How Does the 2014 Chevrolet Malibu Compare to Other Passenger Sedan?
In terms of performance, the Malibu's base engine felt less powerful than some rivals, while the turbo engine offered competitive acceleration.
Features-wise, the Malibu's MyLink system was decent, but some competitors offered more intuitive interfaces.
Reliability-wise, the Camry and Accord generally had better reputations, while the Malibu had some reported issues with oil consumption and transmission.

It's ideal for families or commuters prioritizing a smooth ride and decent fuel economy over sporty performance.
Whether it's worth buying depends on the price and condition.
A well-maintained model with the 2.5L engine might be a good value, but be aware of potential oil consumption issues.
The turbocharged engine offers more power but could come with higher running costs.
A thorough inspection and a pre-purchase inspection by a trusted mechanic are crucial before buying any used 2014 Malibu.

The Perfect Car2014 Malibu has been the perfect car. 355,000 miles and still going strong. Only minor repairs (wheel bearings, 1 O2 sensor and a valve timing solenoid), all preventative maintenance, and 33mpg lifetime average. Drivers seat is worn but all else is still in good condition.

Succeeds at every levelThis is my updated review. Currently 131k miles. First reviewed as Midwest Dad at 10k miles. My 2.0 Turbo Malibu (now my daughter's) has been nothing short of remarkable. The engine pulls like a freight train and has had ZERO issues. Bluetooth and wireless STILL seamless and easy. Pair your phone one time, get in the car, pick spotify (or whatever) and play. THAT easy. There are zero squeaks and zero rattles. Every interior and exterior light works perfectly and are original. Original brakes went to 93k miles. The car stops on a dime 38k miles after replacement. Leather still perfect. Suspension and steering as brand new. (replaced front struts at 100k; ORIGINAL rear shocks). Over 30 mpg on highway and did i mention it will get to 60mph in less than 6.0 seconds? For its job? Along with my Yukon and Cadillac, literally the best car I've ever owned. Now it keeps my daughter safe....

TroubleThis car has been nothing but a giant headache ever since we bought it. One issue after another. There's still issues that are unsolved. There's a heavy leak in the trunk and the radio screen went out. Please rethink before buying this car. It can be a deathtrap also. The wheel locks up while your driving. Manifold bolts come loose and cause your car to lose power. It's no good period!

Many part problemsMany part problems from sensors to oil control valve and driver seat ripping. I also submitted a General Motors Product Field Action Request in March of 2022. I still have gotten a answer on that request.
