The Good
The 2020 Hyundai Tucson offers a blend of practical and emotional appeal. Its strengths include a comfortable ride, user-friendly infotainment, and a generous warranty (practical). Its stylish design and available panoramic sunroof also contribute to its appeal. While performance isn't sporty, it is adequate for daily driving. The Tucson represents excellent value for its price point, further solidifying its appeal.
The Bad
The 2020 Hyundai Tucson's weaknesses include somewhat lackluster acceleration from the base engine. Some owners have reported issues with the transmission's responsiveness. Fuel economy, while decent, isn't class-leading. The interior materials, though well-assembled, aren't as premium as some rivals. It is advisable to check for any unusual noises or hesitation during test drives, focusing on the transmission.

Analysis
What Problems Does the 2020 Hyundai Tucson Have?
Recalls for the 2020 Tucson have included potential issues with the Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) module, which could lead to a fire. Another recall concerned a potential engine oil leak.
Long-term reliability concerns generally revolve around the engine and transmission. While Hyundai's warranty is generous, consistent maintenance and addressing any early symptoms are crucial. It's advisable to check the vehicle's history for any prior recall work or reported issues. Prior model years of the Tucson (especially those from the early years of the third generation) had some engine issues that persisted into later model years, although Hyundai has addressed some of these with software updates and redesigned parts. Potential buyers should check for service records related to these earlier issues.
How long will the 2020 Hyundai Tucson last?
Long-term durability can be affected by the transmission. Some owners have reported issues over time, although consistent servicing can mitigate some of these concerns. Rust can be a potential weakness in regions with harsh winters and road salt, so regular washing and undercarriage cleaning are recommended. The engine, with proper care, tends to be reliable.
What Technology & Safety Features are Included?
Driver-assistance features are plentiful, even on lower trims. Standard features include forward collision warning, lane keeping assist, and driver attention warning. Optional features, available on higher trims, include blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, and pedestrian detection.
Safety features include standard airbags, anti-lock brakes, and electronic stability control. Higher trims add features like a surround-view monitor.
The 2020 Hyundai Tucson received generally positive crash-test ratings. The NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) awarded it an overall safety rating of 5 stars. The IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) gave it a "Top Safety Pick" rating, with good scores in most crashworthiness categories. Note that specific ratings can vary based on the model and testing criteria.

2020 Hyundai Tucson Prices and Market Value
Depreciation is average for the compact SUV class. Factors affecting resale value include mileage, condition (accident history, maintenance records), trim level (higher trims hold value better), and location (demand varies regionally). Models with low mileage and a clean vehicle history command higher prices. The presence of desirable features, such as the panoramic sunroof and advanced safety systems, also boosts resale value.

How Does the 2020 Hyundai Tucson Compare to Other Minivan?
Performance: The Tucson's engine performance is generally considered adequate but not class-leading compared to the CX-5 or RAV4's available hybrid options.
Features: Feature-wise, the Tucson offers a competitive suite of standard and available technology, similar to the Rogue and CR-V.
Reliability: Reliability is generally good, but the CR-V and RAV4 have historically demonstrated stronger reliability records.
Price: The Tucson is typically priced competitively, often offering a better value proposition than the CR-V or RAV4, especially when considering standard features.
Alternatives: If reliability is a top priority, the Toyota RAV4 or Honda CR-V are excellent choices, albeit potentially at a higher price. If sporty handling is desired, the Mazda CX-5 is a strong contender. If budget is a major concern, the Nissan Rogue offers a similar feature set at a potentially lower price point. The Kia Sportage, which shares many components with the Tucson, is another similar alternative to consider.

Biggest xxx Ever! This has been the WORST vehicle we have EVER purchased! Electrical issues CONSTANTLY! 3 times we took it back to Hyundai dealership with interior overhead lights not working. Last time, they said it had a short in it and they supposedly replaced the entire interior lights. By the time we got it home, no more lights AGAIN! Also, they keep replacing the fuse with a 25 Amp where a 10 Amp is supposed to go. Now, more electrical issues as it won't even start! My credit is going to crap, but I'm calling bank on Monday and telling them to come get this overpriced xxx out of my driveway! We will NEVER EVER buy another Hyundai or Kia! JUNK! Buy American!

Very Happy Recommend!Very happy with our purchase. We have about 60,000km on the vehicle now (Yes Canadian). I am very pleased with the quality, performance, and reliability of the vehicle. We've had the Tuscon in the extreme Canadian Winters -40c, (-40F). Unplugged, and it has started without issue. I remember we were nervous when we bought the vehicle with the GDI 2.0L motor originally, but it has been fantastic since new. I would highly recommend the Tuscon to a young or older couple it is truly the perfect family vehicle. Great price and great reliabililty.

I love this carThis smaller crossover suv is perfect for me. Really cool features and is very comfortable to drive. Smaller rear window, so visibility is slighter there, but the backup camera helps with that. Really perfect fit for me!
