I bought this truck new in Dec 2000. Now has 325,000 miles on it and is going strong. Usual and expected wear and tear on a truck that has been used as a TRUCK. never molly coddled. Body still tight with no rattles.

Seriously cannot say enough how happy we've been with this truck. It tows like a BEAST. With the cooled transmission, added rear airbags, and upgraded tow package we pull a 8,800 lb trailer like a boss. We've towed across country and this truck hasn't disappointed. Super comfortable, plush, cushy heated leather seats.. upgraded sound system.. tons of leg room. Yup. It's basically the best truck ever. We've owned for a few years now and if you're good to your truck it will be good to you. Super reliable. Love the fact we can tow the "land barge" yet still have a small enough truck to maneuver easily around the mall parking lot when we're running errands. Love everything about it.

You people should have your head examined. Asking $5,000 for a truck that's 20 years old and has 200,000 miles on it is ridiculous not to mention it's been smashed on the passenger side

Be cautious on purchasing these trucks

I have a 2001 GMC Sierra SLE 1500 extended cab two-wheel drive version with the 5.3 litter V8 engine with 123,904 miles exactly on my trucks odometer. I have own the old girl since 2016 late November I am writeing this review on August 22nd 2023 mid afternoon so I see a lot of great reviews on here about this trucks but I definitely disagree on some of them. I have invested thousands of dollars in my truck since I've owned it and I have put more money in repair than what I paid for the truck. My goal was to completely redo the truck from head to toe. My mechanic said from the condition it's in now you're looking at about 10 grand to redo about everything on it and that's with somebody work in your truck should be pretty good at that point. I am already $12,998 into it and that's only for mechanical repair I haven't even got to my body repair yet. I paid almost $7,000 for the truck and I have put 13 Grand pretty much into it in mechanical repair only I don't know where the reliability is here.???? It broke down on me once with my shifting cable snapped and the thing wouldn't go in the park it wouldn't go in anything it would just flop around the shifter I had that fixed but that was the only time the truck is actually stranded me and it stranded me once again about a month after that when I found out I had a leaky fuel line a couple of them up around my transmission so the truck has stranded me twice out of the whole time I've owned it. It's been in the shop probably more than 50 times since I've owned it. The truck has sentimental value to me so that's why I'm not getting rid of it and I've already invested this much money into it I'm going the rest of the way with it cuz I know these trucks are reliable but they have to be running correctly and everything fixed for them to run reliable the guy that owned this truck before me obviously did not take care of the proper things that needed to be done on it my mechanic told me and now you're paying the price unfortunately he said. He estimated wrong he said it was his mistake but he said that from where you are right now you're going to need to probably put in at least another five to $6,000 to get this truck to the point of being inspectable and the body work done and the rest of the mechanic work done. And then maybe another thousand to 1,200 for tires. So I'm looking at least another $7,000 be cautious on buying these trucks always have it checked before you buy it. I bought mine private sale and that was my problem if you can help it by these at a dealership. But if you're going to buy one private sale make sure you bring a mechanic with you. Overall I love my truck but they are not reliable like people say they are. Hopefully after I fix every single thing wrong with this truck it will be reliable at that point but for now with the stuff that did go wrong on it it gets me to where I need to go but all these repairs it's really starting to take its toll on me. I would have never thought that it would have cost me almost $20,000 to redo a truck like this.

The greatest truck even made.

Good ole truck

I bought this truck in Oklahoma, with 208,000k on it. I am the 2nd owner. It has the 5.3l auto. I have had the truck for 1 year and 4 months. Very reliable, and comfortable. It has turned over 224,000k, as I'm writing this review. So, it needs a water pump now, but no big deal. Made several trips from Ok to Fl and back, with 2 trips hauling a trailor, fully loaded to the max, plus the truck loaded. Then a trip from Ok to Pa, towing a trailor. Never once had a hiccup, of any kind. 20-22mph highway, empty, 15mpg, loaded. No complaints. I will get another 100,000 out of my GMC Sierra.

231k miles and still going.

Who buys a truck with 231k miles? Me! I found this used 2001 GMC Sierra 1500 online priced at $3,200. I ended up making a deal and got it for $2,900. When I test drove the truck, it was everything I wanted in a truck. The miles did not scare me because it ran perfect and the engine was solid. I just recently changed out the oil and put Mobil 1 full synthetic and a quart of Lucus oil stabilizer to extend the engine life. This truck is comfortable and has the rear extended doors that also open. It?s pretty good on gas too being a full size pickup truck with the 5.3 v8 engine. I?m in love with my truck and hope that I can put another 100k miles on it.
