The Good
The 2019 Passat offers a comfortable and spacious cabin, appealing to practical buyers. Its smooth ride and ample legroom enhance passenger enjoyment. While not a sports car, the Passat provides adequate performance for daily driving. It also offers decent fuel efficiency for its class. What Problems Does the 2019 Volkswagen Passat Have?
Recalls for the 2019 Passat have been issued for issues like potential fuel leaks due to improperly manufactured fuel rails and problems with the brake assist system. It's important to check the vehicle's VIN with the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) to ensure all applicable recalls have been addressed.
Long-term reliability concerns often revolve around the long-term durability of the automatic transmission. Regular transmission fluid changes are essential for preventing potential issues. Some owners have also reported issues with the sunroof mechanism. While the 2019 model year doesn't exhibit significantly different issues compared to other years in the generation, consistent maintenance and addressing minor issues promptly can help mitigate long-term reliability risks. Prior to purchase, a thorough inspection by a qualified mechanic is always recommended.

How Does the 2019 Volkswagen Passat Compare to Other Sedan?
In terms of features, the Passat offers a competitive set, but some rivals offer more advanced technology. Reliability is generally good, though the Camry and Accord have a slight edge in reputation. Price-wise, the Passat is generally competitive, often offering a good value proposition.
Alternatives to consider include the Toyota Camry for its reliability and resale value, the Honda Accord for its well-rounded performance and features, and the Mazda 6 for its sporty handling. The Hyundai Sonata offers a compelling value with a long warranty. If spaciousness is a priority, the Passat remains a strong contender, but for overall performance and features, the Camry or Accord might be better choices. For a sportier drive, the Mazda 6 is preferable.

Very satisfied after driving for nearly three yearI have had this car from new. Leased new for 39 months. Will definitely purchase the car. There is really nothing negative about this car. Roomy, loaded with features, comfortable ride. Economical to drive. Great paint and fit and finish. When I leased this car, Imdrove a lot of different brands. Honda, Toyota, Hyundai, Mazda, Ford. No comparison to Passat.

This is a great car. This is probably the best car that I have ever owned. Many, many years ago my first car was a '68 Beetle and now I am back in a VW. Very happy with my choice.

Perfect family sedanThis past fall I lunched active search to replace my 2006 Accord. I have been Honda/Acura owner for past 20yrs but new Honda sedan lineup is out of my league (not by price, but by style and low sitting position). As being 6'3Γ’β¬Β I needed a car where I donβt have to slide seat forward to accommodate person behind me. I rented Passat Wolfsburg edition while on the work trip and I had it for 7 days to test drive, I found it comfortable, nice to drive, quiet. When I was back and purchased mine, whenever is time for longer trip, kids always pick Passat over my wife's loaded MDX. 2020 model out with more front overhang (personally dislike it) but my 2019 came with only 450 miles so called used/new, much lower price and it is more fun to drive with better warranty. I will keep this one for a while.

Born to be freeThis car is okay just getting back use to driving a car but i think this it is a great car. My kids are in love with the car. I like the seat warmers, backup cam, still looking to see help the vehicle works but all is good.

2019 Passat R-Line - Remote Start DefectiveWe leased a 2018 VW Atlas R-line and loved it and so we thought we would buy a 2019 VW Passat R-Line. I paid $24,000 out the door and was very happy with the feature set, comfort, and overall value. It was meant to be a well equipped "run around car" - BUT - I WOULD NOT recommend a VW Passat now and I am telling all who will listen to avoid a used 2019 R-Line. Why? Like the other reviewer stated, the remote start stopped working on the 3 day and VW does not have a fix for it. I bought the car on April 2 of 2019, and today is 2/1/2020 - STILL NO FIX. I get a nice email every two weeks saying that "A software fix is on the horizon, but there is no specific ETA" - which means there will never be a fix. They did give me a $200 gift for my troubles, but ironically, it did not work either. It might be because it has the VW logo on it? Other than that, the car has been great. Oh, VW had to replace the multimedia display because the navigation was not working, but it was covered by the warranty. The Fender sound system is awesome. You can turn it up as loud as your ears can handle and it sounds great with all types of music. It has 8 speakers in the cab and truck mounted subwoofer. Nothing raddles in this car even when the sound system is turned up. For a car in this price range, the seats are very comfortable and they are heated. There is plenty of room even for tall folks. I am 74 inches but a 6' 5" person can easily fit. It has plenty of technology including Apple CarPlay which is great, also loaded with safety features. Oh, did I mention the remote start does not work and there is no fix for it? π
