The Good
The 2011 Volvo XC70 offers a comfortable ride, a spacious and well-designed interior, and Volvo's renowned safety features. Practically, it's reliable and versatile. Emotionally, it offers a sense of security and Scandinavian style. The T6 provides a boost in performance that some drivers will find more engaging. It presents good value for those seeking a practical and safe vehicle.
The Bad
Potential weaknesses of the 2011 Volvo XC70 include higher maintenance costs compared to some rivals, particularly regarding European parts. The infotainment system can feel dated. Watch for potential issues with the electronically controlled parking brake, and ensure the all-wheel-drive system (if equipped) is functioning correctly. Check service records for regular maintenance.

2011 Volvo XC70 Prices and Market Value
Depreciation is significant, as with most vehicles. Factors affecting resale value include mileage, condition (especially rust), maintenance history, and geographic location. Models with the T6 engine and desirable options (like navigation and BLIS) tend to command higher prices. Well-maintained examples with complete service records hold their value better.

How Does the 2011 Volvo XC70 Compare to Other Xc90?
In terms of features, the XC70 provides a solid set of standard and optional equipment, focusing on safety and comfort. Reliability is generally good, but repair costs can be higher than the Outback. Price-wise, the XC70 typically falls between the Outback and the Allroad/BMW.
Alternatives to consider: If off-road capability is a priority and budget is a concern, the Subaru Outback is a good choice. If luxury and performance are paramount, the Audi Allroad or BMW 3 Series wagon are worth considering, but be prepared for higher ownership costs. The Acura TSX Sport Wagon (if found) is another good alternative offering a good mix of reliability, features and value. Each has trade offs against the XC70 that owners should consider.

Another great Volvo wagon design!Great design with the Cross Country XC70 all wheel drive. We have owned many Volvo wagons for many years. We did compare to the Subaru Outback, which is an excellent all wheel drive wagon, but found the Volvo fit and finish and overall ergonomics to be superior.

Perfect for small familyAmazing driving vehicle with just the right amount of room and comfort for a small family. Interior is beautiful and the motors last forever. I highly recommend this vehicle for the everyday cruiser.

Great for all occasionsI've had mine for a couple of years now and I find it to be a very comfortable and reliable vehicle. The seats are extremely comfortable and though I have the non turbo it seems to be plenty of power. I imagine the turbo is extremely quick. It's hard to find something to complain about. If I had to I would say that I wish it had a temperature gauge and I personally don't like electronic emergency brakes. Volvo batteries are also extremely expensive ($300+) and you need to replace the battery more often than other cars I've owned. It's the only vehicle I've ever owned that I could fit an upright bass behind the seat. I've always had to put it between the seats because it was too long. My bandmates are jealous of all the room I have with performance and comfort. With good Nokian snow tires it's better in the snow than Jeeps I've owned in the past and I'm in Colorado so that says something.

266,000 miles and still going strongim second owner of this car, my father was first owner since new, i wouldn't say he beat on it but he didn't treat it like it was fragile or made of glass. he left it outside all year, drove it over potholes, sides of the road, been in 3 decent crashes with it, slid it around off road taking a few wrong turns and never given up or complained to him. i now picked up ownership and owned it for a few weeks and few thousand miles on my own and here is my fair review: design/styling: this is more function over form here, the plastic cladding maybe unattractive but its designed to protect the car more from rocks and debris for example. the shape of the car and styling have very modest touch to it but again mostly for function.. as i told people who made fun of how boring my car looks that its not designed to look good its designed to work anytime and where. handling as some people mentioned is closer to a truck than it is to a car, fairly direct while also somehow a bit vague? hard to discribe other then kinda like a truck with handling. its not gong to work great as a track car but as a run about car for around town on highway and some easier backtrails its great. comfort is amazing, volvo knows how to make seat and good sound deadening and with all extra weight in this wagon it irons out a lot of that "at speed" road imperfections with minimal cabin intrusion. automatic climate control and heated seats are great, set it and forget it all year around. sound system is pretty good, just above average but not going to beat the best of the best. drivetrain performance, admittingly i only have the 3.2L trim with FWD: if i had to sum it up in 1 word i would say....confusing.. let me explain bst i can.. sometimes i can get this car up to speed and surprise even sports cars with its capability at overtaking in pretty short order in rush to beat them threw merge lane but then other times where just...nothing and feels super gutless. this i partially will blame on transmission programming as the transmission was programmed in a very dimwitted 1 dimensional fashion but definitely not entirely the fault of transmissions as sometimes i uses the slap shifter and put it down a gear or even 2 and the engine isnt ready to give me all 6 and half grand out of her.. reliability: amazing for us, as i mentioned me nor first owner were gentle on this thing but also haven't beaten on it too badly... few parts been replaced but mostly original and im happy.. up to 266,000 miles, this was originally purchased because of reliability of volvo wagons. swedish quirks: well i wanna say plenty of them but tbh, i dont think there are many quirks here just a lot of sensibility..so does lack a bit of that personality flair some cars get from having quirks, but i'm not going to knock it for that because it does have a personality, a very quiet, restrained determined personality..

Great Safe Car - exactly what a Volvo should beThis car was a great third car for our nanny, who used it to transport our kids around town and for the occasional road trip. It was reliable, even stylish, and we always felt great that our kids were in a safe car.

I don?t understand the engineering in this car.I was a little excited to drive this car since I knew that Volvo has a reputation of being very strong and safe since very long years. The seats looked good to me, but I can confidently say that it was the only think I liked inside the car. The tachometer was very old school, the central console looks very simple and basic, and the gearbox is designed in way that the plastic on top makes it look like a toy. The exterior design is not bad, the curvy lights and the shape of the car looks attractive, the reason why I went for a test drive. When it comes to driving I?m not sure if the car had a mechanical issue but it felt like driving a heavy duty truck since it was accelerating very slowly that you feel like you?re towing a boat. I need to add that I didn?t feel very safe while taking curves, driving only at a speed of 45-50 MPH since the car felt like it was barely touching the ground and could rollover at any moment. It probably because the back is very high compared to the front of the car and the tires are a little too small for this car.

Comfort....Purchased this car for my wife. It has more than exceeded mine as well as her expectations. Car is comfortable, looks great and accelerates smoothly..The 300+hp turbo is great for passing as well... I feel very safe in this car... and look good doing it...

Volvo VibesBeautiful looking wagon style vehicle. Extremely powerful acceleration with the Turbo 6 300+ hp and totally smooth 6 speed transmission. Easy to drive, great visibility and the safest vehicle in its class. This car is way under-priced for what you get.
