The Good
The 2013 Jeep Patriot's advantages include its iconic Jeep design and available four-wheel drive for off-road capability, appealing to those seeking adventure. Practically, it offers a lower price point than many competitors, making it attractive to budget-conscious buyers. Its compact size is beneficial for city driving.
The Bad
Known weaknesses of the 2013 Jeep Patriot include its somewhat underpowered base engine and potentially unrefined continuously variable transmission (CVT). Interior materials can feel cheap, and noise levels can be high. Watch out for potential rust issues, especially in areas with road salt.

What Problems Does the 2013 Jeep Patriot Have?
Recalls for the 2013 Patriot have addressed issues such as potential fuel leakage, which could increase the risk of a fire. It's crucial to check the vehicle's recall history with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Long-term reliability concerns center around the CVT's durability, especially if not properly maintained (fluid changes are vital). Rust can also be a problem, particularly in colder climates with road salt. Regular inspections are recommended. Some owners have reported issues with the Totally Integrated Power Module (TIPM), which can cause various electrical malfunctions.

What Technology & Safety Features are Included?
Driver-assistance features were limited. Anti-lock brakes (ABS) and electronic stability control were standard. Optional features included side-curtain airbags and electronic roll mitigation. There were no advanced driver-assistance systems like automatic emergency braking or lane departure warning available.
In terms of safety, the 2013 Jeep Patriot received mixed crash-test ratings from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). NHTSA gave it four out of five stars overall, while IIHS rated it "Marginal" in the small overlap front crash test. The availability of side airbags improved side-impact protection. The structural design of the Patriot dates back some time and doesn't feature some of the newer safety innovations that are prevalent in newer vehicles.

How Does the 2013 Jeep Patriot Compare to Other Vehicle?
Alternatives to the 2013 Jeep Patriot include the Mazda CX-5, which offers superior handling and fuel economy, or the Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4, known for their reliability and practicality. The Subaru Forester provides better standard all-wheel drive and safety features. If budget is the primary concern, a used Hyundai Tucson or Kia Sportage might offer similar value with potentially better reliability than a Patriot equipped with the CVT. These offer more modern features and better overall driving experience.

Final Verdict: Is the 2013 Jeep Patriot a Good Vehicle?

I actually love it!I actually love it! I bought it second hand and it runs really well. The car is well isolated, the AC works great. It is very comfy and the gas is not running low as fast as I was expecting to (based on online reviews). So, I am actually positively surprised. It looks great with a retro flair, provides good visibility which speaks for a good design. All in all, for the current price market is a good deal. A straightforward and simple car that works great.

Officially A Jeep QueenThis car met all of my needs and more. I love that it is AWD, which is super convenient in the winter. It has heated seats, which is a deal-breaker for me, and it is equipped with Bluetooth phone capability. On top of that, it has Sirus XM Radio, which I was given a free trial even buying pre-owned. The exterior styling is excellent, comes in multiple colors, I have a dark slate gray with a shiny finish, and it is super roomy. The mileage on it isn't the best, but if you need a reliable car to get you around through any weather. The Jeep Patriot is it.

Like my JeepLove my Jeep, takes a minute to pick up speed when taking off, and no backup assistance. But nice make and love the sunroof and look of it. My kids also love it.

Overall Great CarThe car is all around pretty fantastic - the only issue I ever really had with it was that it was a bit slow to accelerate onto the freeway and up hills. Overall though I have been really happy with it, it's comfortable and handles really well in all kinds of weather.
