For emotional buyers, the Tacoma provides a sense of adventure and ruggedness, paired with excellent resale value, making it a smart investment and a trustworthy companion.

What Problems Does the 2000 Toyota Tacoma Have?
Other frequently reported problems include ball joint wear, which can lead to steering issues and, if neglected, catastrophic failure. Lower control arm bushings are also prone to wear. Engine ticking noises are sometimes reported, particularly in the 3.4L V6, often attributed to valve train noise or exhaust leaks. Interior components, such as the dashboard and door panels, can be susceptible to cracking due to sun exposure.
Recalls for the 2000 Tacoma primarily focused on issues like improperly torqued rear axle bolts. Routine maintenance, especially regarding lubrication and corrosion prevention, is crucial for long-term reliability. Checking the vehicle's VIN for any outstanding recalls before purchasing is always recommended.

Driver-assistance features were minimal, consisting mainly of power steering and optional cruise control. Safety features included standard front airbags. Anti-lock brakes (ABS) were an available option.

2000 Toyota Tacoma Prices and Market Value
Tacomas are known for their exceptional resale value due to their reliability and reputation. Factors affecting resale value include: low mileage, rust-free condition (especially the frame), well-documented maintenance history, desirable options (like 4WD and the V6 engine), and overall cleanliness. High demand keeps prices relatively high, even for older models.

How Does the 2000 Toyota Tacoma Compare to Other Pickup Truck?
In terms of features, the Tacoma was fairly basic compared to some rivals, but its focus on durability over luxury appealed to many buyers. If reliability is the top priority, the Tacoma remains a strong choice. For buyers seeking more features or a lower initial price, the Nissan Frontier or Ford Ranger might be considered, but be aware of potential trade-offs in long-term dependability. Newer models of the Honda Ridgeline (though larger) offer car-like handling and a more comfortable ride, but sacrifice some off-road prowess.

Possibly the most dependable truck EVERWe are still driving it in 2022. Can I really say more? It never lets us down. Do we look hot tooling around town, no, but there is no car payment, insurance is low and we don't have to worry about where we park it. LOL

Dealer swindled me.JNM Auto sales sold me this car with massive frame rust disguised with thin coat of epoxy and paint. Not safe to drive, won't take car back, won't return my phone calls. I am screwed out of $7,800.

Love my TacomaI bought mine off the lot with 3 miles in 2000. I still own it, 19 years later. It has 292k miles and with the same engine. I replaced parts and kept up with the maintenance. It still drives like new and I love my baby. If I had the money, I would Linex it and do more customs on it. Next year, I'm purchasing the antique license plate.

I love my Tacoma “Tonka†PreRunner chariotI love everything about my Tacoma “Tonka†PreRunner chariot. It’s a stout rugged, dependable little powerhouse of a light duty truck. The saddle utility box in the back is perfect for what I need to carry with me. PERFECT

Tacoma 4x4 single cab 2.7 literI'll start with the downside of owning this truck. At the price point there are a lot of other types of vechiles available. The interior is cramped for a tall person. The engine is sluggish. However, this truck is extremely reliable. I've owned two of them and put over 100,000 miles on both. Both Manuel transmission, both 4x4. Both had the 2.7 liter. Never had a hiccup on either. Not even a battery change. Put BF Goodrich A/T on both of them. Truck was so light that it never really wore down the tires. When I sold it there was still plenty of tread. Used the 4x4, never abused it. Only reason I sold it was I had 3 boys. No room.

My best investmentI bought mine off the lot and it had 3 miles. Now it has 285k miles and still going strong. It needs a paint job and new interior carpet but the engine is still the original. People around me keep getting new vehicles and I'm still with me truck.

This is the Most Reliable Truck I have ever owned.I feel very happy and lucky to own this Tacoma Pickup truck. I bought it new in 2000. So far, I have driven 221K miles. It still looks and drives like a new truck, actually better, and it is not an over statement.

Great truckI think it would have been a bit more hp on a automatic. But truck feels a bit light well so far so good .

Tacoma, the best value.I test drove several used Tacomas, but given the very high resale value of Tacomas, I ended up buying a new one.
