The Good
The 2000 Chevy Blazer offers decent performance from its V6 engine and respectable off-road capability. Practically, it provided a good value for its size and features. Emotionally, its traditional SUV design and association with adventure appealed to buyers. While not the most refined, it offers simple, rugged dependability for the price.
The Bad
Known weaknesses of the 2000 Chevy Blazer include potential issues with the fuel system (fuel pump failure), the automatic transmission, and rust, especially in areas with road salt. The interior plastics can be prone to cracking, and overall build quality is not always the highest. Watch for leaks as well.

What Problems Does the 2000 Chevrolet Blazer Have?
Electrical issues, such as problems with the anti-lock braking system (ABS) and the climate control system, are also reported. Some owners have experienced problems with the intake manifold gaskets, leading to coolant leaks. Recalls for the 2000 Blazer addressed issues such as faulty windshield wiper motors and potential fuel leakage in certain conditions. These recalls should have been addressed by dealerships, but it's essential to verify any used Blazer's recall history.
Long-term reliability can be a concern due to the age of the vehicle. Components such as the starter, alternator, and various sensors are more likely to fail over time. Regular maintenance and addressing minor issues promptly can help extend the Blazer's lifespan. Prior maintenance records are crucial when considering purchasing a used 2000 Blazer.

What Technology & Safety Features are Included?
Safety features included front airbags, but side airbags were not available. Some models had daytime running lights. Crash-test ratings from the NHTSA varied depending on the specific test, but generally, the Blazer received average marks for frontal impact protection. Rollover ratings were typically lower due to its SUV design.
Optional features varied by trim and included things like power windows and locks, cruise control, and a sunroof. Remote keyless entry was also an available option. Considering its age, the 2000 Blazer lacks the advanced safety and technology features found in modern vehicles. It's important to prioritize safety if considering this vehicle and ensure that all safety equipment is functioning correctly. Overall, the 2000 Blazer provided basic transportation with minimal technological frills.

How Does the 2000 Chevrolet Blazer Compare to Other Sport Utility Vehicle?
In terms of reliability, the Blazer's reliability record is mixed compared to its rivals. The RAV4 and CR-V are typically considered more reliable. The Cherokee (XJ) can be durable but also prone to rust. The Explorer had its own share of reliability issues. The Blazer offered a lower price point compared to some of its rivals, particularly when new. However, used prices reflect its age and condition.
Alternatives to the 2000 Blazer include the Toyota 4Runner (for greater reliability and off-road capability, albeit at a higher price), a newer, more fuel-efficient small SUV, or a well-maintained Jeep Cherokee (XJ) if looking for a classic, rugged SUV. If budget is a major concern, the Blazer can be a reasonable option, but it's essential to carefully inspect its condition and maintenance history.

I own a 2000 ZR2 Blazer 4.I own a 2000 ZR2 Blazer 4.3 auto w/auto 4x4. So far, it's been a great rig. Solid. Nice to look at. A bit underpowered, but fine for me. Mine has 119k original miles and has been very well cared for. Gas mileage isn't great compared to newer rigs, but fine for me as I don't put a ton of miles on. It's very comfortable in the front and rear. The original Bose stereo system is surprisingly loud and clear with all the factory speakers still working fine. If you are looking for a fun, comfortable, solid rig, you can't beat it!
