The Good
The 2012 Challenger offers strong performance, particularly with the V8 engines. Its retro design evokes nostalgia, while its spacious interior provides surprising comfort for a coupe. While not the most fuel-efficient, it offers good value for its performance and features. It appeals to emotional buyers through its styling and power, and practical buyers through its relatively spacious interior and available features.
The Bad
Known weaknesses of the 2012 Dodge Challenger include its relatively poor fuel economy, especially with the larger engines. The large size and thick pillars can hinder visibility. Some owners have reported issues with the electronic systems and suspension components. The base V6 engine can feel underpowered for such a large car, and handling isn't as sharp as some competitors.

What Problems Does the 2012 Dodge Challenger Have?
Recalls for the 2012 Challenger included issues related to the fuel pump relay, which could cause the engine to stall. Owners should check the NHTSA website or with a Dodge dealer to ensure that all applicable recalls have been addressed.
Long-term reliability concerns generally revolve around the potential for electrical issues and suspension wear. The HEMI engines are generally considered robust, but proper maintenance is crucial. Some owners have also reported issues with the automatic transmission, particularly with higher mileage vehicles. Regular fluid changes and preventative maintenance can help mitigate these potential issues. It's recommended to obtain a pre-purchase inspection from a qualified mechanic to identify any existing or potential problems.
How long will the 2012 Dodge Challenger last?
What Technology & Safety Features are Included?
Entertainment options include a six-speaker audio system (standard), and optional upgrades like a premium sound system with a subwoofer. Navigation was available as an optional feature on higher trims.
Driver-assistance features were limited compared to modern cars. Electronic stability control and traction control are standard. Available safety features included antilock brakes, side airbags, and curtain airbags. Rear parking sensors were available as an option.
Crash-test ratings from the NHTSA generally give the 2012 Challenger four or five stars for overall safety. The IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) gave it good ratings in most crash tests, but marginal in the small overlap front test (which was introduced later). Overall, it provided reasonable safety for its class and era.

How Does the 2012 Dodge Challenger Compare to Other Coupe?
Price-wise, the Challenger was generally in the same ballpark as its competitors. The Challenger's retro styling and spacious interior set it apart. The Camaro offered sharper handling, while the Mustang provided a more balanced package of performance and refinement.
Alternatives to consider include the Ford Mustang GT (for better handling and fuel economy with similar performance) and the Chevrolet Camaro SS (for sharper handling but compromised visibility). If space isn't a concern, the Nissan 370Z offers a sportier driving experience at a similar price point. The Challenger excels at providing a comfortable and powerful muscle car experience with classic styling, but potential buyers should consider their priorities (handling, fuel economy, reliability) when making a decision.

Best Car Ever!I fell in love with the 1970's Challenger and again when they re-released it in 2008. These are the hottest and fastest cars on the road today.

Very good bang for the buck & 100% reliableThe Challenger with the V-6 outperforms others in the class...Very comfortable interior except the rear seating...you would have to be a childl or the front passengers would have to put their seats way forward to make the rear comfortable. The dash layout is excellent and all functions at your finger tips including the cruise & radio on the steering column. The"manual mode" for shifting is very precise...

Best car I've ownedGood power, best styling. Fun to drive. Downside is engine problems that were annoying to fix before their predetermined service interval. Would recommend to someone looking for an overpriced over bought muscle car
