The Good
The 2005 Pathfinder offers strong V6 performance and decent towing capacity, appealing to practical buyers needing utility. Its rugged design and available 4WD evoke a sense of adventure, attracting emotional buyers. Interior comfort and spaciousness are also advantages. Reliability, while not perfect, was generally considered adequate for its class.
The Bad
Potential weaknesses of the 2005 Pathfinder include fuel economy, which is subpar compared to newer SUVs. Some owners have reported issues with the transmission, particularly automatic transmissions. Also, be aware of potential rust, especially in areas with harsh winters. Suspension components may also require attention due to wear and tear.

What Problems Does the 2005 Nissan Pathfinder Have?
While the 2005 model year isn't particularly notorious compared to others, consistent maintenance and careful inspection are vital to mitigate potential problems. Some model years within the Pathfinder's third generation are known for timing chain issues, although this is less prevalent in the 2005 model compared to later years. Thorough inspection by a qualified mechanic before purchasing a used 2005 Pathfinder is highly recommended.

What Technology & Safety Features are Included?
Safety features included front and side airbags, as well as curtain airbags for all three rows in some trims. Crash-test ratings from the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) were generally good for frontal and side impacts, but rollover ratings were lower, typical for SUVs of that era. Optional features included a sunroof, leather upholstery, and heated seats. The infotainment system was dated even at the time, lacking modern smartphone integration. Overall, the 2005 Pathfinder prioritized basic safety and entertainment over advanced technology features commonly found in newer vehicles. It's important to note that the technology, even on the highest trim, is quite basic by today's standards.

How Does the 2005 Nissan Pathfinder Compare to Other Wagon?
Reliability is where the Pathfinder falls somewhat short. The Toyota 4Runner generally had a better reputation for reliability. The Ford Explorer, while popular, also had its share of issues. The Jeep Grand Cherokee offered more off-road capability, but its reliability could be questionable. The Chevy Trailblazer was a solid choice but didn't necessarily excel in any particular area. Considering reliability and long-term ownership costs, a used Toyota 4Runner (if within budget) might be a better alternative. Similar alternatives include the Honda Pilot or Acura MDX which provide better on road manners and similar space. Overall the Pathfinder is a competent SUV, but some competitors offered better reliability or a more compelling overall package.

It is one of the worst nissan cars ever madeThis car has a lagging acceleration. With sensor issues And fuel pump issues. And lets not forget its alternator issues Its towing capacity for the v8 is quite okay A bit outdated in interior It is noisy both the v6 and the v8 engine size Its is not fuel efficient It is a good family hauler with a nice payload capacity

least reliable vehicle I’ve ever ownedEngineered to fail as soon as warranty expires. Absolutely no manufacturer support for ongoing issues like transmissions, electronic engine control units and fuel level sensors.

GREAT OFF-ROAD!! NOT SO GREAT RELIABILITY(Owned brand new since 2005) Putting reliability aside; I truly love this suv which is basically a family frontier. I have done a couple mods to mine and I’m just under 300 horsepower and this thing can absolutely go! The torque is amazing and the cabin engine noise sounds really really good. The exterior look is also a style that we will never see again from Nissan which is why I treasure it so much. I also noticed that other than the front bumper and hood this thing can take hits hard I ran into some cement pretty hard and all I got was a teeny hair sized dent in my rear bumper. I’ve also been in two car accidents which were fixed for free. However I got in one and the other car was completely destroyed but my Pathfinder got a dent which was fixed by hand. Now in 2020 we have a Mall Crawler rather than the old boxy Off-road capable Pathfinder. I have the outdated interior and center console on my 05’ but the 2010 years and trim levels have a really nice Bose system, and a very nice touch screen that is fitted will into the interior. Reliability (Electronics/Interior) - I’m just at 126,000 miles and my cruise control doesn’t work. My check engine light is on, TPMS goes off sometimes, my driver window doesn’t work sometimes, my temp gauge doesnt work, I have some sort of factory alarm system which goes of sometimes, my mpg doesn’t really work, my radio static sucks, and all of my rear gas struts went out so quickly. Engine/Transmission: I had so many repairs needed to my engine that Nissan just quoted me with a used Engine which was replaced at 90K and I’m now at 126K Miles. My transmission got locked up somehow and I got that fixed. Overall, 15 years later, I do use this car as a daily driver and I drive it an hour and a half to the beach once a month with no problems other than an off and on TPMS and the broken electronics, but they aren’t a big safety concern to me. I live in a safe area of Texas with lots of people ready to help so I don’t worry too much about having a problem on the side of the road and which I haven’t in more than 2 years. I love my Pathfinder and will never get rid of it. The $1000 I’ll sell it for isn’t worth it. I love this versatile suv too much.

Death trapMaybe if car wasn't a death trap it would be enjoyable inside design is a low medium. The car was purchased used but for $7000.00+ you would expect not to have so many freaking problems.

Owned the car 8 years. It's been a great car.I bought the car for my use but my son took it over to drive to high school, through college, through graduate school. I have it again, still looks and runs great.

Best car I have ever owned! We were in the market for something newer and something that would tow our travel trailer. Found this little gem with only 84,000 Original miles. I performed the service of removing the transmission cooler from running through the radiator and then I installed a new filter and fluid. This thing tows our trailer like butter! We were towing with a 2011 Hyundai Santa Fe with the towing package and I thought we were probably putting too much stress on the transmission and engine. I used to have to prepare for upcoming hills, now I just give have to accelerate on my own. Sits up high so you have a good view of everything around you. Mine only has power mirrors and windows but I think that it's great for the year it was built. A lot more solid than our Hyundai that's for sure. I no longer feel nervous about towing our trailer. If I can get another 50,000 to 60,000 miles from it,it would be a steal! I always take the vehicle I am planning on buying to our own mechanic and let them look it over underneath to see if it leaked previously or has problems that will need addressed in the near future. I couldn't be happier with this vehicle!

Very reliable car. Rides very smooth and seats 7 cThis car is very comfortable to ride, with lots of leg room in front and back, used it mostly for traveling. Has a nice Bose surround system, so you can listen to your favorite music during riding
