The Good
The 2017 Altima offers a comfortable and quiet ride, appealing to those seeking a relaxed commute. Its fuel efficiency is a practical advantage, saving money at the pump. The sleek design and available sporty SR trim add a touch of emotional appeal. Furthermore, Nissan's reputation for reliability delivers peace of mind, while the Altima's competitive price makes it a great value.
The Bad
The 2017 Altima's handling isn't as sporty as some rivals, and the continuously variable transmission (CVT) can feel uninspired to some drivers. Some owners have reported issues with the CVT, so careful inspection and maintenance records are crucial. The interior materials, while comfortable, may not feel as premium as competitors.

Never has so much been promised, with so littleNever has so much been promised, with so little delivered. I’ve replaced the transmission, the starter, the “motherboard†and umpteen other things on this vehicle. I will never buy another Nissan.

Horrible car.Horrible car. Never buying Nissan again. The transmission on this car went out as soon as I finished paying it off at around 100k miles. Nissan wanted $7000 to fix their own junk transmission. I sold the car and took a big loss. I've read many other reviews of people who have had transmission failures at an even earlier mileage. The problem appears to be that instead of finding a more dependable company to make their transmissions, they've preferred to continue using a company named Jatco. Nissan knows about the excessive amount of their cars that continue to have transmission failures and does nothing about it. For this reason, I will never again buy a Nissan again.

My AltimaI love my Altima. It looks good and it handles beautifully. The gas mileage is good, especially on the highway. The car is comfortable, too.

2017 Altima RSJust got the car about 3 weeks ago (2017 SR model) and enjoy the car so far. This care was replacing a 2015 Mazda 6 (std. transmission) that had 230,000 miles on it when I traded it in. So to have a "new" car is fantastic. So far gas mileage has been at about 33 MPG, although I think the acceleration vs. my old car is somewhat lacking (manual vs. auto), but can't complain. The sound system is OK, but will be replacing the stock system with upgraded aftermarket speakers and deck. I just hope it lasts as long as my 2015 Mazda!

Very underrated vehicle in my honest opinion.Very comfortable, with more room than any other car in its class for a great price. The Zero Gravity Seats are amazing. Very dependable, and very nice looking.

Amazing styling, gas mileage, and comfortI owned sports cars for 20 years and when it came time to move to a sedan, I chose this terrific car. Of course it doesn't handle like a sports car (not built to) but it is a smooth ride, low noise level, great gas mileage (city/highway 30mpg.) Surprising acceleration for a 4 cylinder so merging and passing are no problem at all. The interior really looks nice. I would recommend the Altima for its all-around great value.
