Analysis
What Problems Does the 2017 Honda Odyssey Have?
Other common complaints include problems with the power sliding doors, which can be expensive to repair. Issues with the infotainment system, such as freezing or glitching, have also been reported. The HondaVac system, while convenient, is also prone to malfunction.
Recalls for the 2017 Odyssey have addressed issues such as potential fuel leaks due to faulty fuel pump modules, which could increase the risk of a fire. Check the NHTSA website for the most up-to-date recall information.
Long-term reliability concerns primarily focus on the transmission and engine. Regular maintenance, including timely fluid changes, is crucial to mitigate these issues. It's advisable to have a pre-purchase inspection performed by a trusted mechanic to identify any potential problems before buying a used 2017 Odyssey.
How long will the 2017 Honda Odyssey last?
Weaknesses over time tend to be related to the transmission, engine (oil consumption), and power sliding doors. Electrical components can also be a source of problems as the vehicle ages. Addressing these issues promptly can significantly extend the vehicle's lifespan.
What Technology & Safety Features are Included?
Entertainment features include an available rear-seat entertainment system with a large screen and HDMI input. The HondaVac, integrated vacuum cleaner, is a unique and popular feature.
Driver-assistance features like adaptive cruise control and lane departure warning were not standard on all trims in 2017.
Safety features include anti-lock brakes, stability control, front-side airbags, and side-curtain airbags.
The 2017 Honda Odyssey received excellent crash-test ratings from the IIHS and NHTSA. The IIHS awarded it a "Top Safety Pick" designation. NHTSA gave it a 5-star overall safety rating. 2017 Honda Odyssey Prices and Market Value
Depreciation is typical for a minivan, but the Odyssey holds its value relatively well compared to some competitors due to its reputation for reliability. Factors affecting resale value include mileage, condition, service history, and geographic location. Lower mileage and a well-documented maintenance record will command higher prices. The Elite trim typically retains the most value.
2017 Honda Odyssey Cost of Ownership
Overall, the Odyssey is neither exceptionally economical nor overly costly to own. Its strong reliability helps to mitigate long-term repair expenses. Budgeting for potential transmission issues is advisable.

Alternatives to consider: If reliability is paramount, a Toyota Sienna of a similar year could be a better choice, albeit potentially more expensive. Final Verdict: Is the 2017 Honda Odyssey a Good Sport Utility Vehicle?
The EX-L trim often offers a good balance of features and value. Be aware of potential transmission issues, oil consumption, and power sliding door problems. If possible, opt for a later production model year within the 2017 generation, as Honda may have addressed some of the early production issues. A thoroughly inspected and well-maintained 2017 Odyssey can be a dependable and comfortable family vehicle for years to come.

Great features! Comfortable. Easy to drive. This car meets all of my family's needs. It has tons of space, great audio, and it's really comfortable. The adjustable lumbar support is awesome! There's plenty of storage, lots of cup holders and charging ports throughout. The stow-and-go rear seats are great, and I love that it has the option to seat 8. Bluetooth works great - people can actually hear me through the car, yay! So far, I can only say great things about this vehicle. We use it for picnics, travel, and camping out.

Second Odyssey I've owned—love it!I've owned a Van since 1992 and have Had good performance and good luck with them. After borrowing my sons Honda Odyssey a few years back I am mediately switched and purchased one and now I have purchased my second one. They are absolutely worth a little extra money!

Love this fanI absolutely love this van and I have very few complaints but I would say the most major issues I had and I probably should have realized it before buying it but I was in a bit of a pickle second row seating they do not go flat and when I mean flat I mean the back of the seat to the bottom of the seat who would've ever thought of designing it without that being a priority??? most people use that to sit on while putting children in a car seat or cleaning the third row etc. 2nd complaint is how loud The blowing system is for heat or AC my 3 major complaint is what's the point of having a car starter when you come out to your car and your car isn't warm because it doesn't actually blow heat or in the summer don't blow AC regardless what you have it set on when you leave your vehicle unless you physically go out and start it yourself then the car starter is pointless 😒 the minor ones are no CD player and yes I do a lot with my phone but I still had a favorite CD that my grandchildren adored @ could no longer use😒 But as per to designing things I realize there will be flaws or can't please everybody but I do believe the seats and the electric start or some pretty huge things that may or should be addressed in the next re-designed but I would definitely re-purchase another Honda Odyssey

Practical LuxuryDrove a Chevy Silverado for years. I decided I did not need a truck any longer but did not want to give up the utility aspect of a truck. The Honda Odyssey checks all the boxes. Just a great utility vehicle when you need it. Excellent vehicle for long or short trips. Unbelievable fuel economy. Very comfortable as well. Low maintenance. Very, very reliable. You get a lot of vehicle for your money.

Entertainment is not user friendlyThis car is not too bad, but the main complaint is the entertainment system. 1. There are 3 screens in the front panel. It confused user which screen that the user needs to take a look when trying to set something up and playing something. 2. There is no enter or ok button on the steering wheel. The driver must click on the entertainment panel. 3. Cannot make the Bluetooth as the main source while playing video. ( when we drive and using the cell GPS, while the kids watching a movie, we cannot get the direction voice from the GPS.). It makes you no way to connect your phone to the system. 4. When the DVD player is on but not play, you cannot get any sound from other sources. Therefore you need to turn the DVD off first. Another thing that the passenger door handle make noise when you try to use it. It is not like the driver's door.
