How Does the 2007 Volkswagen Passat Compare to Other Passenger Sedan?
However, the Passat falls short in reliability compared to the Camry and Accord, which are known for their long-term dependability. The Altima and Fusion offer a more balanced combination of reliability and affordability. In terms of price, the Passat was typically positioned slightly higher than some of its domestic rivals but lower than some premium imports.
Alternatives to consider would be the Toyota Camry or Honda Accord for superior reliability and lower long-term costs. The Ford Fusion provides a good balance of features, reliability, and price. If you value performance and are willing to accept the potential for higher maintenance costs, the Passat might be appealing, but for most buyers, the Camry or Accord would be a more practical choice.

Great CarThis car has so far met my needs and it performs well on the road under all conditions. Very peppy economical 4cyl. engine. Super comfortable interior. Very happy with this newly purchased car.

Runs well but weak exterior designMet my needs, just has weak exterior. I like the engine and that it is reliable. It has been fun to drive with it being a manual.

Love hate relationshipI loved to drive this car. The V6 engine was super strong and the handling was great. But it ate tires and broke down all the time, and every repair was very expensive.

Became too expensive to maintain.I bought this car with 60K coming off a lease in 2009. Based on the two Volkswagens I'd owned in the past, I fully expected to drive this car on economical terms to at least 200K. But I traded it at 167,000, spending too much on every repair it needed--and it needed more every year. I was also unhappy with the service department at my local dealership. They were unfailingly courteous, but not good at diagnosing problems early when they were small, even though I was asking about the symptoms. The car was loaded with creature comforts and rode beautifully, but I sleep better now that I don't have to worry about it any more.

Totally reliable carI have had this car now for 12 years. It is comfortable, reliable, as in all these years I have had one break-down. I do not foresee to have to buy a new one.

Great for Style, Size and ComfortThis car has met all of my needs. My only complaint is the manual seat adjustment. Size is perfect for getting around with my two grandsons and accommodates their car seats with room to spare.
