The Good
The 2017 Murano excels in comfort, offering a smooth ride and a well-appointed cabin appealing to those prioritizing relaxation. Its distinctive design makes an emotional statement, while its fuel efficiency and competitive pricing offer practical value. The V6 engine provides adequate power for daily driving. It delivers a good balance of luxury and practicality.
The Bad
Potential weaknesses of the 2017 Murano include the continuously variable transmission (CVT), which has had reported issues in some Nissan models. Some drivers find the handling less sporty compared to rivals. The infotainment system, while functional, can feel dated. Keep an eye on potential electronic glitches and ensure proper maintenance of the CVT.

What Problems Does the 2017 Nissan Murano Have?
Other potential issues can include electrical problems, such as malfunctioning sensors or infotainment system glitches. Some owners have reported issues with the climate control system. It's important to note that not all 2017 Muranos will experience these problems, but they are worth considering when evaluating a used model.
Check for any outstanding recalls on the vehicle by entering the VIN on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) website. Recalls can address safety-related defects that the manufacturer is obligated to fix free of charge.
Long-term reliability depends heavily on proper maintenance. Regular fluid changes (especially for the CVT) and timely repairs can help mitigate potential problems. Pre-purchase inspection by a qualified mechanic is highly recommended.

How Does the 2017 Nissan Murano Compare to Other Sport Utility Vehicle?
In terms of performance, the Murano's V6 engine is adequate but not class-leading. Feature-wise, it holds its own, especially in higher trims. However, reliability is a potential concern due to the CVT issues. Price-wise, it's generally competitive.
Alternatives to consider: If reliability is a top priority, the Toyota Venza or a Lexus RX (slightly pricier) would be better choices. For sportier handling, the Ford Edge is a good option. If value and warranty are key, the Hyundai Santa Fe or Kia Sorento are worth exploring. The Murano is a decent choice if you prioritize style and comfort and are aware of the potential CVT issues.

I just realized my mother has a cushion on the seat ofI just realized my mother has a cushion on the seat of her 2021 Murano and a back cushion. I was in shock, I had to drive her car around town today running errands and tonight my back hurts so she realized we’re getting backaches because the Murano’s driver seat is so poorly engineered.
Pearl white paint issue on January 9, 2024
All Nissan cars should be equally treated!I purchased my preowned 2017 Platinum Nissan Murano last year. It had about 25, 000 miles on it at the time. After putting on approximately 30,000 miles on it the paint (pearl white) started to peel off on three sections (left front, left rear, tailgate). I have no qualms about the performance of the car. I had the Harte Nissan dealership of Hartford, CT analyze the issue. They told me that the peeling of the paint was a factory error in mixing the primer and pearl white paint, however, since I purchased the car in 2023, the 3 year warranty had expired even though I purchased an additional extended premium care warranty that expires in 3/1/2028 or 102,276 miles for an extra $4000. Currently, I have 60,000 on it. Corporate Nissan told me the painting of the 3 sections would cost $8000 and that they would write out a check only to the Nissan dealership for $5000 and I would have to pay the remaining $3000. Plus there was no guarantee that the other panels would not peel as well. They only guaranteed the 3 parts they painted for life. I then looked up a class action suit where a court hearing occurred on December 19, 2019 and the proposed settlement was approved by the presiding court for owners of pearl white Nissan Rogues produced between January 11, 2013 and April 23, 2013. The court awarded on January 10, 2020 a pearl white delamination warranty extension dealer notification. Finally, why isn't the Nissan corporate world extending the warranty for Muranos as well?

Paint issueI have an issue with paint peeling on my 2017 Murano, pearl white. Nissin won't help me out with this issue, not happy after learning there were similar problems with other models. This car has less than 40,000 miles on it. Anyone else having this problem?

Love my newer Murano !!Bought a brand new 2020 Murano "S" on March 1,2021 for $26,499 as they wanted to clear the lot of the 2020 models and could not be happier!! I drive a 1993 Mazda 4x4 60 times a year to a ski resort as I do NOT want the Murano to be subjected to the liquid salt applied to the roads here in Idaho. The last day of the season the roads were dry and as I drove out of the crowd at the after ski party....a parent yelled "you drive THIS?" Has only 10,500 miles and is worth now over $32,000 as ALL used cars are usually more than what people paid for them new in the last 2 years.

Why is there no recall on the LiftgateI own a 2017 Nissan Murano SL. I’ve already had the liftgate repaired once (1 1/2 year ago) because it wouldn’t open. Luckily it was still under warranty. But now it’s not opening again, but I’m a little over 40,000mi now & was quoted $800. Why?? Seems like it’s going to need fixed every year. I have seen MANY people stating the same issues with your liftgates, so why is it not on recall & fixed properly?? To last??? I’m so annoyed!!!
