The Good
The 2019 CX-9 excels in providing a sporty driving experience unusual for its class. It offers a comfortable and upscale interior, a sleek and stylish design, and decent fuel efficiency for an SUV. Emotionally, it's appealing to those who enjoy driving; practically, it provides ample space and family-friendly features at a competitive price.
The Bad
The 2019 CX-9's third-row seating can be cramped for adults, and cargo space behind the third row is limited. Some owners have reported infotainment system glitches. While generally reliable, keep an eye out for potential turbocharger issues and ensure regular oil changes to prevent problems. The smaller fuel tank can also be a minor inconvenience for long trips.

What Problems Does the 2019 Mazda CX-9 Have?
How long will the 2019 Mazda CX-9 last?
What Technology & Safety Features are Included?
Driver-assistance features include standard blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and low-speed automatic emergency braking. Higher trims offer adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, and smart city brake support with pedestrian detection.
Safety is a strong point. The 2019 CX-9 earned a five-star overall safety rating from the NHTSA and was named an IIHS Top Safety Pick+. These ratings reflect strong performance in crash tests, including front, side, and rollover evaluations. Optional features impacting safety include adaptive headlights that swivel in the direction of travel and a 360-degree view monitor which aids in parking and low-speed maneuvering. The infotainment system, while functional, has been criticized for its interface and occasional lag compared to competitors.

How Does the 2019 Mazda CX-9 Compare to Other Sport Utility Vehicle?
The Highlander offers a more spacious third row and a reputation for bulletproof reliability, making it a strong alternative for buyers prioritizing space and longevity. The Kia Telluride is a compelling option for its value, features, and stylish design, but long-term reliability data is still developing. The Ford Explorer offers more engine options and a higher towing capacity but sacrifices some interior refinement and driving dynamics. For those prioritizing driving enjoyment and a luxurious feel without sacrificing too much practicality, the CX-9 is an excellent choice. If space and ultimate reliability are paramount, the Highlander might be a better fit.

Nice carWe've had our 2019 Mazda CX-9 Signature model for over three years. It's a very nice, smooth riding automobile and it's surprisingly fun to drive. The turbo charged four cylinder engine has more than enough pep. The interior is comfortable and durable. Yes, we had to replace the cracked infotainment screen but all was covered with the additional protection plan we purchased when we bought the car. We wouldn't hesitate to buy another CX-9.

Mazda bad response for problemsNot sure I would recommend Mazda at this point. Bought the car used 2019 in 2023. All sorts of letters went to original owners to fix a spidering infotainment screen. From 2016-2018 ( mine was manufactured in 2018) I bought it, it was fine. 1 day with hot sun/ air conditioning I can not see my clock. I took it to a Mazda dealer and I have been waiting over a month for word from Mazda. Very upset at the response time and not caring from the dealer.

These donβt age gracefullyInfotainment / Dashboard screen cracks and very expensive to replace. Temperature gauge and A/C break and very expensive to repair. Waited several months for dealership in Lowell, MA to obtain part for repairs. Dealership canβt seem to properly diagnose and repair.

A luxury car without the luxury price tag. This car is a luxury car without the luxury price tag. A stylish mid-size SUV with surprisingly a lot of torque. It is very comfortable to drive, and enjoyed owning this vehicle twice.
