The 2007 Mercedes-Benz E-Class is part of the W211 generation, known for its blend of luxury and performance. Available as a sedan and wagon, the model years for this generation ran from 2003-2009. Key trims include the E320/E350 (gasoline), E320 CDI (diesel), E55 AMG and E63 AMG. At the time of release, the price ranged roughly from $48,000 - $87,000 depending on the trim and options. The E-Class stands out due to its reputation for a comfortable ride, elegant design, and advanced technology for its time.

The 2007 E-Class offers a compelling mix of attributes. Practically, it delivers a comfortable ride, solid performance, and relatively good fuel economy for a luxury vehicle. Emotionally, it provides the prestige of the Mercedes-Benz brand, a sophisticated design, and a luxurious interior. What Problems Does the 2007 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Have?

The 2007 Mercedes-Benz E-Class, while generally reliable, does have some frequently reported problems. Electrical issues are common, including malfunctioning sensors, problems with the COMAND system (navigation/audio), and issues with the electronic stability program (ESP). Air suspension, particularly on the E550 and wagons, is prone to failure, leading to costly repairs. Oil leaks, especially around the valve covers and oil cooler, are another common concern.

Recalls for the 2007 E-Class have included issues with the fuel filter flange, which could lead to fuel leaks, and problems with the sunroof. Long-term reliability concerns often revolve around the complexity of the car's electronics and the potential for expensive repairs as components age. Rust can be a problem in areas with harsh winters and road salt usage. Models with higher mileage may experience issues with the transmission, requiring costly rebuilds or replacements. Owners should pay close attention to maintenance records and consider a pre-purchase inspection by a qualified mechanic specializing in Mercedes-Benz vehicles to identify any potential problems before buying.

How long will the 2007 Mercedes-Benz E-Class last?

A well-maintained 2007 Mercedes-Benz E-Class can easily reach 200,000 miles or more. With proper maintenance, including regular oil changes, fluid checks, and timely repairs, many owners report 15-20 years of service. However, long-term durability is highly dependent on maintenance habits. Neglecting scheduled maintenance, especially fluid changes and addressing minor issues promptly, will significantly shorten its lifespan. Weaknesses over time often include suspension component wear (bushings, ball joints), increased likelihood of electrical issues, and potential for corrosion, particularly in northern climates.

What Technology & Safety Features are Included?

The 2007 Mercedes-Benz E-Class offered a range of advanced tech, entertainment, and safety features for its time. Standard features included a COMAND system with a central display, CD player, and Bluetooth connectivity. Optional features included navigation, a Harman Kardon premium sound system, and a rear-seat entertainment system.

Driver-assistance features included cruise control, rain-sensing wipers, and automatic headlights. Optional features included Parktronic parking sensors.

Safety features were comprehensive, including anti-lock brakes (ABS), electronic stability program (ESP), traction control, and multiple airbags (front, side, and curtain). Optional safety features included Bi-Xenon headlights with active curve illumination.

Crash-test ratings from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) generally showed good performance for the 2007 E-Class, with good ratings in frontal offset and side-impact tests. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) also awarded it high marks in its crash tests. These ratings helped solidify the E-Class's reputation as a safe and reliable vehicle.

2007 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Prices and Market Value

When new, the 2007 Mercedes-Benz E-Class ranged from approximately $48,000 for the base E350 to upwards of $87,000 for the E63 AMG. Currently, used market prices vary widely depending on mileage, condition, and trim level. Expect to find them ranging from $5,000 to $15,000, though exceptionally clean or low-mileage examples might command a higher price. Depreciation has been significant, as is typical for luxury vehicles. Factors affecting resale value include maintenance history, overall condition, mileage, and the presence of desirable options.

2007 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Cost of Ownership

The 2007 Mercedes-Benz E-Class is generally considered costly to own. Insurance premiums are higher than average due to the car's luxury status and potential repair costs. Fuel costs vary depending on the engine, with the diesel offering better economy. Maintenance, especially at a Mercedes-Benz dealership or specialist, can be expensive. Repairs, particularly for electrical or air suspension issues, can quickly add up. Long-term ownership requires a budget for potential unexpected repairs.

reasonable repair costs.

How Does the 2007 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Compare to Other Sedan?

The 2007 Mercedes-Benz E-Class competed against the BMW 5 Series, Audi A6, Lexus GS, and Acura TL. In terms of performance, the E-Class offered a broad range of engine options, rivaling the 5 Series, although the BMW might have been considered sportier to drive. Features were generally comparable across the segment, with the E-Class holding its own in terms of technology and luxury appointments.

Reliability is where the E-Class sometimes lagged behind the Lexus GS and Acura TL, which were known for their dependability. The Audi A6 also had its share of reliability concerns. Price-wise, the E-Class was positioned similarly to its German rivals, but more expensive than the Acura TL.

Alternatives to the 2007 E-Class include the Lexus GS for superior reliability, the BMW 5 Series for a sportier driving experience, and the Acura TL for a more affordable and reliable luxury sedan. If reliability is a top priority, the Lexus GS is a better choice. If driving enjoyment is paramount, the BMW 5 Series might be preferred. If you're on a tighter budget, the Acura TL presents a compelling alternative.

