What Problems Does the 2012 Nissan Sentra Have?
Recalls for the 2012 Sentra are relatively limited, but it is crucial to check the NHTSA website for any outstanding safety recalls related to airbags or other critical components. Long-term reliability concerns primarily stem from the potential for CVT failure and A/C issues. Regular maintenance and fluid changes, especially for the CVT, are vital to prolong the car's lifespan. Addressing any unusual noises or performance issues promptly can help prevent more significant problems down the road. Be aware of potential problems with the catalytic converter. Model years prior to 2012 also exhibited CVT issues, so this is a trend to be aware of.

What Technology & Safety Features are Included?
Driver-assistance features are limited, with standard safety features including anti-lock brakes (ABS), stability control, and multiple airbags (front, side, and curtain). There are no advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) like lane departure warning or automatic emergency braking available on this model year.
Optional features, depending on the trim level and package selected, could include a sunroof, leather upholstery, and upgraded audio system. Navigation was not a factory option, but aftermarket solutions are readily available.
Crash-test ratings from the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) and IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) should be consulted for specific details. While the Sentra generally performed adequately in crash tests, checking the specific ratings for the 2012 model year is recommended for informed safety assessment. Remember that safety technology has advanced significantly since 2012.

How Does the 2012 Nissan Sentra Compare to Other Sedan?
Price-wise, the Sentra is often more affordable on the used market than the Corolla or Civic, making it an attractive option for budget-conscious buyers. However, the potential for costly CVT repairs should be factored into the overall cost.
Alternatives to the 2012 Sentra include the Toyota Corolla for its reliability, the Honda Civic for its performance and reputation, and the Mazda3 for its sporty driving experience. If reliability is a top priority, the Corolla or Civic are better choices. If you are prioritizing fuel efficiency and are willing to take a risk with the CVT the Sentra is an option. However, given the potential CVT issues, the other options are better bets.

Risk of CVT transmission, AC and struts are riskyI owned two 2012 Nissan Sentra for Turo 1. CVT transmission risky very high risk to fail - no way to fix but 4K for the part of a new transmission. 2. Blower or its relay easily go bad. Costly to fix because it cost 5hrs labor 3. Starter easily go bad. Man, I fixed it myself learned how to fix it not hard to replace but you will experience staring cars for several times to turn it on 4. Struts are easily go bad. I replaced them myself parts are 150 from EBay but it takes me 3hrs to replace both of them 5. The car likes a paper made toy. Noisy very noisy in a windy weather Now I donβt trust Nissan cars. cVT transmission is a potential risk for all Nissan cars all years. Buy a new Nissan is okay because you are in the lemon.

Winter,Spring,Summer,FallI take care of my baby, i totally transformed the car , its pimped out now . Bought this car at 60k Miles in 2017 and now has 215k miles present day. I will say , My oil changes were every 5000miles with full synthetic oil used. I change the cvt fluid every 50000 miles or once a year for me cause i have heavier rims and tires on the car. I must say this is the best car i have owned by far and if you love it , it will love you.

Failed transmissinI have 2012 Sentra that just failed transmission. The cost of repair - $4K. When buying this car i had now idea 8 years is its lifespan. They KNOW about this problem and extended warranty for 2003-2010 models but not later models. Nissan said they "fixed" the problem. THEY LIED. Now the only way to me to do it is a lawsuit. There was a lawsuit filed and settled. PLEASE READ about it before buying Nissan. I wish I had. You can find a lot of good reviews online - don't believe it, it is from people who just bought it or from dealers. Mine is a real story how reliable Nissans are after 8 years. You need to spend not $500 or $600 on minor repair of older car, you'll need $4K. We have 2 Nissans. Guess where I am going for my new car? Anywhere but Nissan.

Reliable & Easy!I absolutely loved my nissan sentra. It was my 2nd car and could have lasted me another 10 years if I didn't have two large dogs needing to be hauled around. Spacious for a sedan, back seats can fold down and fit large items in the trunk/backseat. I rarely ever had problems with this vehicle in the 8 years of owning it and if I did, it was easy to fix and not breaking the bank. Would highly recommend!

Decent! The CVT is garbage and it looks like a metallic chicken nugget. Buy a manual, the SE-R or just buy an older model. If your kid needs a car, it's a fantastic first car! It's just fun enough to whip about and just boring enough to think twice about trying to challenge that Mustang off the line.

Great highway mileagePlenty of interior room, rear leg room, and a good sized trunk. CVT returns great highway MPG. Easy to drive car with good visibility all around.
