This vehicle is a 2004. It has been very reliable. It is a five speed manual transmission V6. It has enough power. The only fault I can give is (like all Toyota Standards they often haven't be double clutched to get them in reverse. Other than regular maintenance it's been a great vehicle.

I bought it with a salvage title 12 years ago (I later found out it had been wrecked 4 times). It now has 295,000 miles and other than maintenance I've only replaced the radiator and the harmonic balancer, both of which can be attributed to having been wrecked. 295,000 miles. Original clutch. No engine work. No trans work. This thing is bullet proof. Considering what I could sell it for now my cost of ownership has been around $40/month for a vehicle every bit as reliable as a new car. This is quite attractive compared to a $400/month car payment and that extra $360/month over 20 years will enable me to retire early. This is my 4th Toyota in a row and I am now looking at a used Solara for traveling. Needless to say you cannot go wrong with a Toyota, especially a Tacoma if a small truck is what you need. Considering the crap that comes out of Detroit I have no idea how Chrysler, Ford, or GM stays in business.

I have one major beef with this truck . I've broken leaf springs 5 times and I've never abused the truck or taken it off road . I don't understand why there's no recall for this problem . There was a recall of 690000 for broken leaf springs on 2005 and up .

Toyota are good vehicles

This vehicle is a 2004. It has been very reliable. It is a five speed manual transmission V6. It has enough power. The only fault I can give is (like all Toyota Standards they often haven't be double clutched to get them in reverse. Other than regular maintenance it's been a great vehicle.

Dependable and Durable

I’ve got 350k miles on my ‘04, and the only things that needed repair were an alternator replacement and repair of a rear axle seal leak. Incredibly reliable, plenty of engine pick-up. Paint has held up very well in southern heat. Seats can get uncomfortable and interior gets tight with 4XL adults, but all in all probably the best vehicle I’ve ever owned.

Absolutely the best Truck I've ever owned

Brought it new and nothing ever wrong with it for the 4 years I owned it. It's a Toyota you seriously can't stop them. Just do oil changes, and brake pads they will go forever.

My favorite vehicle I’ve owned

I’ve always know Toyota’s we’re great, but after owning one it’s even more clear. It’s so easy to do routine maintenance because of the access to everything and this truck has been everything I’ve needed it to be.

Best Purchase I've Ever Made

Like Barny above, I bought my 04 in 04 and in 15 years, other than fluid changes and a timing belt, the only maintenance was an O2 sensor at 14 years. Even the brakes are original. My one complaint? Clock placement! I've now gone to semi-syn oil, and will be retrofitting a tranny cooler with new shocks & struts to pull a lightweight travel trailer this summer. Hang on, Stella!

Only isssue is the frame rotting out

Great truck decent on gas mileage strong motor and transmission as long as it's maintained well. Has 304000 miles on a still runs as it just came off the lot. Only thing is that Toyota never said it had a recall for the frame which it doesn't say that it does. but they never even mailed anything out to have the frame checked out to see if it needed replaced on there behalf. Then I call today and they say that if I would have had it checked in 2014 and it needed replaced they would have free of charge.

Reliable!

I bought my 04 in 04. In 14 years, other than fluid changes and a timing belt, the only maintenance was an O2 sensor at 14 years. Even the brakes are original.

One major flaw

I have one major beef with this truck . I've broken leaf springs 5 times and I've never abused the truck or taken it off road . I don't understand why there's no recall for this problem . There was a recall of 690000 for broken leaf springs on 2005 and up .
