The Good

The 2023 Honda CR-V offers a compelling blend of advantages. Practically, it boasts renowned reliability, excellent fuel efficiency, and a comfortable ride. Emotionally, its redesigned exterior is stylish, and the spacious interior provides a sense of well-being. Good performance, especially in hybrid models, further enhances its appeal, offering excellent value for the money.

Potential weaknesses of the 2023 Honda CR-V include a somewhat lackluster base engine in non-hybrid models, leading to slower acceleration. What Problems Does the 2023 Honda CR-V Have?

While the 2023 Honda CR-V is generally considered reliable, some frequently reported problems and concerns have surfaced. Some owners have reported issues with the infotainment system, including glitches and slow response times. Others have mentioned concerns about the hybrid system's performance in very cold weather, reporting a decrease in fuel efficiency. Specific recalls for the 2023 model year should be checked on the NHTSA website. Historically, CR-Vs have had recalls related to fuel pumps and airbags, but these may not apply to the 2023 model. Long-term reliability concerns typically revolve around the longevity of the hybrid battery in hybrid models. Proper maintenance, including timely oil changes and following Honda's recommended service schedule, is crucial for mitigating potential issues. Given that the 2023 model is relatively new, comprehensive long-term reliability data is still emerging. Checking online forums and owner reviews can provide valuable insights into any recurring problems that may arise as the vehicles age.

How long will the 2023 Honda CR-V last?

With proper maintenance, a 2023 Honda CR-V can easily achieve 200,000 miles or more and last for 10-15 years. Regular oil changes, fluid checks, and adherence to the manufacturer's maintenance schedule are crucial. Honda CR-Vs are known for their engine and transmission durability. Potential long-term weaknesses may involve wear and tear on suspension components, and potential hybrid battery degradation in hybrid models. Addressing minor issues promptly can prevent them from escalating into major repairs. Rust prevention in areas with harsh winters is also important to consider for long-term durability.

What Technology & Safety Features are Included?

The 2023 Honda CR-V boasts a range of impressive tech and safety features. Standard on all trims is Honda Sensing, a suite of driver-assistance technologies including Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keeping Assist System, Forward Collision Warning, and Automatic Emergency Braking. Higher trims offer Blind Spot Information System, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, and Parking Sensors.
The infotainment system features a 7-inch touchscreen on lower trims and a 9-inch touchscreen on higher trims. Both support Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are available on EX-L and Sport Touring trims. A premium Bose audio system is exclusive to the Sport Touring trim.
Optional features include a wireless phone charger, a head-up display (not available on all trims), and a power tailgate.
Crash test ratings from NHTSA and IIHS are generally excellent. Check official websites for the latest and most accurate crash test results for the 2023 model year. These features contribute to the CR-V's reputation as a safe and technologically advanced vehicle.

2023 Honda CR-V Prices and Market Value

The 2023 Honda CR-V had a starting MSRP of around $28,000 for the base LX trim, reaching approximately $40,000 for the top-tier Sport Touring Hybrid. Used market prices currently range from the mid-$20,000s to the mid-$30,000s, depending on mileage, condition, and trim level. CR-Vs generally hold their value well due to Honda's reputation for reliability. Factors affecting resale value include mileage, condition, trim level, and whether it's a hybrid model. Models with desirable options and a clean accident history command higher prices. Depreciation is relatively slow compared to other vehicles in its class.

2023 Honda CR-V Cost of Ownership

The 2023 Honda CR-V is generally considered economical to own. Insurance costs are typically moderate. Fuel costs are reasonable, especially for the hybrid models. Maintenance costs are predictable and relatively low, thanks to Honda's reliability. Repairs are less frequent compared to other brands. Long-term ownership costs are favorable, making it a smart choice for budget-conscious buyers. 2023 Honda CR-V Insurance

Insurance for a 2023 Honda CR-V is moderately priced, reflecting its status as a Sport Utility Vehicle with strong safety ratings and
reasonable repair costs.

How Does the 2023 Honda CR-V Compare to Other Sport Utility Vehicle?

The 2023 Honda CR-V competes with rivals such as the Toyota RAV4, Mazda CX-5, Hyundai Tucson, and Nissan Rogue. Compared to the RAV4, the CR-V offers a slightly more spacious interior and a more refined driving experience. The Mazda CX-5 boasts a more engaging driving dynamic, but the CR-V offers better fuel economy, particularly in hybrid form. The Hyundai Tucson provides a longer warranty and a more striking design, but the CR-V has a stronger track record for reliability. The Nissan Rogue offers competitive pricing and fuel economy, but the CR-V's resale value is generally higher.
In terms of reliability, the CR-V is on par with the RAV4, considered among the best in its class. For performance, the CX-5 Turbo might be a better option for those prioritizing driving thrills. If warranty and bold styling are paramount, the Tucson could be considered. Overall, the CR-V offers a well-rounded package, but specific needs may dictate a preference for a particular rival.

Breaking Up With Honda

This is our 3rd CRV and up until a month ago, a great ride, and of course the no drama you expect and love with a CRV. HOWEVER, the vehicle, with 5200 miles, has succumbed to the dreaded "Sticky Steering" syndrome which causes a distracting amount of over correcting when driving, especially on roads with mild curves. I've loved all of my Hondas for the past 30 years and have recommended them highly, no more. Until the manufacturer does more to aid in fixing this issue, I'm sure I speak for more then just myself.

More comfortable ride then past HRVs

I traded in my 2021 Honda CRV, this 2023 CRV rides smoother and looks more pleasing to me. Good on Gas too! I live in the Poconos, some roads are not smooth this car drives over these roads and gives me a more comfortable ride.

Comfortable ride but with some issues

Sticky steering wheel when cruising at 40+ speed. The new CRV shares the same platform as the Civic. Since the Civic has a recent recall, expect CRV to have the recall in the future.

Adaptive cruise control/ sensors

My new 2023 has a ton of issues. The cruise controls keeps cutting out when sensor over heats. Can't use cruise for miles. Try driving with your foot on the gas pedal on a long road trip. Had it back a couple of times and still not fixed. Auto stop hate it when you come to a red light. Very disappointed in the New features on the 2023 cr v.

My 2023 Honda CR-V was making knocking noises

My 2023 Honda CR-V has been making rattling or knocking noises its very loud especially when at red lights and stop signs. It stops when I turn the air conditioner off. I took it back to the car dealership which is Gwinnett Place Honda here in Georgia and they didn't find anything the first time because it stopped making noises by the time I got there. And on the second time I took it it was making noises they said maybe I need a compressor and they kept my car and gave me a loaner.

Not what you'd expect from a Honda

7 miles in, fuel pump had to be replaced. Took 2 weeks with no rental car. 40,000 miles in and still constantly feel it every 213 weeks that the car doesn't want to move when stepping on the gas. Feels like the fuel pump issue always, but dealer won't take responsibility and claim it's the fuel pump. Their excuse-it's normal In hot climates.

2ND CRV Purchase

Very comfortable car; drives like it's on a cloud and not a road. Love all the safety features and the entertainment screen right at eye level. Second CRV and most likely not my last!
