The Good
The 2016 Nissan Frontier offers a blend of practicality and rugged appeal. Its proven V6 engine delivers decent performance for work and play. Known for its reliability, it reduces long-term ownership concerns. While not the most luxurious, it provides adequate comfort for daily use. Its straightforward design appeals to those who prefer function over form, offering excellent value for budget-conscious buyers.
The Bad
The 2016 Nissan Frontier's age shows in several areas. Its fuel economy is below average for the class, and the interior design feels dated with basic materials. The ride quality can be stiff, especially on rough roads. The four-cylinder engine is underpowered. Rust can be a problem on older models, especially in areas that use road salt. Watch for potential timing chain issues on the V6.

Analysis
What Problems Does the 2016 Nissan Frontier Have?
Recalls for the 2016 model year have been issued for issues like potential fuel leaks and airbag malfunctions. Check the NHTSA website for the most up-to-date recall information.
Long-term reliability concerns revolve around the aforementioned rust and timing chain issues. Regular maintenance, including oil changes and inspections, is crucial to mitigating these risks. While the engine and transmission are generally robust, neglecting maintenance can lead to premature wear and tear. Overall, the 2016 Frontier's reliability is decent, but diligent maintenance and pre-purchase inspection are recommended.
How long will the 2016 Nissan Frontier last?
Long-term durability hinges on addressing rust prevention, especially in harsh climates. The timing chain (V6) and automatic transmission are also potential weak points that require attention. Regular fluid changes and inspections are key to maximizing the Frontier's lifespan. While the engine itself is strong, neglecting other maintenance areas will shorten its lifespan.

What Technology & Safety Features are Included?
Driver-assistance features are limited. Some models may have a rearview camera. Advanced features like blind-spot monitoring, lane departure warning, and automatic emergency braking were not available on this model year.
Safety features include standard airbags, anti-lock brakes (ABS), and electronic stability control.
The NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) gave the 2016 Nissan Frontier Crew Cab a four-star overall safety rating. IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) ratings varied. It's important to consult both agencies' websites for detailed crash test results specific to cab configuration.
Overall, the 2016 Frontier prioritizes simplicity over cutting-edge technology. Its tech and safety features are adequate but significantly less advanced than more modern trucks.

2016 Nissan Frontier Prices and Market Value
The Frontier holds its value reasonably well due to its reputation for reliability and affordability. Lower mileage examples in excellent condition command higher prices. Factors affecting resale value include trim level (PRO-4X models are more desirable), 4WD availability, and overall condition. Depreciation is slower than some competitors, making it a relatively good investment in the long run.

How Does the 2016 Nissan Frontier Compare to Other Sport Utility Vehicle Cab; Truck?
In terms of performance, the Frontier's V6 is adequate but not class-leading. Its features are basic compared to its rivals, especially regarding technology and safety. Reliability is where the Frontier shines, often outperforming the Colorado/Canyon in long-term dependability.
Alternatives to the 2016 Frontier include:
* Toyota Tacoma: If reliability and resale value are top priorities, and budget allows.
* Chevrolet Colorado/GMC Canyon: If you want more modern features and better fuel economy, but are willing to potentially sacrifice some long-term reliability.
For buyers prioritizing affordability and proven reliability over modern features, the 2016 Nissan Frontier remains a compelling choice.

Final Verdict: Is the 2016 Nissan Frontier a Good Sport Utility Vehicle Cab; Truck?
Whether it's worth buying depends on your needs and budget. On the used market, a well-maintained 2016 Frontier offers excellent value. Look for V6 models for better performance. The PRO-4X trim is desirable for off-road enthusiasts. Avoid examples with significant rust. Consider a pre-purchase inspection by a trusted mechanic to assess its condition. If modern features aren't a priority, the 2016 Nissan Frontier can be a dependable and budget-friendly option.

I have a 2016 frontier.I have a 2016 frontier. 190 thousand miles. Bearings went on front of vehicle which was easy to replace. The rear bearing is also bad and this is where I have the problem. Having a very hard time finding a shop that will undress old bearing and press on new bearing being the axle is couple feet long. This is frustrating being this is my only form of transportation and the vehicle I'm borrowing I will have to give back soon. So now I think how will I get to work a hour away. Smh

Many likes some dislikesI only have two issues with this vehicle! Poor gas mileage! Terrible turn radius! I tow a boat and my friends who have full size trucks ( F150, Chevy 1500, and Dodges ) get better gas mileage Than I do towing their boats then I do without towing! Some of them have backed me in to the launch and then park the vehicle! They come back and say the turn radius is bad !

The engine is well-tuned and robust. 4x4/2 worksExcellent for private or work truck. The engine is very powerful and the bucket seats are very comfortable. With 4 full individual doors, moving in and out of the truck is much easier. More legroom than most of your standard full-size sedans.

Nicest Truck that I have owned with many extras.Have owned Ford F150 Extended Cab and Ram 1500 Crew Cab that have lots of room. This Nissan Frontier Crew Cab has plenty of room and performs just as well with the V6 engine. Much easier to handle than larger vehicles.

For the money, better than the TacomaI've owned two of these vehicles. First one I took to 130000 miles. the second one, just over a hundred thousand. Normal maintenance, nothing crazy. I'm sad they don't make the manual transmission anymore

For those of us who live in less than stellar areaI purchased an sv crew cab and at first was okay. I like the simplicity of it. However, I live in an area where when we get massive rain storms, my truck is almost in the ditch. Nice, sunny day? Handles fine. Stinger than average winds? Heavy rain? Water on the road? No. Just no. Driving through anything other than clear perfect skies is almost impossible. I've driven cars that have better handling than this truck. But hey, if you just live in the city and there's good drainage on the road ect, then it's perfect

2016 4x2 Desert RunnerI really like the Frontier platform even if it hasnβt changed in a while.Itβs a great looking truck with plenty of power. I chose the Desert Runner king cab for the looks and power of it. The gas mileage is what I expected from the V6. So for I am very pleased with it.
