The Good
The 2014 Highlander offers a smooth and comfortable ride, known for its reliability and spacious interior, appealing to practical buyers. Its redesigned exterior and updated interior provide a more modern and stylish look, attracting those seeking emotional satisfaction from their vehicle. The V6 engine offers decent performance and reasonable fuel efficiency for its class.
The Bad
Some owners have reported issues with the automatic transmission, particularly rough shifting. The base four-cylinder engine can feel underpowered, especially when fully loaded. The third-row seating, while present, is best suited for children. Infotainment system is considered outdated by today's standards and interior materials, while durable, may not feel as premium as some competitors.

2014 Toyota Highlander Prices and Market Value
The Highlander holds its value well due to Toyota's reputation for reliability and the vehicle's popularity as a family SUV. Lower mileage examples and those with comprehensive maintenance records command higher prices. Demand for SUVs also supports strong resale values. Depreciation is relatively slow compared to other vehicles in its class, making it a good investment for those concerned about retaining value.

How Does the 2014 Toyota Highlander Compare to Other Sport Utility Vehicle?
Price-wise, the Highlander is typically in the middle of the pack. The Honda Pilot is a very similar alternative, offering comparable reliability and family-friendly features. The Ford Explorer offers a sportier driving experience but may not be as reliable. The Chevrolet Traverse offers more space and a lower price but sacrifices some reliability and fuel economy. The Nissan Pathfinder offers a more stylish design, but its reliability has been questioned. The Pilot and Highlander are top choices based on their similar strengths.

Toyota used to do bettertwo issues after 100k. the struts on the lift gate fail. the variable valve intake gears fail costing 5k to replace of 12 k for rebuilt motor. That's what happened to me and we bought it new.

Newer Highlander - old one died saving my lifeGreat family vehicle. Drove my last one for 9 years and it still ran perfectly until I was in a bad wreck and totaled it. I walked away without a scratch after rolling and flipping it down a steep hill six times.

Fun to Drive, Versatile, Great PerformanceSimply the best SUV that we have ever owned. Really, Toyota makes the best trucks and cars. We have owned all the ""American brands"" Our advice: don't ever compare a Toyota Highlander to a Dodge Durango or a Ford Explorer or a Chevy Traverse. Fun to drive, power, quiet, strength, reliability are all superior in the Toyota. The ""American brands" are all lower cost... but for all the bad reasons!!

Love my car, but needs better interior designI have owned my 2014 Limited since it was new in 2014. It drives like a dream. I would not trade it for the world. The only downside that I see in this car is the plastic workings for the dash and the seatbelt housing. They come loose super easily now. I am not hard on my cars, but the clips seem to have worn down over time. I know my Toyota will be drivable until the body gives out so that is why I am keeping it. I just wish the interior was a little more sturdier to match the price tag!

My 4th ToyotaI thoroughly researched these type vehicles before purchasing. So far there have been no issues and it well meets and in some areas exceeds my expectation.

My favorite vehicle ever!We bought this 2014 highlander used with less than 50k miles on it to use as a family car. The XLE is incredible! It is so spacious, comfortable, functional, and I know it will be reliable through the years since it is a Toyota. We are so happy with our purchase!

98000 miles and never an issueThis is my second Highlander and if I have to replace it I will replace it with a Highlander. It is reliable and safe. I am extremely happy with this SUV.
