The Good
The 2014 Durango offers powerful performance, especially with the V8 engine, and a comfortable ride. Its bold design appeals to emotional buyers, while the spacious interior and available all-wheel drive cater to practical needs. Reliability is decent, and the value proposition is strong compared to some competitors. The well-appointed interior adds to the comfort, making it suitable for long trips.
The Bad
Some 2014 Durangos have experienced issues with the electrical system, including the Uconnect infotainment system. Fuel economy, particularly with the V8, is not a strong point. Potential buyers should also inspect the vehicle for any signs of transmission problems and thoroughly check all electronic features. Premature wear on brake components has also been reported.

How Does the 2014 Dodge Durango Compare to Other Sport Utility Vehicle?
In terms of reliability, the Toyota Highlander generally scores higher than the Durango. The Chevrolet Traverse offers more cargo space but may lack the Durango's sporty driving dynamics. The Honda Pilot is known for its practicality and reliability.
For those prioritizing reliability and fuel economy, the Toyota Highlander or Honda Pilot are better alternatives. If performance and styling are paramount, the Durango remains a strong contender. The Ford Explorer offers a similar balance of features and performance, making it a worthy alternative. Consider the Mazda CX-9 for a more refined driving experience, although it's smaller than the Durango. Prices are generally comparable across these models, depending on trim and condition.

Final Verdict: Is the 2014 Dodge Durango a Good Sport Utility Vehicle?
Edward G Jones on January 23, 2023
Dodge durangoThe Durango drive ability is very good, power is very adequate. But the cam shafts developed a ridge which caused a loud ticking noise. They had to be replaced. This was an expensive undertaking. In a low mileage vehicles. Dodge should pay me for my expenses.

Happy Camper!I really LOVE my new (used) car. We bought this vehicle so we can tow a travel trailer behind it. This will work perfectly for that.

Good vehicle with some design flawsGreat vehicle with everything you could ask for. The design flaws come from the rear track light allowing water in and causing light to go out and an expensive replacement. Engine has the two popular issues with hemi model. Had to replace exhaust manifold on mine.

Perfect family SUVI purchased new and have had for 6 years. Only one mechanics issue at 80,000 miles. Other than that oil changes and new tires have been my only expense. Could not say enough great things about the Durango.

At 55,000 Miles it has been very goodI like this car very much. A couple of minor problems in 50,000 miles (a radiator leak which might have been from a rock bouncing up, and a thermostat replacement (under warranty), but overall, the V6 with the 8 speed transmission is very smooth and has been more than adequate including pulling a small trailer. The UConnect system is very intuitive and easy to use.
