Produced by Toyota since 1997, the Sienna is available in various trims, including the L, LE, SE, XLE, and Limited. Pricing ranges approximately from $29,000 to $47,000 when new. Its standout feature is the available all-wheel drive, making it unique in its class and popular for those living in regions with inclement weather.
The Good

The 2016 Toyota Sienna excels in reliability and comfort, offering a smooth ride. Its spacious interior appeals to practical buyers, while the available sporty SE trim and the feeling of security it provides resonate emotionally. What Problems Does the 2016 Toyota Sienna Have?

The 2016 Toyota Sienna generally enjoys a good reputation for reliability, but some issues have been reported. Common complaints include problems with the power sliding doors, where they may fail to open or close correctly. Some owners have also reported issues with the Entune infotainment system, such as freezing or malfunctioning touchscreens. There have been some reports of minor electrical issues, such as problems with the power windows or door locks.

Recalls for the 2016 Sienna have addressed issues such as potential problems with the fuel tank and rollaway risk due to improperly tightened fasteners. It's crucial to check the vehicle's VIN with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to ensure all applicable recalls have been addressed. Long-term reliability concerns primarily revolve around the longevity of the automatic transmission and the potential for oil leaks as the vehicle ages. Regularly scheduled maintenance, including fluid changes, is essential to mitigate these risks. Some owners have also noted that the leather upholstery in higher trims can show wear and tear over time, especially with heavy use.

How long will the 2016 Toyota Sienna last?

With regular maintenance, a 2016 Toyota Sienna can easily reach 200,000 miles or more. Many owners report 10-15 years of reliable service. Proper oil changes, transmission fluid maintenance, and timely replacement of wear items are crucial. Long-term durability is generally strong, but potential weaknesses include the automatic transmission (requiring fluid changes) and the power sliding doors, which may need repairs over time. Rust can also be a concern in areas with harsh winters, so undercarriage washing is recommended.

I have a awd version Sienna and it is ok for running kids around town, but long trips I find this vehicle very uncomfortable and unrefined. Very reliable have had zero issues for almost 3 years, u think they would make a van designed more towards comfort and long trip.

2016 Toyota Sienna Insurance

Insurance for a 2016 Toyota Sienna is moderately priced, reflecting its status as a Van with strong safety ratings and
reasonable repair costs.

How Does the 2016 Toyota Sienna Compare to Other Van?

The 2016 Toyota Sienna competes with the Honda Odyssey, Chrysler Pacifica, and Kia Sedona. The Sienna's advantage lies in its available all-wheel drive, a feature not offered by its main rivals. Performance is comparable across the class, with similar V6 engines. The Honda Odyssey typically offers slightly sharper handling, while the Chrysler Pacifica boasts a more modern interior and available hybrid powertrain. The Kia Sedona is often priced more competitively but may not match the Sienna's long-term reliability reputation.

In terms of features, the Sienna offers a competitive suite of entertainment and safety tech. Reliability is a strong suit for both the Sienna and Odyssey. Ultimately, the best choice depends on individual priorities. If all-wheel drive is a must, the Sienna is the clear winner. For a more engaging driving experience, the Odyssey is a good option. If budget is a primary concern, the Sedona may be considered, but reliability should be carefully researched. The Pacifica presents a more stylish and technologically advanced option, albeit potentially with higher repair costs over time.

The 2016 Toyota Sienna is an excellent choice for families seeking a reliable and spacious minivan. It's particularly well-suited for those who need all-wheel drive or prioritize Toyota's reputation for dependability. It's generally worth buying, especially on the used market, provided it has been well-maintained and inspected for common issues like power door malfunctions. Trims like the XLE offer a good balance of features and value. A pre-purchase inspection is crucial to ensure the vehicle's condition aligns with its price.

I bought mine used in 2019 with 22,000 miles on it.

I bought mine used in 2019 with 22,000 miles on it. I'm now over 107,000 miles with no real problems. I've only done routine maintenance and it still drives a smooth gist as it did when I bought it and wouldn't have one hesitation driving it long distance anywhere. I've recently had the check engine light come on and it shows trac off, but I don't believe it's anything more than a sensor. Overall it holds up to the Toyota reputation of reliability, so much so that my wife winded up trading her dream Jeep Gladiator in for a Toyota 4Runner and hasn't looked back.

I want another XLE!

I put 4 stars for comfort bc I bought a 2016 xle in late 2021. The pleather seats were in rough shape and had a lot of cracks and splits. Idk if that may be because the previous owner never took care of the seats or that's all the life you'll get from them.

Sleek, looks and feels like an SUV

I dig it. It's a bit loud as far as exterior noise, and you feel the bumps a bit more given its proximity to the ground, but it's a great vehicle. It looks and feels good to drive.

Priced very good

Van was missing the rear seat entertainment remote and headphones. $370 for the remote and the dealership would not mark down the price. Other than the poor Walser sales team. The car function's as it should.

Dies sometimes

This van meets all my needs. It has plenty of space and is very comfortable. The only drawback is that sometimes the vehicle does not turn on. The connection to the battery seems to be loose. We have tightened it multiple times but it still comes loose. I don't mind as long as it eventually makes a connection and the van starts.
