The Nissan Rogue, a compact crossover SUV, has been a popular choice for families since its introduction. The 2019 model continues this trend, offering a blend of practicality and style. Key trims include S, SV, and SL. The pricing range typically falls between $25,000 and $35,000 depending on the trim and options. Its spacious interior, comfortable ride, and available advanced safety features contribute to its popularity.
The Good

The 2019 Nissan Rogue offers a comfortable and smooth ride, appealing to drivers seeking a relaxed experience. Its fuel efficiency is a practical advantage, saving money at the pump. The Rogue's design is modern and attractive, providing emotional appeal, while its overall value makes it an accessible choice for budget-conscious buyers. It's known for respectable reliability.

The Bad

The 2019 Nissan Rogue's engine performance can feel underpowered, especially when fully loaded. Some owners have reported issues with the continuously variable transmission (CVT). What Problems Does the 2019 Nissan Rogue Have?

The 2019 Nissan Rogue, like other model years, has faced some reported problems. One of the primary concerns revolves around the Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT). Some owners have experienced issues such as shuddering, slipping, or premature failure. While Nissan extended the warranty on some earlier Rogue models due to CVT issues, it's essential to check the service history and perform a thorough inspection before purchasing a used 2019 Rogue. Other frequently reported problems include issues with the automatic emergency braking system, where false activations can occur. There have also been reports of electrical problems, such as malfunctioning sensors and issues with the infotainment system. Recalls for the 2019 Rogue have addressed issues ranging from faulty rearview cameras to potential fuel leaks. Long-term reliability concerns often focus on the CVT's durability. Regular maintenance, including fluid changes, is crucial for maximizing the lifespan of the transmission. Premature wear of brake components has also been noted by some owners. It's recommended to check for any open recalls or technical service bulletins related to the specific vehicle you are considering.

How long will the 2019 Nissan Rogue last?

With proper maintenance, a 2019 Nissan Rogue can reasonably be expected to reach 150,000 to 200,000 miles or provide 10-12 years of service. This depends heavily on consistent maintenance, including timely oil changes, transmission fluid replacements, and brake service. The CVT is a key long-term durability concern; regular fluid changes can help prevent premature failure. Rust can be a weakness in regions with harsh winters, so undercarriage protection is advisable. The electrical system should also be monitored over time for potential issues.

I absolutely love my new rogue I like the way it is lifted up higher and there is lots of room and very comfortable rides like a dream

I have always liked Nissan cars since I was a kid. Now that I’m an older man my love for this brand has gotten stronger. Very reliable, great on gas and very spacious. I would highly recommend you buying a Nissan Rogue for your next SUV. I also think that car dealerships don’t get the recognition that they need in order to draw in customers. The People who are quick to write a negative review on a car or car dealership is because either they didn’t do their research or just want to buy a car. Stop do your research and make the best educated decision you can before committing. I did and I’m very happy with my choice.

Have had nothing but issues since buying this car and the dealership where I purchased it and Nissan USA are totally useless. Unfortunately I needed a car immediately and Nissan was having a sale. Now I know why. This car is the biggest piece of garbage I've ever had the displeasure of owning. I should have stuck with Toyota and am shopping around now

2019 Nissan Rogue Prices and Market Value

When new, the 2019 Nissan Rogue ranged from around $25,000 for the base S trim to approximately $35,000 for a fully loaded SL trim. As of late 2024, used market prices typically range from $15,000 to $22,000, depending on mileage, condition, and trim level. Depreciation is typical for a vehicle in this class. Factors affecting resale value include mileage, condition (especially mechanical soundness and lack of accidents), service history, and the presence of desirable features like AWD and advanced safety technology. Well-maintained Rogues with lower mileage command higher resale prices.

2019 Nissan Rogue Cost of Ownership

The 2019 Nissan Rogue is generally considered relatively economical to own. Insurance costs are typically moderate. Fuel economy is decent, contributing to lower running costs. Routine maintenance is straightforward and affordable. However, potential CVT repairs can be expensive, so budgeting for this possibility is wise. Overall, long-term ownership costs are average for its class, but diligent maintenance is key to preventing potentially costly repairs.

2019 Nissan Rogue Insurance

Insurance for a 2019 Nissan Rogue is moderately priced, reflecting its status as a Wagon with strong safety ratings and
reasonable repair costs.

How Does the 2019 Nissan Rogue Compare to Other Wagon?

The 2019 Nissan Rogue competes with the Toyota RAV4, Honda CR-V, Mazda CX-5, and Ford Escape. In terms of performance, the Rogue lags behind the CX-5 and some RAV4 trims. The CR-V and RAV4 generally offer slightly better reliability. Feature-wise, the Rogue is competitive, especially in higher trims with ProPILOT Assist. Price-wise, the Rogue is often more affordable than the RAV4 and CR-V, making it an attractive option for budget-conscious buyers.

Alternatives to consider include:
  • Toyota RAV4: More reliable and better resale value, but pricier.
  • Honda CR-V: Similar to RAV4 in reliability and practicality, but can be more expensive.
  • Mazda CX-5: More engaging driving experience but less cargo space.
  • Hyundai Tucson/Kia Sportage: Offer excellent value and longer warranties.

If reliability and resale value are paramount, the RAV4 or CR-V are better choices. If driving enjoyment is a priority, the CX-5 excels. If value is key, the Rogue or Hyundai/Kia options present compelling alternatives.

Final Verdict: Is the 2019 Nissan Rogue a Good Wagon?

The 2019 Nissan Rogue is a decent choice for buyers seeking a comfortable, fuel-efficient compact SUV at an attractive price point. It's ideal for small families or individuals who prioritize practicality and value over sporty performance. It's worth buying used, particularly if a thorough inspection reveals a well-maintained example with a healthy CVT. Look for SV or SL trims for the best balance of features and price. Be sure to get a pre-purchase inspection from a trusted mechanic, paying close attention to the CVT's condition, and verify the recall status.

Avoid

Bought car brand new in 2019, has about 60k miles now. It has had multiple problems. Electrical system has been awful- I've gone through multiple batteries. Touchpad in dash has had to been replaced. Door lock have stopped working on driver side door. I've also had engine problems too. Most of these things have not been covered by warranty. I had high hopes for this car and thought Nissan had a good reputation for quality. I regret this purchase.

Very sharp

I am very pleased with my Rogue. It is a 2019 that I purchased with 13K. I think the styling is very good and the interior is roomy. I'm 6' and my brother is 6-2 and we both have plenty of headroom in the front or the back. The turning radius is very good. Only downside (which I don't care about) is the acceleration is only mediocre. Overall, highly recommended.

Cheaply Made, Money Pit.

Nissan used to make reliable cars. Nissan now makes cars with planned obsolescence. They want their cars to be broken down and scraped in 10 years or less. They don't want them to linger on the used market for 25 years providing value to everyday people. Stay away. Don't make my mistake.

Truly an amazing car

I truly love driving this car. Tons of space of the inside, great on gas, and good acceleration for a crossover SUV when you put your foot down.

Beware

Our Actuator (car door lock) broke on our car and Nissan refused to help pay to fix it. It cost us 700 dollars! I don’t know about you but my expectation is that the lock on the car should last for the car’s lifetime.
