What Problems Does the 2019 Honda CR-V Have?

The 2019 Honda CR-V, while generally reliable, had some frequently reported problems. The most notable concern was oil dilution, particularly affecting models with the 1.5L turbocharged engine. In cold climates, uncombusted fuel could mix with the engine oil, potentially leading to premature engine wear and failure. Honda issued a software update to address this issue by optimizing the fuel injection and combustion process. However, some owners continued to experience the problem even after the update.
Another area of concern was the infotainment system. Some users reported issues with the touchscreen freezing, lagging, or being unresponsive. Software glitches and connectivity problems with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto were also reported.
Although the 2019 model year had fewer recalls compared to some earlier years, it's essential to check for any outstanding recalls related to the fuel system or other safety-related components. Regular oil changes and monitoring the oil level are crucial to mitigate the risks associated with oil dilution. Addressing infotainment issues may involve software updates or, in some cases, component replacement. Long-term reliability largely depends on proper maintenance and addressing any emerging issues promptly.

How long will the 2019 Honda CR-V last?

With proper maintenance, a 2019 Honda CR-V can easily last for 200,000 miles or more, providing over 10 years of service. Honda's reputation for reliability contributes to its longevity. However, addressing potential issues like oil dilution and infotainment glitches is crucial. Regular maintenance, including oil changes, fluid checks, and timely repairs, will maximize its lifespan. The engine and transmission are generally robust, but suspension components and electronics may require attention as the vehicle ages.

I absolutely LOVE my new CR V. I don't think I have ever had a car this nice. I love that I feel safe and can rely on it.

My 2019 Honda CRV has been very reliable. I have not had any issues other than the heat shield sagging and getting damaged on the road (could have been due to extensive road construction). Honda dealers have provided excellent maintenance service. I get a lot of inquiries from dealers to buy the car at excellent offers.
Negative Owner Reviews
Disappointed
This SUV has big shortcomings. Engine is puny, seats are hard as asphalt, tailgate is very difficult to lower. Gas mileage is not as as good as I expected.

What Technology & Safety Features are Included?

The 2019 Honda CR-V offers a range of tech, entertainment, driver-assistance, and safety features. The base LX trim includes a basic infotainment system with a 5-inch display screen and a rearview camera. Stepping up to the EX trim adds a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration. Higher trims like the EX-L and Touring offer an upgraded audio system and navigation.
Driver-assistance features include adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, forward collision warning, and automatic emergency braking, all part of the Honda Sensing suite. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are standard on EX trims and above.
Safety features include anti-lock brakes, stability control, and a suite of airbags. The 2019 Honda CR-V received excellent crash-test ratings from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), earning a five-star overall safety rating from NHTSA and a Top Safety Pick+ from IIHS when equipped with LED headlights. Optional features include a power liftgate and a hands-free access power liftgate on the Touring trim.

2019 Honda CR-V Prices and Market Value

When new, the 2019 Honda CR-V ranged from approximately $24,000 for the base LX trim to around $34,000 for the top-of-the-line Touring trim. As of late 2023, used market prices typically range from $18,000 to $28,000, depending on mileage, condition, and trim level. The CR-V holds its value well due to its reputation for reliability and strong demand. Factors affecting resale value include mileage, maintenance history, accident history, and overall condition. Lower mileage and a clean Carfax report will command higher prices.

2019 Honda CR-V Cost of Ownership

The 2019 Honda CR-V is generally considered economical to own. Insurance costs are typically moderate. Fuel efficiency is excellent, especially with the 1.5L turbo engine. Maintenance costs are relatively low, thanks to Honda's reliability. Repairs are usually affordable, and parts are readily available. While some issues like oil dilution may require attention, overall long-term ownership costs are favorable compared to other vehicles in its class.

2019 Honda CR-V Insurance

Insurance for a 2019 Honda CR-V is moderately priced, reflecting its status as a Wagon with strong safety ratings and
reasonable repair costs.

How Does the 2019 Honda CR-V Compare to Other Wagon?

The 2019 Honda CR-V competes with the Toyota RAV4, Mazda CX-5, Nissan Rogue, and Ford Escape. In terms of reliability, the CR-V and RAV4 are generally considered top choices. The CX-5 offers a more engaging driving experience, while the Rogue provides a comfortable ride and ample cargo space. The Escape has a sportier feel but may not match the CR-V's reliability.
The CR-V offers a balanced combination of practicality, fuel efficiency, and features. While the RAV4 is similarly reliable, the CR-V often provides more comfortable rear seating. The CX-5 boasts a more premium interior and sharper handling.
Alternatives to the 2019 CR-V include the 2019 Toyota RAV4, which offers comparable reliability and fuel efficiency, and the 2019 Mazda CX-5, which provides a more upscale interior and engaging driving dynamics. The Hyundai Tucson and Kia Sportage also offer good value and longer warranties. For those prioritizing driving experience, the Mazda CX-5 is a better choice. If reliability and resale value are paramount, the Toyota RAV4 is a strong contender. However, the CR-V remains a well-rounded and competitive option.

Final Verdict: Is the 2019 Honda CR-V a Good Wagon?

The 2019 Honda CR-V is an excellent choice for individuals and families seeking a reliable, practical, and fuel-efficient compact SUV. It's worth buying, especially as a used vehicle, given its depreciation and solid reputation. The EX or EX-L trims offer the best balance of features and value. Consider having a mechanic inspect the vehicle for potential oil dilution issues, especially if it's primarily driven in cold climates. Ensure all recalls have been addressed. If reliability and practicality are top priorities, the 2019 CR-V is a strong contender in the used car market.

I can recommend it,

This is my third Honda vehicle so needless to point out that I am a fan of the brand. My 2019 CR-V Touring is a good SUV. Before purchasing it I researched comparable vehicles and in the end my final decision was the CR-V and I am happy with my purchase. We have driven it on vacations of over 2000 miles and not one back ache. The only improvement I can think of would be if it had a tilt steering wheel. Gas mileage varies and I generally get about 33mpg combining city and highway. On trips I got as high as 38mpg. All things considered it is a good vehicle if you need an SUV.

Problems with a Honda 2019 CRV

Battery overheated and exploded while not running. Fuel injectors no good after 60,000 miles. Basically a $2000.00 bill. Dash lights flashing all the time now. Sucks.

Don't buy or rent a Honda CRV

I currently have a 2019 Honda CRV that rides like a roaring truck. It has a lot of road noise and I regret purchasing this car every day. It's currently in the repair shop to have the door actuator replaced. Unfortunately the repair will take 2 days and I rented a 2023 Honda CRV because I was having the repair done at the dealership as part of my extended warranty. It runs almost the same as the 2019. A lot of road noise and it roars but, not in a good way. I will never buy another Honda vehicle ever!

Still learning

We have only had the CRV for about 7 weeks. It seems to be a great vehicle. But we are still learning all of the features and safety accessories. We purchased it used and there was no owners manual so it's a try and learn. The salesman was great. The dealership not so much. Would buy the CRV again but at a different dealership

Ok "looks like all the rest" but cheaply made SUV

This car brings the idea of how cheaply you can build a car without showing it. All the cost cutting measures are well hidden. I went to replace the speakers and the wire used by Honda is so thin...about 22-24 gauge...and the original speakers are so poorly made with the smallest magnets I have ever seen. But a normal owner would not see this. Lots of plastic is used instead of metal where you would not look. It is an ok car just don't try to see who the "cheapskate behind the curtain" is.