Final Verdict: Is the 2007 Mercedes-Benz E-Class a Good Sedan?

The 2007 Mercedes-Benz E-Class is ideal for buyers seeking a blend of luxury, comfort, and performance in a mid-size sedan or wagon. It's worth buying if you appreciate the Mercedes-Benz brand, are prepared for potentially higher maintenance costs, and prioritize a comfortable ride. Buying a used 2007 E-Class can be a good value, but a thorough pre-purchase inspection is essential. Opting for a well-maintained E350 or E320 CDI might be a more sensible choice than the higher-performance AMG models due to lower running costs. Ensure the car has a complete service history and that all known issues have been addressed.

The car is great but required a few fixes to get it right. Powerful V8, incredible Harmon Cardon sound system. Looks like a family car, drives like a sports car

DISAPPOINTED on December 28, 2019

MOST UNRELIABLE CAR I'VE EVER OWNED.

AFTER PURCHASING THIS ONE OWNER C230 SPORTS SEDAN IN 2016 IT HAS BEEN ONE THING AFTER THE OTHER TO KEEP IT ROAD WORTHY. I HAD A CAR FAX AND MAINTENCE RECORDS INDICATING THE PRESCRIBED A & B SERVICES HAD BEEN DONE. IT HAD 70,000 MILES ON IT BUT FOR GOSH SAKES IT'S A MERCEDES AND SHOULD BE DEPENDABLE RIGHT ?. WELL I TOOK IT TO MY LOCAL DEALER AND HAD IT INSPECTED. THE RESULTS WERE I NEEDED NEW BRAKES (OK), NEED A NEW MANIFOLD, CAMS, PLUGS, STRUTS, THRUST ARM BUSHINGS AND OTHER ITEMS FOR A TOTAL OF OVER $ 6,000.00. I HAVE SINCE REPLACED THE BATTERY, ALTERNATOR, STARTER, SINGLE CD WON'T PLAY, SHIFT KNOB PEALED, RADIO/CD FACE PEALED OFF, POWER WINDOW BUTTONS BROKE AND ANOTHER SET OF BRAKES (FRONT). TWO DAYS AGO MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I WENT TO THE DEALER AND ASK THEM TO CHECK IT OUT. I HAVE BEEN INFORMED THAT I NOW NEED TO REPLACE THE MOTOR AND TRANSMISSION MOUNTS, CAM MAGNETS, CAM PLUGS, THRUST ARM BUSHINGS, STRUTS, VACUUM PUMP AND CENTRIFUGE AND REPAIR NUMEROUS OIL LEAKS. IT WILL COST ME APPROXIMATELY $5,000.00 FOR THESE REPAIRS. THIS CAR HAS ONLY 92,000 MILES ON IT AND SINCE I HAVE HAD IT HAS BEEN DRIVEN ELCLUSIVE FOR ROAD TRIPS NOT AN EVERYDAY DRIVER. I LOVE DRIVING THE CAR AND GET GOOD MPG 28-29 V6. FACT IS THAT BY THE TIME I HAVE IT REPAIRED I WILL HAVE MORE INVESTED IN REPAIRS THAN WHAT I PAID FOR IT OR WHAT IT'S WORTH. I AM AWARE THAT MAINTENCE IS REQUIRED BY ANY VEHICLE BUT I HAVE NEVER (AND I'VE OWNED QUITE A FEW VEHICLES IN 50 + YRS,) HAD AS MANY ISSUES AS I'VE HAD WITH THIS MERCEDES. I WILL NEVER HAVE ANOTHER AND WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND ONE.

Incredible car for the dollar

After owning several Lexus and Infiniti cars from GS to the G’s I decided to come back to Mercedes Benz again after previously owning a W210 E420 in the past I decided to hunt for an E550 which I got a good deal from 2nd owner that bought it off CPO after exhaustively researching the quirks and issues the W211 had which thankfully the facelift 2007-2009 fixed many of quality control issues that plagued the earlier W211, I also considered strongly the E55 and E63 but then realized you will have to fork more for insurance, maintenance. The E550 gave me a good balance of performance and practicality frankly it keeps up with 90% of the cars out on the street today, interior and overall fit still looks great. The expensive stuff you really have to watch out for is the airmatic suspension thankfully there plenty of options out there and inner tire wear on rears which could mean overhaul suspension work needed but again plenty of OE and OEM support for the W211 chassis. Also if your getting a 07 W211 E550 double check serial number for M273 motor as it may have a idle gear issue. Other than just make sure oil changes and good tires, fuel, transmission oil is always done.

Excellent 2007 MB E-550 .... one owner flawless

Excellent vehicle that exceeds all my needs..... for every 20 E-350 you will only see one E-550......... this vehicle is a beast......I’ve been searching for a one owner 2007 MB E-550 with less than 70k...... I was looking at a dealership when the elderly couple wanted to trade it in for a Ford F-150 truck...... I told them whatever the dealership offered I would pay $200 more .... providing the service records are verifiable with MB..... spare tire never been on ground.... car never driven in rain ........did the MB inspection and it came out great no issues
