The Good
The 2020 Tacoma offers legendary Toyota reliability, appealing to practical buyers. Its rugged design and off-road capabilities spark emotional appeal. Performance is adequate, though not class-leading, while resale value remains strong. Off-road focused TRD models offer impressive trail performance.
The Bad
The 2020 Tacoma's weaknesses include a cramped rear seat in the Access Cab, a sometimes-sluggish automatic transmission, and average fuel economy. The interior design, while functional, can feel dated compared to rivals. Ride quality can be stiff, especially on off-road focused models.

How Does the 2020 Toyota Tacoma Compare to Other Truck?
The Tacoma's interior can feel dated compared to the Colorado/Canyon and Ranger. The Ranger's turbocharged engine provides superior performance. If on-road comfort and refinement are priorities, the Ford Ranger might be a better choice. If maximum off-road capability is the goal, the Tacoma TRD Off-Road or TRD Pro are excellent options. For budget-conscious buyers, the Nissan Frontier offers a lower entry price but sacrifices features and refinement. The Honda Ridgeline offers superior on-road comfort and handling, but lacks the ruggedness and towing capacity of the Tacoma.

Perfect Truck.Perfect truck. Best all around pick-up truck. Good off road, great gas mileage. Cheap insurance, awesome looking, good towing, decent load capacity, seats 4 comfortably. Rides great.

TransmissionTest drove at a local dealership. Still thinking about buying the truck, Toyotas are very reliable. But the transmission is terrible. Jerky. Scares me. I may look into a different year.

Great pickupI have driven Toyota’s most of my adult life. I cannot say anything bad about them. They are wonderful cars, and that has been my experience. I know a reputable owner of a used car dealership and he said that at my age (68), if I buy a Toyota pickup they will drive my family to my funeral in it. He said that it will outlast me, and I believe him! I just bought the Tacoma, and it runs great, but it only had 13,000 miles on it! They all run good when they’re new, but judging from past experience, it will be great also.

2020 toyota TacomaVery disappointing in throttle response very lazy and the transmission is constantly shifting goes into 6 gear before u get to 20 then shifts down and up over and over radio is weak with sound

Junk rear brakes2020 Trd Tacoma brand new, it’s been in the shop six times they replace bearings and axles in the rear end three times and rear brake brakes four times. Happened before 10,000 miles and then the brakes were shaking again I took it back for seventh time just to be told that it’s my problem and the truck was still under warranty. I cannot recommend a company that will not stand behind the product. The drums I pulled off this truck were so cheap and warped. I put on a high end drum and the truck drives better than it ever has and I get all my own labor

HesitationI have a issue with acceleration and gear change when gasing it for lane change, ramp acceleration etc. There is to much hesitation in gear change.

Not what I expectedI went from a Tundra to a Tacoma looking to help on gas mileage. I did gain some, but the trade off was not worth it. I had the V6 and it seemed to be under powered. On the highway it was constantly shifting up and down to stay at speed. Love the look, but it was just not for me.
