The 2021 Nissan Rogue represents the beginning of the model's third generation, a compact SUV known for its family-friendly features and comfortable ride. It's available as a four-door SUV. Key trims include S, SV, SL, and Platinum. New, the price ranged roughly from $26,000 to $37,000. The 2021 Rogue stands out due to its redesigned interior, improved technology, and enhanced safety features, making it a popular choice for those seeking a practical and refined SUV.
The Good

The 2021 Nissan Rogue offers a comfortable and spacious interior, appealing to practical buyers seeking a family-friendly SUV. Some owners have reported issues with the infotainment system, including software glitches and slow response times. What Problems Does the 2021 Nissan Rogue Have?

Frequently reported problems for the 2021 Nissan Rogue include issues with the automatic emergency braking system, where it may activate unnecessarily. Some owners have also reported problems with the infotainment system, such as freezing, lagging, and connectivity issues with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. There have been some recalls related to fuel system leaks and improperly welded seat frames, which could affect safety in a crash. Long-term reliability concerns revolve around the CVT transmission, a known weak point in some Nissan models, though Nissan has made improvements. However, it's still a component to monitor for potential issues like slipping or shuddering over time. The 2021 Rogue, being a redesigned model, had some typical first-year issues, so checking for service records and addressing any recall notices is crucial when considering a used model. Regular maintenance and addressing any unusual noises or behavior from the CVT can help prolong its lifespan.

How long will the 2021 Nissan Rogue last?

With proper maintenance, the 2021 Nissan Rogue can reasonably be expected to provide 150,000 to 200,000 miles or 10-13 years of service. Regular oil changes, timely CVT fluid replacements, and addressing any mechanical issues promptly are crucial for longevity. Long-term durability concerns center on the CVT transmission and potential electronic issues with the infotainment system. While Nissan has improved CVT designs, diligent maintenance is still recommended. Rust can be a concern in regions with harsh winters, so regular washing and undercoating are advised. Overall, the Rogue's lifespan depends heavily on consistent and proactive maintenance.

I just what people to know that you better take your key with you at all times . For I went to the groomer to take a friend’s dog . Got out of my car shut the door went to the other side to get the dog out !!and the doors were locked and my keys were inside …If that would have been a child you would have broke the window….good that the crooner gave me a ride home to get the second fob .THISIS A VERY STRONG SAFETY CONCERN
Never Again
Had this car 3 months it’s my 3rd Rogue. Monitor not working, no radio, gps iPhone connect charging backup cameras, weird noise, flashing Nissan logo, it’s been 2 months, they cannot find the part anywhere! Nissan consumer affairs have stopped calling to give updates, but yet want you to pay your monthly payment for a new car that’s not 100% Beware if you buy they cannot fix it, you’ll be stuck with a LEMON!

What Technology & Safety Features are Included?

The 2021 Nissan Rogue comes standard with an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Higher trims offer a larger 9-inch touchscreen and wireless Apple CarPlay. Entertainment features include a Bose premium audio system (available on SL and Platinum trims). Driver-assistance features are abundant, with Nissan Safety Shield 360 standard on all trims. This includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, high beam assist, and rear automatic braking. ProPILOT Assist, standard on SV and higher trims, adds adaptive cruise control and lane centering for semi-autonomous driving. Optional features include a 360-degree camera system and a head-up display. The 2021 Nissan Rogue received high crash-test ratings from both the NHTSA and IIHS. The IIHS named it a Top Safety Pick+, indicating excellent performance in crash tests and for its advanced safety features. These technologies provide added confidence and safety for drivers and passengers.

2021 Nissan Rogue Prices and Market Value

The 2021 Nissan Rogue had a starting MSRP of around $26,000 when new, with higher trims reaching up to $37,000. As of late 2024, used market prices typically range from $18,000 to $28,000, depending on the trim level, mileage, and condition. Depreciation is influenced by factors like mileage, condition, accident history, and demand for used SUVs. Rogues in excellent condition with low mileage and a clean title will command higher resale values. The availability of advanced safety features and desirable trim levels also positively impacts resale value. Overall, the Rogue depreciates at a rate typical for its class.

2021 Nissan Rogue Cost of Ownership

The 2021 Nissan Rogue generally offers economical ownership costs. Insurance premiums are typically average for the compact SUV segment. Fuel costs are reasonable, thanks to its decent fuel economy. Routine maintenance, such as oil changes and tire rotations, is affordable. However, potential CVT transmission repairs could be a significant expense. Overall, the Rogue is a relatively budget-friendly vehicle to own, especially if preventive maintenance is performed regularly and the CVT is well-maintained.

2021 Nissan Rogue Insurance

Insurance for a 2021 Nissan Rogue is moderately priced, reflecting its status as a Vehicle with strong safety ratings and
reasonable repair costs.

How Does the 2021 Nissan Rogue Compare to Other Vehicle?

The 2021 Nissan Rogue competes with rivals like the Toyota RAV4, Honda CR-V, Mazda CX-5, and Hyundai Tucson. In terms of performance, the Rogue's engine is less powerful than some competitors, such as the Mazda CX-5's available turbo engine. The RAV4 and CR-V have stronger reputations for long-term reliability. The Rogue offers competitive pricing and a well-appointed interior, especially in higher trims. Feature-wise, it stacks up well with standard safety tech and available ProPILOT Assist. However, the Tucson offers a longer warranty. Alternatives to consider include the Toyota RAV4 for its reliability and resale value, the Honda CR-V for its spacious interior and fuel efficiency, and the Mazda CX-5 for its sporty handling and upscale interior. The Hyundai Tucson presents a compelling option with its modern design, long warranty, and value proposition. Each has strengths; the best choice depends on individual priorities and preferences.

I bought my SV for 37k new in mid 2021 .

I bought my SV for 37k new in mid 2021 . 14 mos later battery failed ok it happens then after about 26 mos alternator fails . OK no problem I’ll go to autozone and buy another wrong …. you can only get the part from the dealer for between 800-1000. There is no place that can rebuild it, no kits available any where and there are no after market parts either. Labor to install is roughly 1,000. So 2k to change an alternator that’s robbery

Terrible.

Terrible. Bought a cert. Per used 2021 Rouge and have it less than six months since that it for away from home on vacation and my car decide it don't want to move from gear. Had to have my car towed 2 hours 2 the closest Nissan. Only for them to have my car for a full week. Left me with NO CAR And when I finally got in back the check engine light is on. Than I read Rouge has ASA these recalls that I wasn't told about when I bought the vehicle. So I'm clearly beyond pissed and as much as I like nissan NOT NO MORE!

Total waist

The inside looks great. No pick up what so ever. Tired of all the signals, malfunctions and irritations. Going in the shop for the second time for a recall. I had a 2010 Nissan Sentra that ran better than this. I would recommend this car to no one.

Do not buy

2021 rogue Platinum. at 33,000, the car has had to be jumped 3 x’s in 3 weeks. It lost power 2 x while driving with every warning light flashing, one time going trong mph. Nissan will not cover the diagnostic test, labor or a new battery. This is not how a bad battery behaves. It started on the coldest day and then would not start the next day when it was in my garage.

A really good car to drive and own. Lower prices

This is my third Rogue. I had a 2015, 2018 and now a 2021. I really like the 2018 design. The 2021 has really grown on me. I also had a 1995 Pathfinder, and a 2000 Pathfinder. I guess you can say I like Nissans!
