What Problems Does the 2017 Chevrolet Impala Have?

Frequently reported problems for the 2017 Chevrolet Impala include potential issues with the transmission, specifically rough shifting or hesitation. Some owners have also reported problems with the MyLink infotainment system, such as freezing, lagging, or connectivity issues. Issues with the climate control system and occasional electrical glitches have also been noted.
Recalls for the 2017 Impala have included concerns related to the electronic parking brake, which could potentially not fully engage, and issues with the seat-mounted airbags. It's crucial to check the vehicle's VIN for any outstanding recalls before purchasing.
Long-term reliability concerns generally revolve around the transmission, particularly in models with the V6 engine. Regular transmission fluid changes are essential to mitigate potential issues. Owners should also pay attention to any unusual noises or vibrations. Some have reported issues with the evaporative emission control system requiring replacement of components. Check the condition of the brakes and suspension components, as these are common wear items on a vehicle of this age. Generally, the 2017 model is considered reliable but requires diligent maintenance.

How long will the 2017 Chevrolet Impala last?

With good maintenance habits, a 2017 Chevrolet Impala can easily reach 200,000 miles or more. Many owners report reliable service for 10-15 years. Key to longevity is regular oil changes, transmission fluid services, and timely replacement of wear items like brakes and tires. Weaknesses over time can include potential issues with the transmission, as mentioned earlier, and wear on suspension components. Rust can also become a factor in regions with harsh winters, so regular washing and undercarriage cleaning are recommended. The infotainment system may also show its age over time.

I would buy one and did in 2017 and it's been one of the best vehicles I have owned. I still get a lot of compliments on how nice it looks. It's pearl white with 20-inch wheels and they set it off. Sadly, they quit making it as they just got it perfect and then stopped. My buddy is still kicking himself for not buying the last model year they were built. I still have people wanting to buy it off me.
Don
Never had one problem or complaint since I bought the car. No recalls, always reliable, nothing but routine maintenance. Shame that GM stopped making them!

Check engine light came on a week after the purchase. Paint falling off roof and truck, almost completely gone off roof. Radio has problems. They do not stand behind car after sale once so ever. Thinking about buying from swant and grabber dealer beware.

Nice riding car. No issues at the moment. I would recommend this car to a friend. A very good looking car. Very little road noise. Plenty of leg room.

2017 Chevrolet Impala Prices and Market Value

When new, the 2017 Chevrolet Impala had an MSRP ranging from approximately $27,000 for the base LS trim to around $37,000 for the fully loaded Premier trim. Current used market prices typically range from $12,000 to $20,000, depending on condition, mileage, and trim level. The Impala has experienced significant depreciation, as is typical for full-size sedans. Factors affecting resale value include mileage, condition (especially rust), accident history, and the presence of desirable features like the V6 engine and advanced safety technologies. Well-maintained examples with low mileage command higher prices.

2017 Chevrolet Impala Cost of Ownership

The 2017 Chevrolet Impala is generally considered moderately economical to own. Insurance costs are typically average for its class. Fuel costs are reasonable, especially with the 2.5L engine. Maintenance costs are also average, with readily available parts and a large service network. However, potential transmission issues could lead to higher repair bills. Long-term ownership costs are manageable if the vehicle is well-maintained and any potential issues are addressed promptly. It is not an inexpensive car but is not considered very costly either.

The 2017 Chevrolet Impala competes with other full-size sedans like the Toyota Avalon, Chrysler 300, and Ford Taurus.
Performance: The Impala's V6 engine offers strong acceleration, comparable to the Avalon and 300. The base 4-cylinder is less powerful.
Features: The Impala offers a comparable range of features, including a user-friendly infotainment system and available driver-assistance technologies.
Reliability: The Impala's reliability is generally good, but the Avalon has a slightly better reputation. The Chrysler 300 may have more reported issues.
Price: The Impala is typically priced lower than the Avalon on the used market, making it a value-oriented choice. The Chrysler 300 can be found at a similar price point.
Alternatives: The Toyota Avalon is a strong alternative for those prioritizing reliability and a comfortable ride, although it may be more expensive. The Chrysler 300 offers a more stylish and luxurious experience, but its reliability may be a concern. The Ford Taurus, while spacious, is generally considered less refined. A Buick LaCrosse offers more upscale styling and comfort with similar underpinnings. Depending on needs and budget, the Avalon or LaCrosse represent competitive alternatives.

The 2017 Impala is a great car.

I am Very happy with my 2017 Impala. It has been very reliable and problem free. It has all the options including leather interior and Bose sound system. To bad Chevrolet discontinued the Impala. I should have bought a 2020 the last year they were produced. I normally trade every 4 years, but I really enjoy this car. I don't wan. a SUV. I had a 2014 Impala I was very happy with.
