The Good
The 2019 Frontier offers a strong V6 engine for adequate performance. It boasts a reputation for reliability, appealing to practical buyers. Its simple, truck-like design resonates with those who appreciate traditional styling. While not the most fuel-efficient, its lower price point provides excellent value, making it an attractive choice for budget-conscious buyers.
The Bad
The 2019 Nissan Frontier is dated compared to newer competitors. The interior design and materials feel cheap. Fuel economy is subpar. The ride quality can be rough. The technology features are basic. Be aware of potential rust issues, especially in regions with road salt. A thorough pre-purchase inspection is recommended.

Analysis
What Problems Does the 2019 Nissan Frontier Have?
Another issue reported by owners relates to the timing chain tensioner, particularly in earlier model years of this generation Frontier (though less frequent in 2019, it's worth noting). Symptoms include a rattling noise upon startup.
Regarding recalls, it's crucial to check the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) website for any active recalls affecting the 2019 Frontier. Recalls can address safety-related defects and are performed free of charge by Nissan dealerships. Long-term reliability is generally good, but consistent maintenance, including oil changes and fluid checks, is essential to ensure optimal performance and longevity. Some owners have reported issues with the air conditioning system over time. Before purchasing a used 2019 Frontier, a pre-purchase inspection by a qualified mechanic is highly recommended to identify any potential problems.
How long will the 2019 Nissan Frontier last?
What Technology & Safety Features are Included?
Driver-assistance features are limited. A rearview camera is standard, but more advanced features like blind-spot monitoring, lane departure warning, and automatic emergency braking are not available.
Safety features include standard airbags, antilock brakes, and electronic stability control.
Crash-test ratings from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) can vary. It's best to consult their respective websites for the most accurate and up-to-date information. Generally, the Frontier's crash test performance is acceptable but not exceptional compared to more modern trucks. Keep in mind that due to its older design, it may not perform as well in some of the newer crash tests.

How Does the 2019 Nissan Frontier Compare to Other Pickup Truck?
However, the Frontier shines in affordability. It's often significantly less expensive than its competitors. Its reliability is also a strong point. For buyers prioritizing a budget-friendly and dependable truck without needing the latest features, the Frontier is a viable option.
Alternatives to consider include a used Toyota Tacoma for better resale and off-road capability, or a newer Chevrolet Colorado/GMC Canyon for a more modern experience. If budget is a major concern and basic truck functionality is all that's needed, the Frontier remains a competitive choice. A used Honda Ridgeline offers better on-road comfort, but may not match the towing capacity of the Frontier. The Ford Ranger may be better for fuel efficiency and modern features, but may be more expensive.

Basic dependable truck.I owned GMC pickups for 30 years, until they became too expensive. I purchase 2019 Frontier and I am completely satisfied. Dependable, and a great basic truck. Good gas mileage and inexpensive to maintain.

2019 Nissan Frontier SV 4x4I have owned a few Chevys, Fords, and unfortunately a few Dodge Dakotas and one Ram 1500. My 2019 Nissan Frontier SV 4x4 out performs all of them and is less expensive than all. I will never buy another union made piece of junk ever again.

Frontier V6 4.0 were the best engines built!I own a 2019 Nissan Frontier SV V6 4X4 with 50K miles, best truck I ever owned. I curretly also own a 2010 Nissan Pathfinder with 278k miles and runs as good as the day it came out of the showroom. these V6 4.0 were the best motors Nissan built with no flaws. The new Nissan engines can't come close to the 4.0 V6.

My Frontier is a great truckI bought a 2019 new in September of 2019. Truck has ran flawlessly for 4 years. Plenty of power, and capability. 2nd generation Frontiers (05-19) are great trucks.

The newest oldest truck you can buy, which is a grI bought this truck for the sole reason as nothing has changed since 05ish. The 4.0 is a good reliable engine with no known major issues past 2012. Also a 5-speed automatic which is known to be pretty reliable and smooth. It has More power compared to the other mid-size trucks I've driven. It will move if you want it to move, it's pretty easy to speed in If you're not paying attention. Gas mileage is not terrible, it's a truck after all. Turning radius isn't as bad as people say it is, unless you're a four-wheel drive, and then it's bad. Plenty of room in the crew cab, even more room than my focus had, I can fit a toolbox and all my gear behind the rear seats and under them as well. Very smooth and quiet ride, which really surprised me. The engine is well balanced, so no vibration or humming during stop lights. The headlights are a bit on the weak side, so I'd suggest upgrading to LED's. Overall it's a great commuter.

Facilities Management winPurchased my 2019 Frontier Crew Cab SV2WD pre owned with 21k miles. At the time I ran a contracting business and stepped down in size from a Ford F150. Best decision I ever made. The truck handles everything I throw at it. I've changed careers, doing facilities work for a very large department store chain so I do a bit of driving now. Short distances (in the NJ/NY market) the gas mileage isn't great. Not terrible but not great. However, on the highway I find the Frontier to do very well. My '19 has the 5' bed and came with a Century cap. I'm able to stage all the tools I need (along with a utility cart) in the bed and I never find myself wanting more space. On the weekends my fiancee and her special needs daughter love going places in the truck. Interior is comfortable and quiet. V6 power is great and I love the modest drone that comes out the tailpipe. I feel very blessed to have this truck. Love hopping in every morning.

Poor gas mileageLove the truck the only negative is the poor city gas mileage 12.8 MPG I do the math manually. Great highway driving long distance for sure.

Best truck I've ever ownedoI've only had my Frontier for 6 months but compared to other vehicles I have owned, this is the quietest of them all. The economy is great, I only fill the gas tank about once a month unless I travel to the big city which I do about once every two months. Highly reccommend
