What Problems Does the 2015 Ford Transit Connect Have?

Frequently reported problems for the 2015 Ford Transit Connect include issues with the automatic transmission, particularly rough shifting or delayed engagement. Some owners have also reported problems with the MyFord Touch infotainment system, such as freezing, slow response times, and connectivity issues.
There have been recalls related to potential fuel leaks, which could increase the risk of fire, as well as issues with the door latches. Checking the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) website for specific recalls affecting your vehicle's VIN is recommended.
Long-term reliability concerns can include premature wear of brake components and potential issues with the engine cooling system. The 1.6L EcoBoost engine, while fuel-efficient, has had reported issues in other Ford vehicles relating to coolant intrusion. Regular maintenance and addressing any unusual noises or behaviors promptly can help mitigate potential long-term problems.

How long will the 2015 Ford Transit Connect last?

With regular maintenance, a 2015 Ford Transit Connect can easily reach 150,000 to 200,000 miles. Many owners report 10+ years of service with proper care. Key to longevity is consistent oil changes, transmission fluid services, and addressing any engine or transmission issues promptly.
Long-term weaknesses can include rust, particularly in areas with harsh winters. Suspension components may also require replacement over time. The lifespan of the infotainment system can also be a limiting factor for some owners.
Positive Owner Reviews
Bob Johnson
I use this for my plumbing business. It's the perfect size for carrying tools and supplies, and the gas mileage is surprisingly good. The reliability has been solid so far.
Susan Miller
I needed a vehicle with lots of cargo space but didn't want a gas guzzler. This fits the bill perfectly. It's easy to drive and park in the city.
David Lee
Bought this used and I'm happy with the purchase. It's a workhorse and haven't had any major issues. The interior is pretty basic, but it's functional.
Negative Owner Reviews
Maria Rodriguez
It's a decent vehicle for hauling things around. Don't expect luxury, but it gets the job done. The seats aren't the most comfortable for long drives.
Michael Brown
It's okay, but I wish it had a bit more horsepower. Struggles a bit when fully loaded, especially on hills.
Jessica Garcia
The seats could be more comfortable, and the engine is a bit noisy. Otherwise, it is okay. It gets me and my equipment where I need to go.

What Technology & Safety Features are Included?

The 2015 Ford Transit Connect offers a range of tech, entertainment, and safety features. Standard features typically include a basic AM/FM radio with an auxiliary input. Higher trims like the XLT and Titanium offer the MyFord Touch infotainment system with a touchscreen display, Bluetooth connectivity, and USB ports.
Available driver-assistance features include a rearview camera and rear parking sensors. Safety features include standard antilock brakes, stability control, and multiple airbags.
Optional features included a navigation system and remote start. Crash-test ratings from the NHTSA and IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) should be checked for the specific model year and configuration, as ratings can vary. Generally, the Transit Connect performs adequately in crash tests, offering reasonable occupant protection. The small overlap front crash test rating from IIHS is particularly important to review. However, it's important to acknowledge that being a van, the results won't match that of a standard passenger car.

2015 Ford Transit Connect Insurance

Insurance for a 2015 Ford Transit Connect is moderately priced, reflecting its status as a Sport Utility Vehicle Van Long Wheelbase with strong safety ratings and
reasonable repair costs.

How Does the 2015 Ford Transit Connect Compare to Other Sport Utility Vehicle Van Long Wheelbase?

Key rivals to the 2015 Ford Transit Connect include the Ram ProMaster City and the Nissan NV200. In terms of performance, the Transit Connect offers a good balance of fuel efficiency and adequate power, while the ProMaster City might feel a bit more powerful. Feature-wise, all three offer similar basic amenities, but the Transit Connect’s higher trims offer more upscale options.
Reliability is a mixed bag; all three have their potential issues. However, the Transit Connect’s available EcoBoost engine has had coolant intrusion concerns in other Ford models that owners should consider.
Price-wise, the Transit Connect generally falls in the middle. The NV200 tends to be the most affordable.
Alternatives to consider depend on needs. If maximum cargo capacity is paramount, the larger ProMaster City might be preferable. If budget is the biggest concern, the NV200 is a good option. The Transit Connect is a strong all-around choice balancing efficiency, features, and price, particularly for those needing a blend of cargo and passenger capabilities.

Final Verdict: Is the 2015 Ford Transit Connect a Good Sport Utility Vehicle Van Long Wheelbase?

The 2015 Ford Transit Connect is ideal for small businesses, delivery services, and families needing a versatile and fuel-efficient vehicle. It's worth buying if you prioritize maneuverability, good gas mileage, and flexible cargo/passenger configurations.
A used 2015 Transit Connect is a good value, particularly if well-maintained and with a clean vehicle history report. Consider the XLT trim for a good balance of features and affordability. Have a mechanic inspect the transmission and check for any signs of coolant leaks, especially if considering a model with the 1.6L EcoBoost engine.
