The Good
The 2019 Grand Caravan excels in value and practicality. Performance is adequate for daily driving, and the comfortable ride appeals to families. While design is dated, Stow 'n Go seating is a huge advantage. Though fuel efficiency isn't class-leading, the overall affordability makes it a compelling choice for budget-conscious buyers seeking reliable transportation and space for family adventures.
The Bad
The 2019 Grand Caravan's weaknesses include its outdated design and interior. Fuel economy is subpar compared to newer minivans. Reliability can be a concern, with some owners reporting issues with the electrical system and transmission. The safety ratings are also not as high as some competitors, and the technology is not as advanced. Watch out for rust, especially in colder climates.

Analysis
What Problems Does the 2019 Dodge Grand Caravan Have?
Recalls for the 2019 model have included concerns about the potential for the power sliding doors to open unexpectedly while driving, increasing the risk of injury. It's crucial to check the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) website for the most up-to-date recall information. Long-term reliability concerns often center on the longevity of the transmission and the potential for electrical gremlins to surface over time. While the Pentastar V6 engine is generally considered reliable, proper maintenance is essential to prevent issues. Earlier model years of the Grand Caravan (prior to 2011) had their own distinct set of common problems, but the 2019 model shares more similarities in potential issues with the 2011-2018 range, mainly centering on electrical and transmission durability. Regular servicing and addressing minor issues promptly can help mitigate some of these long-term concerns.

What Technology & Safety Features are Included?
Safety features include standard airbags, electronic stability control, and anti-lock brakes. Optional features included ParkSense rear park assist system.
Crash-test ratings from the IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) and NHTSA are crucial to consider. While specific ratings can vary, the Grand Caravan generally received acceptable but not outstanding scores. It's worth noting that its structural design is older, which impacts its performance in newer crash tests. Before purchasing, potential buyers should check the latest safety ratings from both IIHS and NHTSA to ensure it meets their safety requirements.

How Does the 2019 Dodge Grand Caravan Compare to Other Minivan?
Alternatives to consider include: The Chrysler Pacifica offers more modern features and a smoother ride. The Honda Odyssey provides superior reliability and a more engaging driving experience. The Toyota Sienna boasts excellent reliability and available all-wheel drive. If budget is the primary concern, the Grand Caravan remains a viable option. However, for those prioritizing features, reliability, and overall refinement, the Pacifica, Odyssey, or Sienna are generally better choices, albeit at a higher price point. The Kia Sedona (now Carnival) is another solid, often overlooked, competitor.

I would not recommend this vehicle to anyone.I would not recommend this vehicle to anyone. It has been an amazing family van and it holds a lot. But I've owned this vehicle for 5 years and I have put in two transmissions in it.

2019 Dodge Grand CaravanThe dealer doesn't tell you. The 2019 Grand Caravan does not come with a spare tire, a jack, or a lug wrench. You find that out when you're sitting on the side of the road with a flat tire.

Good Family HaulerPurchased 2019 Crew Plus with 30k in July 2020. So far only complaint is the clunky UConnect system. Having owned 1988, 1995, 2000, and 2005 model years we have always found Caravans to be sensible, reliable, all round family centric vehicles. Could spend an extra $10k or more for a comparable Odyssey (Primary cars/bikes are Honda's) or Sienna but personally do not seethe long term benefit. As with all vehicles maintenance is key.
My best van for all my summer and winter journey on May 15, 2021
The best value van better than my old Chrysler vanI never thought Dodge built the best van of the century ! It was the most convenient in style and capacity I have even seen the only thing missing is the cruise control ! So far it's my best caravan it's sophisticated at first cause I am old school from a dinosaur technological disadvantage era but as times goes on owning it for three weeks it gives me and my dog a haven to transportation for all our summer journey together! I love it better than my old Chrysler minivan!

A good vehicle for the costOnly having the vehicle for a few weeks, I can see this will meet my needs. It drives and handles nicely, and has the ability to carry passengers and cargo depending on the occasion. Predominately it will be a cargo carrier for training supplies, so with the 'Stow-n-Go" seating I have plenty of room to haul my training supplies. For a 6 cylinder, it is also getting very good gas mileage (this is very helpful too)!

Best all around useful auto.Best vehicle for transporting large items, they closed up inside the van. All seats go down for optimum hauling. Rides good and lots of nice amenities
