Rating: 4.49
Based on 100 Owner Reviews â–¶
Jovan | March 31, 2025
The 2015 Honda CR-V is a compact SUV that builds upon Honda's reputation for reliability and practicality. It's part of the CR-V's fourth generation (2012-2016). Key trims include LX, EX, EX-L, and Touring. New pricing ranged roughly from $23,000 to $33,000. Its popularity stems from its spacious interior, fuel efficiency, comfortable ride, and strong resale value, making it a smart choice for families and commuters alike.
The Good

The 2015 Honda CR-V boasts exceptional reliability and fuel efficiency, appealing to practical buyers. Its comfortable ride and spacious interior make it ideal for families. The CR-V also offers a sense of security and dependability, resonating with those seeking a safe and long-lasting vehicle, contributing to emotional satisfaction.

The Bad

The 2015 CR-V isn't known for thrilling performance; its acceleration can feel adequate rather than exciting. Some owners have reported issues with the infotainment system's responsiveness. Also, the continuously variable transmission (CVT) can take some getting used to. Oil dilution issues have been reported in some climates, so consistent oil changes are crucial.

What Problems Does the 2015 Honda CR-V Have?

Frequently reported problems for the 2015 Honda CR-V include issues with the infotainment system, specifically unresponsiveness and glitching. Some owners have also noted issues with the air conditioning system, particularly reduced cooling performance. A more significant concern has been oil dilution, where fuel mixes with the engine oil, potentially leading to premature engine wear. This issue is more prevalent in colder climates and during frequent short trips. While the 2015 model year itself hasn't had widespread recalls, it's wise to check the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) website for any updates or specific recall notices related to your vehicle's VIN. Long-term reliability is generally strong, but the CVT transmission should be regularly serviced to prevent potential problems. Inspecting the vehicle for signs of oil dilution and following Honda's recommended maintenance schedule are crucial for ensuring longevity. Earlier models in this generation (2012-2014) had more reported issues with the CVT and suspension, so the 2015 model is generally considered more refined. Nonetheless, a thorough pre-purchase inspection is always recommended.

How long will the 2015 Honda CR-V last?

With regular maintenance, a 2015 Honda CR-V can easily reach 200,000 miles or more, providing 10-15 years of service. Honda's reputation for reliability is well-earned. However, long-term durability depends heavily on maintenance habits. Consistent oil changes, CVT fluid replacements, and addressing minor issues promptly are essential. Weaknesses that may emerge over time include potential wear on suspension components, gradual degradation of the infotainment system, and, as mentioned earlier, potential issues with oil dilution in specific climates. Proper care will mitigate these potential problems and maximize the CR-V's lifespan.

I've done only 27K miles on my 2015 CRV. Last week, the Water pump seized, the fan belt snapped. It cost me around $600/- on repairs. I called Honda and they simply played deaf ears, saying, " We've never heard of this kind of failure". I think the water pump bearing is of a very cheap / inferior quality. Honda need to pay attention. I would be happy to hand over the dafective water pump. I am terribly dissatisfied and thinking of selling the vehicle.

I brought my Honda CR-V new it is only five years old and only has 71,ooo miles. My master fuel pump went and the fuel pump wand to it cost me over a thousand dollars. I will be buying a Toyota soon I will not recommend Honda to no one

What Technology & Safety Features are Included?

The 2015 Honda CR-V offers a decent array of tech features for its time. Standard features include a rearview camera, Bluetooth connectivity, and a USB port. Higher trims offer enhanced features like a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, satellite radio, and navigation. Driver-assistance features, particularly on the Touring trim, include adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, and forward collision warning. These features enhance safety and convenience. The CR-V also comes with standard safety features like anti-lock brakes, stability control, and multiple airbags. Optional features include a power tailgate and heated front seats. 2015 Honda CR-V Prices and Market Value

The 2015 Honda CR-V had a starting MSRP of around $23,000 and could reach up to $33,000 for the top-tier Touring trim when new. Currently, used market prices range from approximately $12,000 to $20,000, depending on mileage, condition, and trim level. The CR-V holds its value well due to Honda's reputation for reliability and strong demand in the used car market. Factors affecting resale value include mileage, condition, accident history, and the presence of desirable features like all-wheel drive and higher trim levels. Lower mileage examples in excellent condition command higher prices.

Maintenance is relatively affordable due to Honda's reliability and readily available parts. While occasional repairs are inevitable, they are generally less frequent and less expensive compared to some rivals. Overall, the CR-V's combination of fuel efficiency, reasonable maintenance costs, and strong reliability makes it a budget-friendly choice for long-term ownership.

2015 Honda CR-V Insurance

Insurance for a 2015 Honda CR-V is moderately priced, reflecting its status as a Wagon with strong safety ratings and
reasonable repair costs.

How Does the 2015 Honda CR-V Compare to Other Wagon?

The 2015 Honda CR-V competes with the Toyota RAV4, Mazda CX-5, Ford Escape, and Subaru Forester. In terms of reliability, the CR-V and RAV4 are top contenders. The Mazda CX-5 offers a more engaging driving experience but may not be as spacious. The Ford Escape provides more engine options but can be less reliable. The Subaru Forester boasts standard all-wheel drive, making it appealing for those in snowy climates. Feature-wise, the CR-V is competitive, though some rivals may offer more advanced tech features. The RAV4 is a similar alternative, offering comparable reliability and practicality. If driving enjoyment is a priority, the Mazda CX-5 is a better choice. For those needing standard all-wheel drive, the Subaru Forester is a strong option. Price-wise, the CR-V is typically in the middle of the pack. While the CR-V excels in reliability and practicality, individual preferences for driving dynamics and features may lead buyers to consider alternatives.

Final Verdict: Is the 2015 Honda CR-V a Good Wagon?

The 2015 Honda CR-V is ideal for families, commuters, and anyone seeking a reliable and practical compact SUV. It's a worthwhile purchase, especially on the used market, given its strong resale value and reputation for longevity. An EX or EX-L trim offers a good balance of features and value. While the Touring trim provides more advanced driver-assistance systems, it comes at a higher price. Before buying, ensure a thorough inspection to check for any potential issues like oil dilution or transmission problems. If reliability and practicality are top priorities, the 2015 CR-V is an excellent choice. Just be aware of its slightly underwhelming performance compared to some rivals.

Take Us Back to 2011

Not an improvement over our 2011 CRV in any respect. The CVT sounds cheap, not an enough legroom, compass continual needs resetting and the stereo is marginal. Had to have a water pump replacement at 82,000 miles. No fun to drive and AWD isn't the best.

Great value, reliable, and sure-footed

I bought the car new with 45,000 mi and in 3.5 years have put on 52,000 more miles, so about to cross 100,000 miles. In my time of ownership I have only put in gas, oil changes, new tires, and changed the filters. Everything else works flawlessly every time. The all-wheel drive system is impressive and once got me to a location that all three guys in pickup trucks following me had to park their trucks in the middle of the mud trail while I reached the destination at the top of the hill. I average 27 mpg and have more than enough pep to pass people on 55 mph highways quickly. The cargo area is surprisingly large with the rear seats folded down And so this is our preferred vehicle for long trips with our two big dogs!

DIAGNOSED BY HONDA, REPLACE EPS UNIT & RACK. TOTAL COST OF REPAIR $4100. RESEARCH SHOWS THAT HONDA HAS HAD THIS PROBLEM ON 2 HONDA MODELS, RESULTING IN RECALL. HOWEVER, NOT CRV'S.
