The Good
The 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan offered practical value with its spacious and versatile interior, particularly with the Stow 'n Go seating. What Problems Does the 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan Have?
Recalls for the 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan have addressed issues such as potential problems with the fuel tank assembly and airbag systems. It's essential to check the vehicle's VIN for any outstanding recalls to ensure safety. Long-term reliability can be a concern, particularly with higher mileage examples. The transmission, in particular, is a known weak point. Regular maintenance, including timely fluid changes, is crucial to extending the vehicle's lifespan. Some model years within the fourth generation (2001-2007) experienced more frequent reports of specific issues, so researching specific model year complaints is advisable.

What Technology & Safety Features are Included?
Safety features included standard front airbags, anti-lock brakes (ABS), and optional side-impact airbags. Electronic stability control was available on some trims. Crash-test ratings from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) varied depending on the specific test. It generally received good ratings for frontal crash protection but lower ratings for side-impact protection. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) may have rated it as well, so researching both NHTSA and IIHS ratings for the 2006 model year is recommended. Overall, its safety and technology features are dated compared to newer vehicles, so buyers should prioritize safety and consider that modern vans offer significantly more advanced features.

How Does the 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan Compare to Other Van?
Alternatives to consider include the Honda Odyssey and Toyota Sienna from similar model years, which offer better reliability and a more refined driving experience, though at a higher price point. The Chrysler Town & Country, essentially a more upscale version of the Grand Caravan, might be a similar alternative but could share similar reliability concerns. Ultimately, the Grand Caravan is a budget-friendly option, but buyers should prioritize reliability and be prepared for potential repairs. If budget allows, a Honda or Toyota is a generally a safer bet for long-term reliability.

Perfect Handicap VanIf you have a loved one in a wheelchair this is the perfect van for you. This was purchased for my mother. It was used only a few months. It has been checked out thoroughly and affordably priced compared to what's out there.

Great family vehicleLove the stow n go seating! Absolutely the most versatile seating arrangement I've ever seen. There is TONS of room in the back with both rows of seats down. The versatility of putting down just the back or side seats to have room to haul stuff and still have safe seating for a kid or two has been fantastic. I put 235,000 miles on the van and it has been a reliable ride for nearly all of those miles.

Most reliable car I have ownedGreat smooth ride , plenty of leg room, never a problem, would not even trade it in when purchasing another vehicle ,

This is currently our family vanThis minivan is currently our transporter. However, i do not think that this van is well built at all because the materials used inside it are very hard, everywhere (except under windshield), it drives very badly with only a 3.3 V6, the transmission shifts roughly, and the fuel economy of the van is atrocious. It can tow, somewhat, however and that is nice

My baby for 9yrsI've had my 06 caravan for 9yrs now and i have just hit my 100, 000 miles on it. Boy do i get scared something will go wrong. I just can't see myself parting with it. It has been so reliable throughout the years, smooth driving, the storage space is epic. I hope if and when the time comes the newer version is just as good.

Lots of repairs to be done.Went to look at this vehicle and liked it and knew right away it had problems. Took my husband who is a mechanic. The seller told me it was as is and it didn't say that in the ad. Seller also said the radio worked and it didn't. It also had the wrong battery in it. Already spent a lot of money on it and that's with a mechanics price. If it wasn't for the smooth drive and great gas mileage I would say it wasn't worth the price paid plus all the repairs that I'm still doing.

I drove a rust bucket! The car has a get up and go like a lazy teenager. I would advise you not to buy this car, especially when in rainy climates because this car rusts. The car drove like a bulky boat. Overall, this was not a good experience

It was a good buy for my purpose.Over all it is a very good van, I would just like to know why the bottom of all doors rust out. This process takes place from the inside of the doors. I purchased this vehicle as a vehicle to get my wife in and out of as she had a stroke, it had 99,974 on it , and it still runs very good. Did a little front end work on it. By the way, this is a STOW AND GO.
