The Good
The 2022 Chevrolet Equinox offers a blend of practicality and comfort. Its smooth ride and quiet cabin appeal to emotional buyers, while its fuel efficiency and affordable price tag resonate with practical shoppers. Solid reliability, decent performance, and a stylish design are also key advantages. It provides a good value for the money spent.
The Bad
The 2022 Equinox's weaknesses include somewhat lackluster acceleration compared to some rivals and a smaller cargo area than some competitors. Some drivers find the single engine option uninspiring. Potential buyers should watch for issues with the infotainment system and potential electrical glitches. Road noise can also be noticeable at higher speeds.

What Problems Does the 2022 Chevrolet Equinox Have?
Recalls for the 2022 model year have been relatively limited, but it's always best to check the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) website for the latest recall information. Common areas to check include safety-related components, such as brakes and airbags. Long-term reliability concerns typically revolve around maintaining regular maintenance, especially oil changes, to prevent potential turbocharger issues. Staying on top of software updates for the infotainment system is also crucial to mitigate potential glitches. Overall, while not perfect, the 2022 Equinox doesn't have a pattern of major, widespread issues, but buyers should be aware of these potential problems.
How long will the 2022 Chevrolet Equinox last?
Long-term durability depends on how well the vehicle is maintained. Potential weaknesses include the turbocharger system, which can be sensitive to neglected oil changes. The infotainment system might also show signs of aging with software glitches and slower performance over time. However, with proactive care, the Equinox can provide reliable transportation for many years.
What Technology & Safety Features are Included?
Standard driver-assistance features include automatic emergency braking, forward collision alert, lane keep assist with lane departure warning, and a rear vision camera. Optional features include adaptive cruise control, rear cross-traffic alert, lane change alert with side blind zone alert, and a surround-view camera system.
Safety is a priority, and the Equinox typically receives good crash-test ratings from the NHTSA and IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety). Be sure to check the latest ratings for the 2022 model year specifically. Features like multiple airbags, electronic stability control, and traction control are standard. The availability of advanced safety features on higher trims enhances its safety profile. The combination of standard and available technology provides a comfortable and safe driving experience.

2022 Chevrolet Equinox Prices and Market Value
The Equinox experiences typical depreciation for its class. Factors affecting resale value include mileage, condition, trim level (Premier models tend to hold their value better), and accident history. Demand for used SUVs also plays a role. Well-maintained vehicles with lower mileage command higher prices.

How Does the 2022 Chevrolet Equinox Compare to Other Sport Utility Vehicle?
Price-wise, the Equinox is often competitively priced, making it an attractive value proposition. However, alternatives like the Mazda CX-5 offer a more engaging driving experience, while the Toyota RAV4 provides better fuel economy (especially in hybrid form) and higher predicted reliability. The Honda CR-V is known for its spacious interior. If performance and sporty handling are priorities, the Mazda CX-5 is a better choice. For maximum reliability and fuel efficiency, consider the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid or Honda CR-V Hybrid.

Bought a used 2022 Equinox in March 2024 for my teenageBought a used 2022 Equinox in March 2024 for my teenage daughter. Only has 22k miles. Got it for a very fair price. I drive it occasionally and really like how solid the car feels overall. It is not going to win any races with the 1.5L engine but it is perfect for a new driver. UNFORTUNATELY, that is where the good stuff ends. This vehicle just left my daughter stranded two hours from home on the side of an interstate highway. Got towed to the local Chevy dealership. They are telling me the ECM(Engine Control Module) is bad. 3-4 days to get the part so I will probably be without the vehicle for a week. In my life, I have been left stranded by two Fords and a Dodge now this Chevy. American car makers are making it very tough to want to buy their products. Have an Honda Odyssey with 190k miles and new Kia Carnival...no issues so far.

Great ExperienceI want people to know what a great buying experience I had at this dealership. I contacted 4 dealerships about 4 different cars, and Yassin F. was the only one that contacted me by phone, instead of a "canned" email. Yassin was so helpful and ran all over this large dealership (in the rain) to make sure things were just right. I would use Yassin again 100%. I hope he sells, sells, sells until all realize he is a role model. Shout out to Adam who answered my million questions!

great value / comfortable and reliablethis is my 3rd Equinox. I drove the prior 2 about 90,000 miles and had no repairs - very reliable. I have 25000 on this one - no problems - a comfortable drive. 30-32mpg on a trip and 26mpg around town. mine has heated seats and dual climate controls/ both work well

Excellent choiceAt first we were looking at the Trailblazer. Then we saw the Equinox on the lot, and we took it for a test drive. Once we were inside my wife said this is it. The vehicle was very comfortable, roomy and had very good performance. We've had this vehicle for over a year, we have drove it to Los Angeles twice from San Francisco and the gas mileage is phenomenal. I can go from San Francisco to LA on one tank of gas. In San Francisco, the hill assist is very useful. I am pleased with my vehicle and expect to use it for the next 10 years.

Loving my ChevyPurchased brand new 10/22/22 Malcom Cunningham Augusta Ga. Shot out Travis. On my 2 car’s Equinox & Malibu 22. I love my Equinox LT blue metallic color. Great on gas. Love the app & key fob for remote start. I have everything but. Heated steering wheel, leather seats & I’m ok with that. I get a lot of compliments about how nice the cars are. I gave the Malibu to my 36 yr old son and he loves it. No problem with it. My equinox when it’s really cold in Ga. It will malfunction with some features. Long story short. I looked at recalls and it’s quite a few. But nothing about features messing up.

Love our Equinox PremierOnly had the Equinox for about a month but my favorites so far are the adaptive cruise and heated steering wheel. Also like the all around cameras for backing up, and heated lumbar passenger seat. Great vehicle!! Kevin at Red Wing Chevrolet was great in helping us purchase this vehicle.

Worth a LookI was all set to buy an Escape when a friend recommended looking at the Equinox. I'm glad I did! I got the Reserve model and for less money than I would have spent on the Escape, I got everything I wanted plus a comfortable, good looking, AWD vehicle. I haven't had a Chevy since the mid 1980s and if you are in this same boat, they are worth a look. The heated seats and steering wheel are great, climate controls are NOT contained in the screen, and it does NOT have Adaptive Cruise Control (I can't be the only one who doesn't like that!). I have only driven it around town and am averaging about 25mpg, which isn't bad. The only option I got was the Red Line package, which adds a bit of "cool" to the car. I have only had the car a month, but based on the other reviews, I look forward to enjoying it for many years.

Better than my Lincoln MKZ!!I love my car!! Are used to have a Lincoln and thought that nothing would compare, but I was wrong! My 2022 equinox seems to have more room in the back and it’s definitely more comfortable in the front! I can’t imagine me ever buying a different car! Equinox will definitely be my go to from now on!

Poor fit and finishOne problem is the fit and finish, quality is lacking on this part of the build. The SUV looks nice from ten feet away not any closer.
