluid ratio up to 75% -90% clean/ new trany fluid) . I've already brought my MPG up from 18 mpg to 26mpg Lesson and advice--"take care of your car/ investment and you won't have to spend another $30,000 to $90,000 for/on a new car' (I call "the junk and crap cars of today)". Personally-im considering a 1960' s to 1970's dodge,Chevy SS,Pontiac, cuda,or GTO of yester-year I remember owning and diving in my youth( 45+ years ago).

2014 Chargerwe bought ours in 2016 with 33,000 miles. It replaced a 2009 Pontiac Vibe. It's as good on gas at 25-31mpg and it rides and drives so much better! 5 people ride comfortably. it's had minimal repairs, has 177,000 miles now and still going. it rides, drives and great. has been on 10w30 Mobil1 since we got it and changing oil every 10,000 miles it's never used any oil. I hope to find another one before we stop driving.

Best vehicle I have owned!I have owned the 2014 R/T AWD plus blacktop edition for 5 years now (bought slightly used). What a great car! Might be the best car I have ever owned (and I've owned many cars). Great ride, good tech that still holds up to todays standards, lots of power, smooth ride, quiet, comfortable. At 100k miles, no issues. Almost no rattles, no rust. Best snow vehicle I've ever had up to about 7 inches of snow. I'm hoping that Stellantis comes out with a high HP hybrid or “e†model in the next few years, so I can buy another, since they are getting rid of the Hemi's. I would highly recommend this vehicle.
